"Heya" (Male)
Standing at her side, Anna felt her heart drop to the bottom of her stomach. Standing next to her was a man who seemed close in age to her, holding what appeared to be the assault rifle that she was unable to find at Walmart when she was in the weapon section. She hadn't seen nor heard him, so having a man she had never met holding a gun and having no idea about what he wanted,d all that ran through her mind was all of the worst scenarios.
"H-hi" (Anna)
Anna wanted to move far away, but her distrust towards people was growing worse, even if all the man did was kill the creepy monster and say hi to her.
"The name's Greyson with an E." (Greyson)
"Oh, okay? My name is Anna." (Anna)
Anna was so befuddled by how the man... Greyson could go from cussing and shooting a monster in the head to smiling and introducing himself to a stranger in less than a minute. Tousled dirty blonde hair, sharp green eyes, square jaw, and sharp features, his taller frame with a bulky build. He stood there holding the rifle away, facing the barrel down and away from Anna. Her thoughts and observation were interrupted, causing her to jump slightly, although she was perched on the bike.
"Isn't moving around like that difficult?" (Greyson)
"Huh?" (Anna)
Talking to Greyson for Anna was like repeatedly getting whiplash.
"the shopping cart." (Greyson)
Looking at the shopping cart and back at Greyson, the fog of confusion in Anna's mind seemed to lift a little.
"Oh? Yes." (Anna)
A chuckle rose from Greyson, but his face became serious.
"I'd be careful if I were you." (Greyson)
"What?" (Anna)
Not even answering, Greyson lifted his rifle practically next to Anna's ear.
BANG!!!
Pop
Loud ringing
Anna pressed her hand over her ear, turning to look at what Greyson shot at. Her hearing rattled to the point where she nearly collapsed from a dizzy spell as her equilibrium was turned on its axis. Her eyes turned down to see a sizeable insect-like creature the size of a basketball sprawled on the ground. Making Anna shake in fear.
She didn't hear it. She didn't even know it was there. It would have probably killed her if Greyson hadn't shot it, just like the other monsters. The insect creature is large, like a basketball, shaped like a mosquito with the head of a bat, and covered in fur with large ears. Unlike a bat with a small mouth on the head, its mouth was what should have been the abdomen. Feeling a hand on her shoulder, Anna snapped out of it and looked at Greyson, confused and startled. Her hearing has yet to return, but she can tell Greyson is trying to talk to her. His earnest attitude was gone once more, making her feel like she would never be able to understand someone like him. He kept talking, his mouth moving in words, but Anna could only hear the ringing in her head.
Currently, the only thing that fully returned to her, unlike sound, was her balance and the feeling of standing on flat ground instead of the world being off-kilter. Greyson waved his hand in front of Anna's face, making her snap out of her silent contemplation. She spoke softly, knowing that just because she couldn't hear him didn't mean he couldn't hear her.
"Sorry, but you shot too close to my ear, so I can't hear you." (Anna)
Greyson looked puzzled for a second before recondition crossed his face. He started speaking once more as if he was most likely yelling.
"You don't have to yell. Do you have paper?" (Anna)
Scrunching his face, Greyson looked like he was thinking before Anna sighed again.
"You know what? I have my own." (Anna)
Anna grabbed three journals to keep track of what she had to do to survive and a large notebook to take notes on the monsters that had been appearing and what abilities they had. She didn't want to waste paper because, though she could probably get more notebooks from any other abandoned store, she intended to avoid populated places if it turned out her thoughts of monsters attacking cities were right. Grabbing a flashcard notebook, one of the smaller ones she got for even less information, she handed it to him with an unopened package of pens.
"Write down what you wanted to say. My hearing is starting to return, but I don't want to stay out in the open with things like that trying to kill us." (Anna)
Pointing at the corpse of the creature that Greyson attacked that had been next to her ear, Greyson took the items, writing things down.
