"Jack mentioned something about someone trailing me days ago," she continued. Initially I didn't take it seriously but now I think I should. Find out who sent them."
Zephyr's tone turned grim. "Boss, when did you start ignoring things like that?" Zephyr scolded. "I don't want to believe that man has made you lose your guards and you're beginning to be careless."
"In addition to what's going on, I have to put up with your scoldings…Don't you think I know that?"
"Alright. I'll double-check."
"Good. Pull any street cam feeds you can. If they're watching us, it's only fair I watch them back."
There was a long pause before Zephyr spoke again, quieter this time. "Shan… are you scared?"
Shantel didn't answer immediately. Her fingers stilled on the phone's edge, her breath catching just slightly.
"I'm aware," she said finally. "And that's more useful than fear."
