The sun had set, and the moon had risen. Night had fallen.
In a desolate wilderness stood an eerie old mansion.
As the saying goes, "Timing is everything." After Moss had returned to Uncle's antique shop with Jade and the boomerang, she asked Uncle to prepare a tracking spell.
Once the tracking spell was ready, Moss used the Rabbit Talisman to fly at supersonic speed to where Daolon Wong was located.
Originally, she had only come to ask Daolon Wong about the incantation to seal Shendu. But to her surprise, there was a delightful bonus—she arrived just in time to see Daolon extracting the magic power from the Tiger Talisman.
The Tiger Talisman!
Without hesitation, she used the Rabbit Talisman to dash in and executed a "snatch-it-from-under-your-nose" move, knocking Daolon aside and stepping in front of the talisman's energy. To ensure full absorption of the Tiger Talisman's power, she also activated her Receiving Magic.
While Receiving Magic wasn't designed specifically to absorb magical power, it did produce a certain suction force.
And sure enough, she successfully absorbed the Tiger Talisman's energy.
Yes!
Not far away, Daolon gritted his teeth and held his waist, struggling to stand up. That impact had nearly knocked the wind out of his old bones.
When he saw who had absorbed the power, his eyes widened in disbelief.
"You... it's you!"
Upon recognizing the figure, Daolon erupted with fury, bulging eyes and all, shouting hysterically, "You stole my place! And now you're stealing my talisman too?!"
Moss thought to herself, All I did was grab the talisman in front of you. How did I 'steal your place' now? She replied, "This is our first meeting. Don't go making baseless accusations."
Daolon raised his staff furiously. "I'll make you pay for this—Chui! Finn! Chow!"
Fwoosh!
Three plumes of black smoke emerged and formed into three Dark Enforcers.
"Heavenly Violet Light!"
Moss swiftly raised her right hand, fingers together, and slashed the air. A crescent-shaped blade of radiant violet light shot forward, slicing all three Dark Enforcers clean in half.
No blood, just clean cuts—then they dissolved into smoke and vanished.
"Ah?!"
Daolon was startled. He hadn't expected this angel to be so powerful. He hastily raised his staff again, blasting a pillar of dark energy at Moss.
A beam clash?
No. Moss had a more efficient method. Using the Rabbit Talisman, she accelerated, dodging the beam and circling behind Daolon.
Thud!
A swift knife-hand strike landed on the back of Daolon's neck.
"Ugh..." His eyes rolled back, and he collapsed to the floor, unconscious.
Jade arrived late, stepping inside just as Daolon hit the ground. She blinked. "It's over already?"
Moss smiled and casually kicked Daolon's staff aside. "Sorry you missed the action. Go call Section 13 to clean this up."
"Okay." Jade pouted but went off to find a phone.
Moss had a phone on her, of course—but she wanted Jade out of the room.
Once alone, she activated Receiving Magic and shifted into her Blood Queen form. Her mouth opened to reveal two sharp, gleaming white fangs.
Three minutes later, Jade returned.
"Why does his face look so weird?" she asked. She remembered Daolon being pale before—now he looked ghostly, like a deflated balloon.
"Probably anemia," Moss said casually.
More like blood loss. While she'd only intended to drain Daolon's magic, her vampiric nature caused her to siphon some blood along with it.
"I see," Jade nodded in understanding.
Two hours later, Section 13 arrived with Black leading the team.
Black looked at Daolon—now awake but clearly dazed—and frowned. "Is this old man alright?"
"He's a little anemic," Jade explained.
Moss nodded solemnly.
Black seemed satisfied with that.
"..." Daolon lay limp, casting a half-dead glare toward Moss.
He didn't know what had happened while he was unconscious, but one thing was clear: the anemia—or rather, blood loss—was only part of the story. His magic… was over 80% gone.
Normally, that was impossible. Magic didn't just vanish. There was only one explanation: the angel had done something to him.
That shameless, conniving angel!
She stole his spot, his talisman, and now even his blood and magic!
Daolon thought about the decades he had spent cultivating that magic, now gone in a flash. Grief flooded in—but the tears wouldn't come.
Unforgivable...
The more he thought, the more furious he became. But his body, weak from blood loss, couldn't keep up—and with a final huff, he fainted again.
"..."
Seeing this, Moss felt a bit worried. She still needed to ask about the sealing incantation for Shendu. She raised her hand and cast a small Holy Bubble, glowing with rainbow light.
"Ooh~ that feels amazing!"
Jade and Black felt refreshed as the holy glow washed over them, like soaking in a warm spa. Their stress and fatigue melted away, leaving bright smiles behind.
"ARGH—!"
Daolon's eyes bulged as he screamed, his whole body convulsing violently before passing out again, white-eyed and foaming at the mouth.
Moss dispelled the Holy Bubble. "Guess I can't heal him."
She'd overlooked one thing: the holy energy from the bubble was like torture for a Dark Chi wizard like Daolon. It was like he was being electrocuted.
Just like when Valmont was possessed by Shendu in the original story—when touched by the Pan'ku Box, the resulting holy-chi clash generated enough current to shock Shendu's soul into unconsciousness.
Still, Daolon was resilient.
Good thing I left him some magic, Moss thought.
If he died, getting that sealing spell would be ten times harder.
Black, unaware of all this, assumed Daolon had simply sustained heavy injuries. "No worries. Section 13 has state-of-the-art medical tech. We'll get this gentleman patched up."
He ordered his team to load Daolon onto a stretcher, hook up a ventilator, and transport him to HQ.
While Daolon reeled in humiliation, Moss was in a great mood.
Her magic had nearly doubled!
Though the increase was mostly dark magic, the Tiger Talisman's power of balance made it no problem at all.
The real treasure? The Tiger Talisman itself!
She'd originally hoped to get it through Shendu's route—but Daolon unexpectedly gifted it to her. Two for the price of one.
Moss looked at her evolution panel.
The Tiger Talisman's balance energy had caused dramatic changes to her evolutionary paths.
Name: MossSpecies: Digimon · Ultimate Level · Free Type · Angel Class · AngewomonSkills: Holy Arrow, Heavenly Violet Light, Holy Bubble, DigiSoul, Receiving Magic, Talisman PowerTime Remaining in World: 22 DaysEvolution Paths: Venusmon 30%, Goddramon 15%, Ophanimon 10%, ClavisAngemon 5%, Divine Angewomon 3%, Lilithmon 3%...
Originally, Ultimate evolutions were lumped under "Ultimate Evolution," some Perfect (Ultimate) forms under "Variant Evolution," and others under "Corrupted Evolution."
Before, the total probability had to equal 100%—if one went up, another went down.
But now, everything had changed!
Each evolution path was now distinct and independent. Each percentage was calculated separately. No more interference between outcomes.
Moss thought: It's gone from gacha luck to performance grind. Less RNG, more planning.
Though the "gacha" element still existed.
For example, if she "rolled" in the ClavisAngemon path, it would only result in ClavisAngemon or nothing—not a random Digimon from another line.
All directions were now clean and orderly.
Clean—yes, that was the word.
Compared to the chaos of before, this was streamlined.
Moss was satisfied. "It's different from what I expected—but in a good way. And there were some happy surprises, too."
What kind of surprises?
The chances for Goddramon, Lilithmon, and LadyDevimon had all gone up by 2-3%.
And Moss hadn't done anything recently to increase those percentages—she'd even stopped her nightly "boost" sessions with Lilithmon.
So what caused the increase?
Only one answer: the Tiger Talisman.
She thought for a moment and understood.
Though it represented balance, the Tiger Talisman was still derived from Shendu's power.
And what is Shendu?
A noble dragon—and a demon sorcerer.
Thus, absorbing the Tiger Talisman gave her both balancing power, some dragon factor, and some demonic factor.
The dragon factor boosted Goddramon's rate. The demonic factor raised the odds for Lilithmon and LadyDevimon.
And not just those—dragon factor also enhanced Cyberdramon, and the demon factor boosted Myotismon and Zombieman Satan Mode.
But Moss didn't care much for Cyberdramon, and she'd already absorbed Myotismon and Zombieman Satan Mode. So those boosts didn't matter.
By contrast, Goddramon—though not the prettiest—was still an Ultimate.
Lilithmon was also Ultimate.
LadyDevimon, though only Perfect-level, was tied to the Mastemon evolution path.
So Moss paid extra attention to these three.
…
After watching Daolon get hauled off to a Section 13 hospital room, Moss didn't rush to ask about the spell. He wouldn't wake up soon anyway.
She returned to her assigned room and held out her hands.
In her left palm swirled a dark-purple aura—black magic.
In her right, a bright violet light—holy energy.
Two opposing forces, effortlessly balanced.
"So this is yin-yang harmony," Moss murmured with a smile.
At the same time, a new evolution path appeared on her panel.
One she had long been waiting for.
