Chapter 8 - Cutting Ties

Lynn Jindong's face twisted in fury as his son's cold words echoed through the room.

"I truly regret ever bringing you into the Lynn family."

Yang Mo sneered. "Oh? Then let's make it easy for you. As of today, I have no relationship with the Lynn family anymore."

A shocked silence filled the dining hall.

Everyone froze, their expressions ranging from disbelief to sheer astonishment.

Except for Lynn Kuan.

Standing behind them, he barely contained his excitement. Inside, he was ecstatic—Yang Mo was actually cutting ties with the family!

This was perfect. One step closer to securing his inheritance.

But Lynn Jindong, trembling with anger, refused to accept it.

"You rebellious bastard!" he barked, taking two steps forward, his hand raised to strike Yang Mo across the face.

Just before the slap could land, Xiao Yong reached out and grabbed his wrist, stopping him.

"Husband, please calm down!" she pleaded.

Joey Yong, their mother, immediately turned to Yang Mo, her voice filled with urgency.

"Shao Mo! What nonsense are you saying? Apologize to your father right now! If you obediently apologize, we'll pretend this never happened!"

Yang Mo let out a low, mocking chuckle.

"No need." His eyes were cold. "I can't afford to be a part of your so-called family."

His words sent a ripple of shock through the room.

The sisters, watching from the sidelines, remained indifferent.

"He's bluffing," one of them murmured dismissively. "There's no way he can actually leave the Lynn family."

Lynn Jindong's patience had finally snapped. His face turned red with anger as he roared, "I'll give you ten seconds to apologize! Then you'll kneel for two hours, and we'll forget about this matter!"

Yang Mo's lips curled into a sneer.

This man still didn't understand.

If it weren't for their selfish decisions all those years ago, would he have suffered the way he did?

If he hadn't been picked up by a kind foster parent, he might have died alone on the streets.

And in the one year since he had returned to the Lynn family, had they ever treated him with even a shred of warmth? Had they ever shown a single ounce of guilt for what they did?

No.

Not once.

Yang Mo reached into his pocket and pulled out a neatly folded piece of paper. With deliberate movements, he unfolded it and placed it on the dining table.

A Parent-Child Severance Agreement.

His name was already signed at the bottom.

"Mister Lynn," he said indifferently, "all that's left is for you to sign."

The entire room fell deathly silent.

The moment he addressed his father as Mister Lynn, they finally realized…

He wasn't joking.

Joey Yong's face paled as she stumbled forward, grasping Yang Mo's wrist desperately.

"Shia Mo, don't do this!" she pleaded. "Do you know how painful it was for me when you left all those years ago? That's why I adopted little Kuan! You're my son! How could you bear to leave your own mother?!"

At her words, Yang Mo almost laughed.

How could he bear to leave?

Back then, he hadn't left voluntarily.

They had abandoned him.

Now, when he was the one choosing to leave, they suddenly couldn't bear it?

He turned to his mother, his voice chillingly calm.

"If you don't want me to leave, then send Lynn Kuan away instead."

A pin-drop silence followed.

Joey Yong's expression twisted in horror.

"You and little Kuan are both my sons! How could you ask me to send him away?!"

Lynn Xia, the eldest sister, furrowed her brows.

"Yang Mo, you've gone too far. No human being would make such a cruel demand."

Yang Mo glanced at her coldly.

"Miss Lynn, I said—call me Yang Mo."

His voice was firm, unyielding.

"Since you refuse to send your precious adopted son away, then sign the severance agreement."

Of course, he had never expected them to send Lynn Kuan away.

For them, a boy they had raised for seventeen years was naturally more valuable than the son they had abandoned at birth.

Lynn Kuan, barely containing his excitement, almost let out a laugh.

This was it. The moment he had been waiting for.

As long as Lynn Jindong signed that document, Yang Mo would officially be out of the family.

That meant…

He would be the only remaining heir.

The tens of billions of dollars belonging to the Lynn family—all his.

Of course, he had to maintain his pitiful act.

He stepped forward and placed a hand on Yang Mo's shoulder, his expression agonized.

"Brother Yang Mo," he said in a trembling voice, "if my leaving will make you stay, then… I'm willing to leave."

He even forced out a few tears.

Yang Mo almost laughed out loud.

This performance… so fake it was laughable.

And yet, the Lynn family actually fell for it.

Joey Yong gasped, immediately pulling Lynn Kuan into her arms. "Nonsense! Mommy would never send you away! Don't think about it, my good boy."

Yang Mo's patience had run out.

"Then sign the paper," he said flatly. "I don't want to waste any more time with you people."

Lynn Jindong, still furious, let out a cold chuckle.

"Well, well, well." His eyes were sharp as daggers as he reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a fountain pen.

"Someone like you doesn't deserve to be my son anyway."

With quick, decisive strokes, he signed his name at the bottom of the severance agreement.

Then, without hesitation, he viciously threw the document at Yang Mo.

"The Lynn family is one of the most powerful in all of Jinghai City. We only discard people—we're never the ones discarded."

Even now, he believed Yang Mo was just putting on a show, thinking this was a negotiation tactic.

He thought Yang Mo would eventually beg to stay.

But he was wrong.

Yang Mo looked down at the signed document in his hands.

The weight of it…

The final, irreversible end of his connection to this family.

For the first time in his life…

He was truly free.

Without another word, Yang Mo turned his back to them and walked away.

He never looked back.
