Chapter 17 - Group D

Bam!

The door shut behind Seth as he stumbled into the classroom landing directly on his face, courtesy of his uncle's push.

"...."

The room became awkwardly silent as at Seth's embarrassing entrance, the teacher at the front stared at him inquisitively.

He scrambled to stand back up trying to scavenge what was left of his dignity he felt a surge of heat on his face as he blushed in shame, this had to be the most embarrassing moment of his life.

Due to his background and upbringing, Seth was a person who cared a whole lot about his image and reputation, but now...…..

"You must be the latecomer," said the teacher, he was a middle-aged man who looked severely sleep deprived he had a pair of oversized glasses on from its transparent lenses on could see his steep gray eyes which were complemented by his onyx black hair, the man stood weirdly as his back was a little hunched.

Scratching his head sheepishly "Yes I believe that's me" Seth replied.

Scanning the boy briefly, the teacher scoffed "We are eight days far ahead in this course and I'm not going to revise anything, you would have to learn from your peers"

Still feeling embarrassed Seth nodded "I understand sir".

"Now introduce yourself then go find yourself a seat"

Feeling the curious gazes of the students on him Seth became sweaty, as he nervously turned to face the class he made a slight bow, "Hi everyone My Name I Seth Bane, due to some inconvenience I joined you guys late, but now I'm here I hope you guys can take care of me"

The atmosphere froze Seth meanwhile was puzzled 'That's it? No reaction?' he wondered his head still lowered, but suddenly his hair stood on end, and a chill crawled up his spine causing goosebumps.

The entire classroom gaze became fervent at the mention of his name, suddenly a voice broke the silence.

"Bane as in Maya Bane?"

Looking back up Seth replied with a smile "Yes she is my mother"

And just like that a commotion broke out in the classroom, as the student excitedly clamored, even the teacher at the front was surprised, though he was aware that there was a student who had yet to arrive, he never knew the student's name or background.

But to think he was the child of humanity's savior and very first champion…. shaking his head the teacher slammed his hand on his desk.

Bang!

And the classroom became silent once more, "save your chatters for later" he said sternly then turning back to Seth he started to inform him.

"due to the current situation of the federation, the enforcers decided to put all young irregulars and cybernoxes under compulsory military training, for the next fifteen days to increase the chances of survival for you minors when the war begins, and apparently you have missed eight days of this training, so you have to work hard to make up for lost time"

"also due to the large population of the youths you guys have been divided into groups based on their talents and potential, these groups each have different class schedules, treatments and resource allocation."

" you were originally supposed to be in group B but due to tardiness you have been degraded to the lowest group D"

"Now that you are aware of this go find yourself a seat, then after classes be sure to go to the lieutenant in charge to register your details and collect your learning materials"

After the speech the teacher sat back down behind his desk resting his head on his hand in a sleeping posture with his eyes closed, apparently, it was Seth's entry that woke him up.

After hearing this information, Seth felt dejected this all happened because of his ordeal, because of the strange time dilation the one day he spent in the past was eight days and because of that he was put in the lowest talented Group in the camp.

He knew that if he explained that the reason for his lateness was because of the fact that he was facing an ordeal, he would be forgiven and most probably be promoted to a higher group, all facing an ordeal meant you had a mythical seed, so he probably would have been put among the ranks of geniuses.

But he couldn't do that as his system had already warned him against disclosing his abilities. and he was pretty sure that his ordeal was quite special cause he was sent back in time, basically time traveling which was something unheard of in this era this point would probably make him stand out in ways he would rather avoid.

So scanning through the class he spotted an empty desk at the last row and he went there directly, ignoring the fervent and curious gazes of his new classmates, just as he was about to reach his desk he noticed someone waving at him from the third row.

Surprisingly it was an old classmate from Crimson High, if he remembered correctly this was the guy who awakened a broken tile as a seed.

Responding to his greeting with a nod he continued to the empty desk and then sat down, he noticed all of the students had a textbook opened and they were all reading a particular page, probably a class exercise given by the teacher.

But he didn't have a textbook yet so he had nothing to do, just as he was about to start his long-awaited conversation with his system, a voice interrupted him.

"Umm excuse me"

Looking up Seth saw the speaker his appearance was quite curious, the boy who looked to be around Seth's age the boy was a little tall about 6.7feet he had an eerie-looking iris which was shaped in a cross glowing with an amethyst purple hue, as for the boy's skin it was dark brown.

One had to know that after almost a million years of interbreeding among the human race, the concept of race was now none nonexistent all humans now looked alike- well except for a select few due to those that had recessive genes they looked different from others, and example of that was the young man in front of him.

The man's violet purple hair wasn't silky smooth like others no it was rough, curly and springy.

"yes, can I help you?" Seth replied.

The young man then handed his textbook over, with a generous smile "I've finished with today's reading, so if you're not bothered you can have mine"

"Actually I don't think I would understand even if I read it after all you guys are far ahead" Seth replied with a smile 'maybe this class won't be so bad after all' he thought

"ohh that's true, sorry for disturbing them" the boy apologized hesitating slightly then proceeded to continue "My name is Dayo and I sit beside you, can I call you by name?"

"sure" Seth replied then he added " I will be depending on you to show me around after class then Dayo"

The boy's eyes lit up in delight "with pleasure" It was a good thing for him to form friendly ties with Seth apart from the fact that they were seatmates, it would be nice to be the friend of humanity's Savior's only son.

Brring! Brring!

And just then the school bell rang signaling the end of the class.
