Hope!
Bulma wasn't unfamiliar with that word. She had clung to hope and endured more than twenty years under the looming threat of the androids.
But the result…
Even her only remaining family—her son—was gone. The moment she saw Future Trunks' corpse, the flame of hope inside her was extinguished.
With no Trunks and no time machine, she had no choice but to give up.
To someone whose heart had already given up, the kind of spirit radiating from Moss—so much like hope—felt almost blinding.
Bulma lowered her head. "There's nothing left there."
So, just give up already.
But Moss's expression didn't change. She simply said, "The one who stole the time machine threw a ki blast at me—almost killed me. I'm definitely paying that back."
It wasn't an empty threat. Moss knew she stood no chance against Cell—but still, she had to return the favor.
Even if it wasn't lethal, even if it only mildly annoyed him—she would make him pay!And if she picked the right moment, she might even make him choke on it.
"You want revenge?" Bulma blinked in surprise.
She stared into Moss's eye—half her mask was broken, revealing the left side of her face.
The eyes are the windows to the soul. Many things that can't be said out loud are revealed there.
Bulma wasn't exactly an expert, but she could tell: Moss may have wanted revenge, but that wasn't the whole story.
That awkward way of expressing things reminded her of someone—Vegeta.
Bulma couldn't help but smile. Her mood seemed to lift slightly. "Alright, I'll tell you where Korin Tower is. But don't get your hopes up. There's really nothing there."
She wasn't joking. Korin Tower had been destroyed years ago. That's why Senzu Beans became rare and non-renewable—they were completely used up years ago.
After learning the location of Korin Tower, Moss brought Bulma home first, then took to the sky, transforming into a blur of light with the Rabbit Talisman, shooting toward the tower's remains.
"What's Korin Tower?" asked Angewomon.
She'd been quietly listening while Moss and Bulma talked, not interrupting until now, with only the two of them left.
Moss explained, "It's the home of a hermit who grows something called Senzu Beans. Not only can one bean keep you full for ten days, it can instantly restore you to perfect health."
Angewomon nodded in understanding. "You want to use the Senzu Beans to heal your DigiCore?"
For any Digimon, a mortal wound would always involve the core—the DigiCore.
The DigiCore is a Digimon's most vital organ, storing energy, data—like a combination of heart and DNA. Damage to it is usually fatal.
Moss had taken a direct hit from Cell's ki blast. Her outer body was wrecked, yes, but the internal damage was far worse—her DigiCore had cracks.
If not for the Dog Talisman's power of immortality, she would've died on the spot!
That's also why, even knowing she couldn't win, she still wanted revenge on Cell.
Moss said, "The beans are gone. I'm not really aiming for Korin Tower—but what's above it."
Angewomon asked, "What's above?"
Moss replied, "The Lookout, Earth's heavenly temple. There's a room up there where time is warped. It's called the Hyperbolic Time Chamber—a year inside equals just one day outside."
But while that's a game-changer for Saiyans and fighters seeking rapid power growth, for her… it wasn't very useful.
Because she could only stay in the Dragon Ball world for thirty days—and that time is counted personally. Even a full month in the time chamber still counted as thirty days for her.
Moss added, "Besides that, there might be another room—one that lets you travel through time… though, I'm not sure it really exists."
That time-travel room was from the anime filler arc. It may or may not exist in this timeline.
Angewomon murmured, "Moss, you're so kind…"
Because she couldn't be sure that time room even existed, Moss didn't tell Bulma—clearly because she didn't want to give her hope only to see it crushed again.
That kind of thoughtfulness… it's just so kind.
"Don't get sappy," Moss replied.
"But I really like this kind of you," Angewomon said sweetly.
Moss felt a little flustered by the sudden compliment. She gave a light cough and carried on, pretending nothing happened.
Ten minutes later, she arrived at the remains of Korin Tower.
Among the lush green forest, pieces of the tower's stone pillar lay scattered all around.
This was what was left of Korin Tower. Just as Bulma said—there was nothing left here.
The androids' devastation had been even more widespread than she imagined. According to Trunks in the original story, the androids killed almost everyone—only tens of thousands survived.
Moss flew low, circling until she found the base of the pillar—then soared straight up toward the sky.
Both Korin Tower and the Lookout exist in different spatial dimensions—if they didn't, satellites would've spotted them long ago.
Before long, Moss saw a floating structure in the clouds.
It was the top of Korin Tower.
Its outer shell had holes everywhere—it looked like a white dorayaki that had been chewed up by rats.
"There's no one left here," Moss said after scanning it with her senses. She didn't stay, and flew higher—eventually reaching a massive domed building.
Its surface had many cracks and holes, but it still looked somewhat majestic.
"That's the Lookout?" Angewomon asked in awe.
"Yep." Moss landed on the floor of the Lookout.
The white marble tiles and palace halls were all damaged to various degrees. No one had repaired them for years. That meant no one had lived here in a long time.
Even Mr. Popo was gone, it seemed…
Moss's heart sank.
Her boots clacked on the floor tiles as she landed. The sharp sound helped her steady herself. She quickly dashed toward the main palace and pushed the doors open.
Her goal was the rumored time-traveling room—if it existed.
But with no guide to lead her, she had to check the rooms one by one. Thankfully, the Rabbit Talisman gave her speed.
Click click click click…
One door after another swung open. Moss scanned each room quickly. Most were completely empty. But when she reached the seventh room, something finally caught her eye.
Various jars and bottles were arranged on shelves.
"A storage room?"
Moss paused her search and approached a carved sculpture.
It was a life-like dragon statue—sculpted with stunning detail. The material looked like hard clay or maybe white marble.
"Shenron!"
This was a model of the wish-granting dragon summoned by the Dragon Balls.
Shenron had been created by Kami. And Kami's life was tied to Piccolo. When Piccolo was killed by the androids, Kami died as well—causing Shenron to disappear and the Dragon Balls to become inert.
Moss picked up the statue and examined it. "Huh? There's a soul inside this model!"
A soul inside the Shenron sculpture—what else could it be?
It had to be Shenron himself!
Sheep Talisman!
A sharp glint appeared in Moss's eyes. She activated the power of Astral Projection.
A semi-transparent dragon spirit suddenly emerged from the model—eyes closed, body covered in green scales, floating through the air like a seaweed strand in water.
It didn't seem conscious.
Moss furrowed her brows.
She grasped the spirit—originally intending to return it to the model—but paused.
"What if… I absorbed this dragon soul? Would I gain Shenron's wish-granting powers?"
