Two conflicting forces being used simultaneously is incredibly difficult—any misstep could cause an explosion or self-destruction.
Light and darkness are exactly that.
Even in the entire Digital World, those capable of this feat are extremely rare.
A strong being may not be able to control both light and dark, but one who can definitely will become strong!
After gaining the Tiger Talisman's power of balance, Moss could now simultaneously release light and dark energy—a new potential had awakened within her.
[Mastemon: 1%]
Moss's heart surged with joy upon seeing this long-awaited possibility appear.
"Angewomon, we finally have the potential for Mastemon!"
She shared her joy with Angewomon.
Angewomon smiled brightly. "That's wonderful!"
Then asked, "What kind of Digimon is Mastemon?"
"You don't know?" Moss was momentarily surprised.
But on second thought, it made sense.
This Angewomon originally came from Digimon Savers, just a background character. In the grand scope of the Digital World, she was just a minor figure—it was natural she lacked knowledge of Mega-level Digimon.
Besides, Mastemon wasn't an ordinary Mega-level Digimon. It wasn't something typical Digimon would know.
So Moss explained: "It's said that in times of great crisis, Angewomon and LadyDevimon fuse into Mastemon. She possesses both light and dark powers and can open interdimensional portals, commanding both angels and fallen angels."
Angewomon was stunned.
How could a dignified Angewomon possibly fuse with a LadyDevimon?!
Those words shouldn't even be in the same sentence!
Impossible! Absolutely impossible!
"Fusion evolution is very rare. Only two Digimon with deep mutual understanding can achieve it. Angewomon and LadyDevimon represent the extremes of light and dark—how could they possibly… it's absurd!"
From the perspective of a typical Angewomon, a Digimon like Mastemon that required fusion with a LadyDevimon was simply unthinkable.
Even if she believed Moss wouldn't lie, it was still hard to accept.
If someone else had said it, she would've dismissed it as nonsense.
Moss understood the emotional shock and said, "Even though Earth has mountains and valleys, if you shrink it to the size of a ping-pong ball, it's smoother than the ball itself.
"In the face of great crisis, even Angewomon and LadyDevimon must cooperate to survive, no matter how opposed they are."
Just like in Three-Body Problem—under existential threat, all humans are simply humans.
In the face of survival, light and dark distinctions fade.
Angewomon pondered. "In that case, I hope Mastemon never has to be born."
Because her birth meant a massive crisis—so great that two opposing races must join forces. One that could bridge light and darkness. Such a threat would be apocalyptic.
It was a terror beyond Angewomon's imagination!
If possible, she hoped such terror would never come.
Moss smiled. "You're so kind, Angewomon."
And kindness is good.
Even villains wish for a world with more kind people.
Besides, Moss wasn't a villain—just a weirdo.
Angewomon's kindness was like sunlight, warming her heart. Like the Big Dipper, it pointed her way, keeping her from getting lost.
Moss grinned inside and added, "But for us, it might not need to be so troublesome."
They weren't ordinary Digimon. They were two souls in one body, a Digimon with a game-like interface, a world-traveling Digimon.
Even if the original evolution requirements were hard to meet, encountering apocalyptic threats across worlds wasn't impossible.
Of course, if they could simply master controlling light and dark and steadily evolve into Mastemon, that would be ideal.
"Let's test it out."
Moss picked up the Rabbit Talisman she carried.
Among the twelve talismans, she prioritized the Tiger Talisman. The rest were nice but nonessential.
Now that she had the Tiger Talisman, she could begin collecting the others' powers too.
Starting with the Rabbit Talisman.
She held it in both hands, channeling dark magic through her left and holy power through her right. Once released from her body, without the Tiger Talisman's balancing effect, the two opposing forces clashed—an explosive reaction.
The talisman's vessel was stone. Magical, yes—but still stone.
In the original story, Jade used a chisel to chip a chunk off Shendu's statue to create a spell. If that statue could be chipped, then so could a talisman.
In the collision of light and dark, the Rabbit Talisman shattered instantly.
The talisman broke—but its magic didn't vanish.
"Now!"
As the Rabbit Talisman's magic tried to escape, Moss cast her Receiving Spell—like an invisible hand, she grabbed the bunny spirit and pulled it into herself.
"The power of speed is mine!"
It wasn't as thrilling as acquiring balance, but speed still pleased her.
Still, she was more interested in something else.
Being Shendu's magic, the Rabbit Talisman should also contain dragon and demon factors.
She stared at her evolution interface, and soon, changes occurred.
[Azulongmon: 18%][Lilithmon: 5%][LadyDevimon: 6%]
Moss beamed. "Perfect!"
She then remembered that Section 13's vault still held three talismans—Rooster, Ox, and Snake.
After resting an hour, she found Black.
"I need the remaining talismans. It's part of the plan."
Given Section 13's security level, she could've taken them directly. The vault password was 007.
But since she was in the realm of good qi, she had to act accordingly—like a good angel.
"Plan?" Black stroked his chin.
Taking down the demon behind the Dark Hand would reduce it to just another global crime syndicate, and mopping that up was Section 13's job.
So if it helped her eliminate that demon, he was all in.
"All right, follow me."
Black personally escorted her to the vault and handed over the Rooster, Ox, and Snake Talismans.
Back in her dorm, Moss repeated her process: destroying the stone vessels with light and dark forces and absorbing the magic with the Receiving Spell.
"Levitation!"
She glanced at a cup across the room. With a thought, it floated over—like invisible hands lifted it.
More like telekinesis than levitation.
"Strength!"
With just one finger, she lifted her entire bed.
Her physique hadn't changed, but her strength had increased more than tenfold!
"Invisibility!"
Moss stood before the mirror—but her reflection was gone.
That's invisibility!
She held up a flashlight and sighed. "I'm invisible, but I still exist physically, still have mass, even my scent remains. Lots of flaws."
Angewomon murmured, "Don't do that all of a sudden."
"…Sorry, instinct."
