Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 – The Final Curtain

The aftermath of Snow's interview was nothing short of explosive. Social media was flooded with discussions about his return, his performance, and most notably, the weight behind his words. Some fans were ecstatic, calling it the rebirth of a legend, while others were skeptical, questioning whether he could truly reclaim his former glory. News outlets analyzed every frame of the interview, dissecting his expressions, his tone, and even the hesitation in his responses.

But while the world buzzed with excitement, Snow had little time to dwell on it.

His final day on set had arrived.

The production crew bustled around, making last-minute adjustments. The set, dimly lit with an eerie glow, was designed to resemble the ruins of an abandoned church—his character's final battleground. The script dictated that his role, a loyal companion to the protagonist, would meet his end protecting his friend from a fatal blow. It was a tragic but noble end.

Snow adjusted his costume, feeling the weight of his character's fate settling over him. Despite it being just another role, an unsettling thought gnawed at him: Was this foreshadowing his own future?

"Snow, we're ready for you," the assistant director called.

Taking a deep breath, he stepped onto the set, the heavy silence pressing down. The director gave final instructions before calling action. The fight scene unfolded with raw intensity—clashes of steel, desperate dodges, and bloodied knuckles. Then came the moment of sacrifice. Snow's character leaped in front of the protagonist, taking the fatal strike meant for his friend.

Time seemed to slow as he fell to the ground. He lay there, his body limp, eyes gazing toward the heavens. A whisper of a smile played on his lips as his final breath left him.

"Cut!"

The set remained eerily quiet for a moment before erupting into applause. The crew, the actors—everyone stood in awe at the performance he had delivered. The director wiped his eyes before stepping forward. "That… was perfect. Snow, that was beyond what I imagined."

Snow sat up, blinking as reality set back in. He forced a small smile. "Glad I could deliver."

As the shoot wrapped up, a bittersweet feeling settled over him. This was supposed to be his stepping stone back into the industry, yet an unshakable unease remained. Ryan, who had been watching from the sidelines, approached him with a smirk.

"Damn, Snow. You really do die beautifully."

Snow chuckled, though he felt something off in Ryan's tone. "I'll take that as a compliment."

Ryan patted his shoulder, but there was a slight pressure in his grip. "You should." Then, leaning in just slightly, he murmured, "After all, this might not be the last time you play dead."

Snow froze.

Ryan pulled away with a grin, acting as if nothing happened. "Drinks later? We should celebrate."

Snow forced himself to nod, but his mind was already elsewhere.

The cameras had stopped rolling, but something told him the real performance was just beginning.

TO BE CONTINUE.
