Chapter 7 - The Breaking Point

There was once a time when Yang Mo had missed breakfast. Not because he was careless, but simply because he had woken up late.

When that happened to Lynn Kuan, the entire family patiently waited for him. No one complained. No one blamed him.

But when it was Yang Mo?

No one waited. No one cared.

He had gotten used to it.

So now, as he stood at the dining table, watching them eat their extravagant meal, he let out a mocking chuckle.

"It's fine. You all eat. I won't. You never wait for me for dinner anyway," he said casually, his voice tinged with sarcasm. "For someone like me, even getting a few leftover scraps is the greatest kindness you people can show me. Isn't that right?"

SLAM!

A loud bang echoed as Lynn Jindong slammed his palm against the table, making the plates and bowls rattle. The sharp noise startled some of the sisters.

"Are you trying to rebel?!" Jindong roared. "You miss a meal, and instead of reflecting on your mistake, you dare to complain? This is what happens when you're raised by paupers—you don't know the rules!"

Lynn Ying, his third sister, sat calmly at the table, unfazed. She picked up a piece of meat with her chopsticks and brought it to her mouth, chewing slowly.

She didn't even look at Yang Mo.

"Why didn't you answer my call?" she asked indifferently.

There it was again.

That condescending attitude.

Yang Mo let out a low chuckle. "I have the freedom to answer my phone or not. What are you barking at?"

For a moment, the room fell silent.

Lynn Ying's eyes snapped toward him, her expression darkening.

"What did you just say?"

Yang Mo sneered, his voice unwavering. "Didn't you hear me? I said—what are you barking at?"

Lynn Ying's calm facade shattered instantly. She shot up from her seat, glaring at him, her fingers trembling as she pointed.

"You—you've gone against me, haven't you?" she seethed. "If I had known you were such a thankless bastard, I never would have let you into this family!"

Jindong's face was already twisted in anger.

Lynn Kuan, seeing the opportunity, decided to pour more oil on the fire. "Dad, I told you a long time ago, this kind of person doesn't deserve to be a member of the Lynn family."

The eldest sister also stood up, her expression filled with disgust.

"How dare you talk to your sister like that?" she snapped. "If you hadn't beaten Lynn Kuan, if you hadn't stolen things, if you hadn't tried to get your hands on the Lynn family fortune—would we have hated you so much?"

The second sister remained silent, but the way she stared at Yang Mo with thinly veiled disgust spoke volumes.

Only Lynn Kuan was smiling inwardly.

'This idiot is really digging his own grave,' he thought smugly.

Now, the entire family would hate him even more. One step closer to securing my inheritance.

Not wanting to waste the moment, Lynn Kuan put on his usual fake brotherly act and stood up. He slowly walked to Yang Mo's side, sighing deeply.

"Brother Yang Mo, I've always treated you like my own brother," he said, his voice dripping with insincere concern. "But today, you went too far. How could you talk to Third Sister like that? She was only calling because she cares about you."

Yang Mo felt a wave of nausea rise in his throat at the sheer hypocrisy.

He scoffed."Pro-brother? You can't wait for me to leave the Lynn family, right? Just stop talking. I'm already disgusted just looking at you—don't make me throw up my breakfast."

Lynn Kuan's face twisted for a second before he quickly recovered, forcing a grieved expression as he wiped at imaginary tears.

"Brother… how could you say that about me?"

Just as expected, their mother, Joey Yong, immediately came to his defense.

"Yang Mo, you've gone too far!" she scolded. "That's your sister and brother! Do you even have any respect for me as your mother anymore?"

Yang Mo snapped.

He turned his cold, piercing gaze toward her, his voice icy.

"I treated them as siblings. Did they ever treat me as a brother?"

"And you… as a mother?" He laughed bitterly."Do you even deserve to be called one?"

Joey Yong's face paled.

Yang Mo continued, his voice steady, but filled with suppressed rage.

"Ask yourself—does this biological son of yours even hold the same weight in your heart as Lynn Kuan?"

"I've been in this family for a year. Do you have any idea what my life has been like?"

"I had no money. After school, I worked at construction sites, carrying bricks for $20 an hour. Do you know how many times I got hurt just to earn enough for a meal?"

"The Lynn family villa is two hours away from my school. To save money, I woke up before dawn and walked there every day. Do you know that?"

"And when I was wronged… when I was accused of things I didn't do… if, even once, you had spoken up for me, it would have meant something. But you never did."

The room fell into a suffocating silence.

Joey Yong stared at him in shock.

She had often seen him come home covered in dirt, sometimes even with bruises and cuts.

She had believed Lynn Kuan when he said Yang Mo was just fighting with gangsters.

Now, for the first time, doubt crept into her mind.

Lynn Kuan quickly realized the situation was turning against him. He needed to divert their attention back to Yang Mo.

"Shut up!" Lynn Jindong suddenly roared, slamming the table again.

His voice boomed through the room.

He jabbed a finger at Yang Mo, his expression twisted in fury. "Don't you know how to talk properly?! You don't have money, you don't have a car, and you dare blame your family for your failures?! Only someone like you would do something so disgraceful!"

Yang Mo slowly turned to face him.

For the first time, there was no sadness in his eyes. No hope.

Only cold, absolute indifference.

He let out a soft chuckle.

"Family?" he repeated mockingly. "You people were never my family."

And with that, Yang Mo turned his back on them.

This was the end.

He was done with them.
