Chapter 45 - The Production Class Academy!

The night after their triumphant breakthrough, Jack's family gathered around a grand feast, their spirits soaring with joy. The long days of effort, the endless meditation, the grueling battles against their own limits had all led to this moment.

The dining hall glowed under the soft flicker of candlelight, the scent of roasted meats, buttered vegetables, and freshly baked bread filling the air. A warm, golden hue danced along the wooden walls, casting wavering shadows that made the room feel alive with celebration.

Clink!

James raised his cup high, the glint of victory in his sharp eyes. "To our breakthrough! And to the many adventures ahead!" His deep voice carried the weight of their struggles and the promise of greater things to come.

"To the future!" Emma chimed in, her eyes shining as she blinked her glass against his, the crisp sound of metal against glass ringing through the room.

Laughter bubbled up from the table as Sofia, unable to contain her excitement, eagerly stuffed her mouth with roasted meat. The juices dripped onto her fingers, but she hardly cared. "You guys were amazing!" she mumbled through a mouthful, her words barely comprehensible.

Jack chuckled as he ruffled Sofia's hair, her admiration warming his heart more than the fire crackling in the hearth.

Ava leaned back in her chair, swirling the deep red wine in her glass before taking a slow sip. "Enjoy this moment," she mused, a knowing smile curving her lips. "It's not every day we reach new heights. But tomorrow…" Her gaze shifted toward Jack, her emerald eyes gleaming. "Tomorrow, we set our sights forward."

The words hung in the air like an unspoken promise.

The night stretched on, filled with the sounds of clinking silverware, hearty laughter, and the occasional crackle of burning wood. Every bite of food tasted richer, seasoned with triumph, and every shared story carried a deeper meaning.

James recounted his hardest battle during his breakthrough, his voice growing more animated with each detail. "I could feel it like I was on the edge of something vast. One step away from failing, one breath away from breaking through. And then" He clenched his fist, eyes burning. "It all clicked. My power surged, and suddenly, I was stronger than I'd ever been."

Emma smirked, sipping her drink. "You're dramatic," she teased. "I just focused, pushed through, and there it was. Simple."

James scoffed. "You make it sound easy."

Sofia gasped, eyes wide. "Will I get that strong too?"

Jack smiled, watching her excitement. "In future when you turn 16. If you keep training, you'll surpass us all one day."

The flickering candlelight cast warm shadows across their faces, highlighting their smiles, their joy, their bond. In this moment, they were more than just warriors, they were family, celebrating not just their strength but the journey they had walked together.

Outside, the wind howled faintly, rustling through the trees like a whisper of the world beyond their home. The stars twinkled above, silent witnesses to their triumph.

As the embers of the fire burned low and sleep beckoned them, they knew this was only the beginning.

The Next Morning - A Surprising Announcement

As the first rays of dawn peeked over the horizon, golden light spilled through the windows, casting a warm glow over the modest dining table. The aroma of freshly baked bread and sizzling bacon filled the air, mingling with the faint scent of embers from the dying hearth. Jack's family sat together, their plates full, their spirits high. Though the feast from the night before still lingered in their minds, today held new possibilities for a day for adventure.

James took the last bite of his breakfast and set his fork down with a decisive clink. "Let's head to the Adventurer's Guild," he announced, his voice steady with purpose. "Time to see what quests await us."

Jack nodded eagerly, excitement dancing in his eyes. Ava wiped her mouth with a napkin, already pushing her chair back. Emma, ever the meticulous one, checked her gear before flinging her satchel over her shoulder. The energy around the table shifted from leisurely conversation to focused anticipation.

As they stepped outside, the streets of Jakartha City were already alive, a symphony of urban life unfolding before them. The calls of merchants hawking their wares blended with the rhythmic clang! clang! of blacksmiths forging weapons and armor. The tantalizing scent of roasted meat and spiced cider drifted through the air, teasing Jack's senses as they weaved through the bustling crowd.

"Fresh fruit! Straight from the southern orchards!" a vendor called, waving a glistening apple.

"Enchanted trinkets! Protective charms to ward off misfortune!" another voice chimed in, his stall lined with glowing amulets.

Boots scuffed against cobblestones. Horses neighed as carts rattled past. Laughter and chatter spilled from a nearby tavern, where a group of adventurers clanked their tankards together in celebration. The city was a living entity, pulsing with energy.

As Jack and his family neared the towering structure of the Adventurer's Guild, a grand building with intricate carvings of mythical beasts lining its archways, a sudden voice rang out, sharp and commanding, cutting through the noise.

"Attention! Attention, citizens of Jakartha!"

A group of armored guards stood at the entrance, their uniforms emblazoned with an unfamiliar crest. The crowd hushed as a tall man with an air of authority stepped forward, his armor gleaming under the morning sun.

"The Grand Academy of Ascendants has officially opened its doors! Any Ascendant under the age of twenty-one is eligible to apply! The Academy offers specialized training in all Production Classes, including Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, and more! Enrollment begins today!"

A ripple of murmurs surged through the crowd, growing into an excited frenzy.

"A new academy?" an older man muttered, gripping his staff tightly. "This could be the opportunity of a lifetime for our youth!"

"I heard they've gathered the best master craftsmen from all over the Samsara continent!" another adventurer whispered, his voice brimming with awe.

A woman clutched her child's hand, her eyes shining with hope. "Finally, a place to properly train in a Production Class instead of relying on trial and error."

Jack exchanged glances with his family. The possibilities laid before them were endless, their minds whirring with the implications.

"This could be our chance," Emma said, her tone thoughtful as she glanced at James and Ava. "We've always focused on combat, but learning a Production Class could make us even stronger."

James stroked his chin, nodding in agreement. "An Ascendant who knows a Production Class will always have an advantage. Weapons, potions, enchantments having those skills could be the key to surviving and thriving."

Ava folded her arms, her piercing gaze filled with contemplation. "It's worth considering. Mastering crafting, alchemy, or enchanting could make our journey far easier in the long run."

Jack listened to their discussion, a slow smile forming on his lips. He could feel it a shift in destiny, an unseen force nudging them toward an unexpected yet intriguing path.

"If you're all interested," he said, his voice steady, "we should go check it out. No harm in seeing what they offer."

The decision was made.

With a shared sense of purpose, they turned toward the newly established Jakartha City Academy of Ascendants and Production Masters. The road ahead had taken an unexpected twist, but something in Jack's gut told him this was the right path.

Their journey as adventurers had only just begun, but now, a new chapter awaited them.

And with it, the promise of endless possibilities.

The murmurs in the streets swelled like an encroaching tide, voices overlapping in a restless symphony of excitement and curiosity. The air thrummed with energy as Jack and his companions made their way toward the academy, a grand fortress of knowledge and power that loomed over the city like a monument to ambition. Towering spires stretched toward the heavens, banners unfurling in the wind with a heavy whump each emblazoned with the academy's emblem, a sigil of prestige and legacy.

Jack's gaze locked onto the massive iron gates. Yet, as he stood there, a weight settled in his chest a nameless unease, a flicker of doubt gnawing at the edges of his resolve.

James broke the silence, his voice low but firm. "Jack, I think we need to talk about this."

Emma nodded, her expression unusually serious. "The academy only allows applicants under twenty-one."

Jack's pulse quickened. He already knew where this was heading.

"…which means you're the only one who can enter," Ava finished, arms crossed, her usual smirk absent.

The words hung in the air like an axe suspended by a thread.

Jack's throat tightened. "Then… maybe we don't have to do this. We've trained together all this time"

"Jack." James placed a firm hand on his shoulder, his grip solid, grounding. His eyes held a mixture of pride and something deeper and unspoken hope. "This isn't about us. It's about you."

Emma stepped closer, her voice softer but no less urgent. "Think about it. This academy can offer you something we can't. We can train you to fight, but a Production Class? That's an entirely different world. You'd be gaining knowledge, skills and things that could shape our future."

Ava scoffed, but there was no mockery in her tone. "Besides, knowing you, you'll probably make everyone else look like amateurs."

Jack exhaled slowly, his heart pounding against his ribs. Production Classes… He had never considered that path before. Combat had always been his world, his purpose, his drive. The idea of stepping into something so unfamiliar left his stomach twisted in knots. What if I fail? What if this isn't the right choice? But then… What if it was?

The academy loomed before him, its gates seeming both inviting and ominous. A path unknown, a destiny unwritten.

He clenched his fists. This was more than just a choice. It was a step into the unknown.

The wind howled through the streets, as if the world itself urged him forward.

Finally, he met their gazes, his voice steady. "Alright. I'll do it. I'll join the Academy."

James, Emma, and Ava exchanged glances before nodding, their expressions a mixture of relief and expectation.

"Then we should hurry," Emma said. "Admissions start today."

As Jack stepped forward, the iron gates groaned open with a slow, heavy , as though awakening from a deep slumber. A strange mix of exhilaration and trepidation churned within him.

This was it.

A new chapter in his journey had begun.
