Chapter 73 - Yang Wei and Yang Chen discuss family loyalty

Soon, Yang Wei and Wang Yanjun arrived at the top floor.

As they passed the general manager's office, Yang Wei suddenly looked puzzled and asked the secretary leading the way, "Secretary Chen, isn't this President Luo's office?"

Secretary Chen replied indifferently, "President Luo is reporting to the chairman."

"The chairman?" Yang Wei's eyes widened in shock.

He had originally planned to approach Luo Bin to address the person Wang Yanjun had offended, but now Luo Bin was in the chairman's office.

In this branch of the company, there was only one person who could be called "chairman"—the one from the Yuwen family.

If they were here to discuss business and had the chance to meet the chairman of Yancheng Group, Yang Wei would have been thrilled. But this time, they were here to apologize.

The thought of the impending confrontation filled Yang Wei with dread, and he shot Wang Yanjun a fierce glare.

*Knock! Knock! Knock!*

Secretary Chen rapped on the chairman's office door.

"Come in!" Luo Bin's voice sounded from inside.

Secretary Chen gently pushed the door open. "Chairman, President Luo, they're here."

"Good, you may go," Luo Bin dismissed Secretary Chen.

As Yang Wei and Wang Yanjun stepped inside, they saw a young man seated in the chairman's chair, while Luo Bin stood nervously to the side—so nervous that he didn't even dare to sit.

Yang Wei's heart clenched violently. He had been sent to Jiangzhou to expand the market and was appointed as the chief executive here, which spoke volumes about his status and competence within the Yang family.

The moment he saw Yang Chen, though shocked, he immediately guessed his identity. Secretary Chen had mentioned that President Luo was reporting to the chairman, and since only Luo Bin and Yang Chen were present, it wasn't hard to deduce who the chairman was.

The realization that he had once dared to covet Yang Chen's wife nearly scared him out of his wits.

"Brother, this is the guy I offended earlier. I didn't offend any big shot!" Wang Yanjun, oblivious to Yang Wei's terror, pointed at Yang Chen.

*Smack!*

If Yang Wei hadn't figured out Yang Chen's identity by now, he would have been an idiot. Hearing Wang Yanjun's words, he shuddered and immediately slapped him hard across the face.

"Are you fucking blind? How dare you offend Mr. Yang? I'll kill you!" Yang Wei wasn't putting on a show—he was genuinely furious.

He rained down punches, landing seven or eight heavy blows until Wang Yanjun's face was covered in blood, collapsing to the ground like a dead dog. Yang Wei then kicked him a few more times for good measure.

Even then, Wang Yanjun still didn't understand why Yang Wei was beating him just for offending a measly live-in son-in-law.

From start to finish, Yang Chen remained silent, coldly observing the scene.

"Mr. Yang, I sincerely apologize. This piece of trash actually dared to offend you. Our family head has already made it clear—as long as you're satisfied, even killing this bastard is acceptable," Yang Wei said to Yang Chen after finishing his beating.

Wang Yanjun wasn't dead yet, but hearing Yang Wei's words scared him half to death. The family was willing to let him die just to appease Yang Chen.

Yang Chen's lips curled into a faint smile. "Do you know why he offended me?"

Yang Wei truly didn't know and shook his head, though his heart pounded with anxiety.

"Since you don't know, get the full story first. Then we'll talk about how to handle this," Yang Chen said, his smile bright.

Though he was smiling, Yang Wei felt a chill run down his spine.

"You bastard, what exactly did you hide from me? If you lie to me by even a single word, I'll kill you right now!" Yang Wei radiated murderous intent.

Wang Yanjun shuddered and didn't dare hide anything. He recounted how he had harassed Qin Yi, even repeating their conversation word for word.

Yang Wei trembled with rage. He had met Qin Yi before and knew she was Yang Chen's sister-in-law. What he hadn't expected was that Wang Yanjun had even considered abandoning his own sister for her.

"I'll fucking kill you!" Yang Wei lunged at him, delivering another brutal beating.

"Enough!"

Luo Bin, noticing Yang Chen's growing impatience, suddenly barked, "If you want to kill him, take him back to Zhoucheng. Don't dirty the chairman's office."

Yang Wei had truly gone all out—Wang Yanjun was now beaten beyond recognition.

"Mr. Yang, President Luo, I sincerely apologize. I lost my temper and couldn't control myself."

When Yang Wei looked at Yang Chen again, there was no trace of resentment in his eyes—only deep respect. "To make amends, the Yang family is willing to hand over all the Jiangzhou market share we've developed to your company and withdraw from Jiangzhou."

Though reluctant, this was an order from the Yang family head himself. When it was time to abandon the Jiangzhou market, they had to do it.

Over the past month, Yang Wei and the Yang family's PR team had invested significant resources and effort to carve out a share of the market. Though it was still far from competing with Jiangzhou's local top-tier enterprises, they had made considerable progress.

Now, all that hard work was being sacrificed as an apology.

"Based on my principles, anyone who dares to provoke my family ends up on my blacklist—or worse, dead."

Yang Chen stared calmly at Yang Wei before continuing, "One of you coveted my wife, and the other harassed my sister. Originally, you both would have died in an 'accident' on your way out of Jiangzhou."

Yang Wei's face turned deathly pale. He finally understood why his grandfather had insisted he come personally to apologize rather than simply abandon the Jiangzhou market. If he hadn't shown up today, he and Wang Yanjun would likely have met their ends in a staged accident within days.

"Since Mr. Yang mentioned this was the *original* plan, what do you intend to do with us now?" Yang Wei asked, surprisingly composed.

Yang Chen glanced indifferently at Wang Yanjun. Yang Wei immediately understood and snapped, "Get the hell back to Zhoucheng and apologize to Grandpa yourself. Whether you live or die depends on your luck."

Wang Yanjun couldn't leave fast enough—the atmosphere was suffocating. The moment Yang Wei spoke, he scrambled out.

Yang Chen narrowed his eyes slightly. "I won't punish the Yang family. In fact, I'll secretly help you expand in Jiangzhou. But in return, I demand the Yang family's loyalty—to me."

Yang Wei was stunned. He had thought the Yang family's efforts in Jiangzhou were doomed, but now, by sheer coincidence, not only were they spared, but they would also gain Yang Chen's support.

But what did he mean by loyalty?

"Mr. Yang, are you asking the Yang family to pledge allegiance to the Yuwen family?" Yang Wei's heart raced with excitement. The Yang family was just a minor first-tier family in Zhoucheng. If they could align themselves with the Yuwen family—one of the eight great families of Yanjing—Zhoucheng would be nothing in comparison.

But Yang Chen shook his head. "I mean the Yang family's loyalty to *me* personally."
