The masked man, Obito Uchiha, had never intended to fight Sakiya to the death. Yet Sakiya seemed to know exactly how to disrupt his technique—interrupting the flow of his Kamui at the perfect moments. Now, countless chakra threads crisscrossed the space around him, pinning him in place.
Glancing at the girl skillfully manipulating the chakra lines from a distance, his eyes grew cold.
"It looks like a game is about to begin," he thought.
Just as he steeled himself for a counterattack, a familiar, whispered command reached his ears:
"Obito, give me a chance to intervene."
His masked expression remained unchanged. He recognized the voice immediately—it was Black Zetsu.
Obito scoffed but did not dwell on the offer. Instead, he activated his teleportation technique, his figure blurring as he dashed through a small gap in the chakra threads, slipping into his brief state of intangibility.
The moment he reappeared, he swung his Gunbai fan behind him—its razor edge slicing through the dense, steel-like chakra threads. Sparks flew as they clashed, but one by one, the threads snapped.
Without hesitation, he spun the fan in a full circle. The sweeping arc sent another burst of sparks flying as nearly all the surrounding threads were severed. Now, with a path cleared, he charged directly toward Sakiya.
Watching this unfold, Sakiya showed no surprise. She knew that while her chakra threads were powerful, they sacrificed some durability for cutting power. Even so, they were strong enough to rival steel cables. But she also knew that Obito's fan was not to be underestimated—it could slice through even the toughest defenses with ease.
Sakiya's eyes narrowed as her delicate fingers flitted and clawed wildly in the air. In the next instant, the chakra threads in the cutting zone tightened and began slicing with even greater speed. The battlefield became a whirlwind of deadly lines, each moving with precision.
Obito's Sharingan spun as he tracked every movement. Above, below, front and back, the threads closed in from all directions. He had to react perfectly.
But the speed at which he swung his fan couldn't keep up with the relentless assault. A rogue chakra thread grazed his mask, leaving a faint scratch. Another wrapped under his arm and along his inner thigh—one wrong move, and he'd be cut.
Realizing the danger, Obito shifted tactics. Without hesitation, he re-entered his intangible state, using his momentum to leap into the air, aiming for a gap in the deadly web.
However, Sakiya was ready. In an instant, she projected several more chakra threads, cutting off his escape route.
"You're not getting away that easily," she murmured, eyes gleaming.
A few chakra threads once again passed harmlessly through Obito's intangible body, keeping him in his ghost-like state for a while longer.
Sakiya quickly raised her hands, and dozens of chakra threads shot forward, creating a makeshift cutting zone in midair.
Obito had no choice but to drop back into the chakra-threaded battlefield below.
This time, however, he didn't seem worried. Instead, he smiled smugly and said, "Oh? If this keeps up, I might actually die."
Sakiya twirled her fingers, adjusting the threads with confidence. "If you realize you can't win, you should surrender. I'll spare you."
But Obito was merely keeping her distracted. By now, Black Zetsu had silently crept up behind her.
Within arm's reach, Zetsu's hand morphed, forming a sharp wooden spike from his palm. Without hesitation, he thrust it forward, aiming for her back.
Sakiya, focused on controlling her chakra threads, didn't notice.
Shhk—
A sharp wooden tip burst from her chest, crimson blood dripping from its edge.
The sudden pain, the unexpected attack…
Her eyes widened in shock.
Disbelief flooded her expression as she slowly looked down at the wooden spike piercing through her body. Then, weakly, she lifted her gaze toward Obito.
"You… you coward! You would stoop to this!?"
A surge of chakra pulsed through the wooden spike. The technique began rapidly absorbing her life force, her chakra, making the wood grow and spread.
Shhk—
More jagged wooden branches erupted from her small frame. Blood spilled from her lips as she gasped. Her body trembled, her legs wobbled, and she staggered forward before collapsing onto the ground.
Yet, despite her injuries, she still lifted her head, her crimson eye locking onto Obito.
"I am the Eye of Death… and the Eye of Death will never perish!"
Black Zetsu chuckled darkly, his voice dripping with amusement.
"But you're dying. And when you do… I'll take that eye for myself."
Yet, something about this moment didn't sit right with Obito.
Why… why were the chakra threads still moving?
"The Eye of Death can't die?"
Obito's heart pounded. His eyes widened in shock as he stared at the girl, still standing, still unharmed.
He had been tricked again.
[Kamui duration: 3 minutes and 56 seconds]
If this continued, he would be sliced to pieces.
Without hesitation, Obito activated his teleportation technique and leaped toward his pre-planned escape route.
But Black Zetsu also sensed something was wrong. Sakiya should have died, yet she hadn't. Even stranger, the chakra threads hadn't disappeared, and Obito's wire-cutting trap remained intact.
Reacting instantly, Zetsu stomped the ground. A massive tree vine shot up, coiling around Sakiya's fallen body. The vine tightened, pressing her small frame down as if to crush her completely.
Blood seeped between the tangled vines.
It looked like she was dead.
And yet…
The chakra thread field was still active.
Even as Obito ran, he could sense it—those threads were still following him.
[4 minutes and 20 seconds]
Shhk— Shhk— Shhk—
No matter how fast he moved, the chakra threads kept weaving around his body.
The field stretched for over a thousand meters now.
Even though it couldn't fully keep up with his speed, the further he ran, the harder it became to escape.
[4 minutes and 44 seconds]
Suddenly—Sakiya appeared directly in front of him.
She stood there, completely unharmed, her lips curling into a smug grin.
"Hmmm~ You're not getting away. Are you sure you don't want to surrender?"
[4 minutes and 54 seconds]
Obito was now only fifty meters away from Sakiya.
Her hands moved rapidly, weaving chakra threads through the air.
Since he was so close to her, the control over the chakra threads in his vicinity was at its sharpest—there was no way he could escape now.
Obito knew it.
He stopped running, coming to a halt just five meters in front of Sakiya. Their eyes met.
Instead of looking desperate, he let out a small chuckle. In a calm, almost amused tone, he said:
"I gave you a good fight. Can you at least tell me your name?"
Sakiya blinked, tilting her head. She hesitated for a moment, then lowered her hands. The deadly claws retracted, turning back into small, human hands.
She made a dramatic motion, framing her right eye with two fingers in a scissor shape. Her expression turned serious as she declared:
"Even if you're a fallen human, you're a worthy opponent. Fine, I'll tell you my real name."
Then, she started making strange gestures—twisting her hands, waving them around, and striking exaggerated poses.
"I am the wielder of the Eye of Death! The infinite-dimensional overseer, codenamed—"
[4 minutes, 59 seconds, 5…]
Obito watched, dumbfounded.
Can't she just say her name normally?
Then—Kamui's intangibility ran out.
In that instant, the chakra threads sliced through his body.
Sakiya spun one final time, striking a pose with her arms spread, palms up. Her face remained serious as she finished:
"Real name! Sakiya!"
And, as if to make it more dramatic, a glowing circle of energy expanded behind her, radiating in all directions.
Obito, still bleeding, sighed.
"She's definitely messing with me."
He smirked under his mask.
"Well… whatever. I think I understand you now. See you on the battlefield next time."
And with that—he vanished.
Zetsu had already fled using his Mayfly technique.
Sakiya stared at the empty space where they had been.
"...That technique is so broken."
