_____________

In reality, the relationship between Dumbledore and his brother wasn't as bad as he had made it sound.

At the very least, Aberforth hadn't refused to let the homeless Wade and Tom stay.

From Wade's perspective, Aberforth was just someone with a sharp tongue but a soft heart.

He may not spare his brother with words, but when it came to his brother's requests, he would still do his best to fulfill them...

In the end, Wade and Tom stayed.

Aberforth arranged a room for them on the second floor.

Since Aberforth had taken Wade in, Toby was very grateful to him.

Therefore, he volunteered to help Aberforth run the pub.

In his mind, as long as he put in enough work, the temporarily homeless masters would be able to live a little better.

For this, Aberforth didn't oppose. Having an extra house-elf to help meant he could take it easier.

As a result, his attitude toward Wade and Tom also softened a bit.

...

"Except for the attic, you can go anywhere else. If you want a drink, you can go down to the cellar and help yourselves. By the way, there are many other shops in Hogsmeade. If you want to buy something, feel free to go out and have a look."

Aberforth said this and turned to leave the room, taking the willing Toby with him.

After Aberforth left, Wade turned and lay down on his bed. He hadn't had much rest since last night, and now he was feeling a bit tired.

On the other side, Tom sat on another bed, pulled out a spellbook, and began reading it with full concentration.

For him, the only way to grow stronger was to keep learning nonstop, so he could escape from Wade, that damn snarky bastard!

"Tom, what do you think is in the attic? Why doesn't Mr. Aberforth want us to go up there?"

"This is someone else's home, they have their own privacy. What's so strange about that?"

"Okay... sigh, I'm so bored. Tom, how about we go out and take a walk?"

"No, you go by yourself."

Tom immediately refused. Last night, he was studying magic but was interrupted by the Pureblood Party. Now, he had to make up for the lost progress!

Wade pulled the blanket over himself and covered up properly, "Learning needs balance... At the very least, we need to rest well. Otherwise, it'll be all effort for nothing. Let's just take a nap."

"I don't care about effort for nothing. As long as I make progress, that's fine. You go sleep if you want to, just don't bother me," Tom said coldly.

What's wrong with being a little tired? I don't mind!

After a while, Wade sat up from his bed.

I fucking mind!!

"I'm sleeping, and you're studying... Tom, how could you do something so disruptive to our harmony? You're making me feel guilty!"

"I don't need you to worry. I can't sleep, so what's wrong with studying? Also, your snoring is bothering me!"

Wade narrowed his eyes, "You said... you can't sleep? That won't do..."

"What... what are you going to do?" Tom immediately felt something was wrong and looked at Wade with caution.

"Nothing, I just want to help you. Insomnia isn't good... Here, say hi to my sleepy charm!"

Woosh

"Wade! You're such an assho..."

Tom didn't finish cursing before he fell asleep, sleeping soundly...

"Ahem, no need to thank me, Tom."

Wade clapped his hands, and the blanket on Tom's bed automatically covered him.

Since they were in the same room, if Tom couldn't sleep, how could Wade fall asleep?

After checking Tom's sleep quality, Wade happily lay back down and pulled his blanket over himself.

This night had really exhausted him. Unlike Tom, who slept for as long as the Pureblood Party kept him up fighting, Wade had been busy dealing with them, so now Tom was still energetic while Wade was completely worn out.

Wade slowly closed his eyes, drowsily on the verge of falling asleep.

Suddenly, a muffled sound came from upstairs.

Thud!

Wade didn't pay much attention and continued to rest with his eyes closed.

Just as he was about to fall asleep again...

Thud!

The muffled sound came again.

After this sound repeated several times, Wade finally couldn't sleep anymore.

⊙﹏⊙∥

Although the sound wasn't very loud, strangely, it seemed to wake Wade up every time.

"..."

Wade stared at the ceiling in confusion. This time, he didn't try to sleep but quietly waited for the next sound to come.

He didn't have to wait long; about a minute later, the sound appeared again.

It sounded like a wooden stick tapping on a thick carpet.

Thud!

Wade sat up in bed. Finally, he started to figure something out.

This sound actually contained a faint magical power.

Moreover, it seemed that this magic had the ability to trigger the magic within other wizards, which was why he kept being woken up by this sound!

Wade had seen many magical objects with magic imbued in them at Diagon Alley.

But a sound with magical power... Apart from spells spoken by wizards, he had never heard of anything else like it.

If this sound could contain magic, could the object producing the sound use magic just by making this tapping noise?

That was an interesting thought. If he could figure out the principle behind it, maybe he could create a device that could automatically cast magic without a wizard needing to speak a spell!

At that moment, the sound rang out again.

This time, Wade heard it more clearly, and he keenly noticed that the magical power contained in this sound was much stronger than before!

Wade looked again at the ceiling. The upper floor... wasn't that the attic that Aberforth had forbidden them from going into?

What could be up there?

Wade's curiosity was piqued...

According to reason, since Aberforth had said not to go to the attic, Wade should have respected that and not gone up there, nor should he have asked about it.

However, this sound was too unusual, it seemed capable of waking wizards from their sleep.

Tom didn't wake up because he had been hit by a sleep charm... If he had been sleeping normally, he too would have been awakened by this sound.

So... Wade decided to directly ask Aberforth about it.

He was being disturbed by this sound, so asking about it was completely reasonable.

What if Aberforth was willing to tell him?

Even if he didn't, it would be better than quietly sneaking up to spy on someone else's secret.

Wade listened for a while longer, and after realizing that the magical power of the sound was getting stronger, he stood up, put on his coat, and opened the door.

The Hog's Head Inn, like the Three Broomsticks, also had rooms for accommodation.

However, its scale was smaller than the Three Broomsticks, with only 2 floors. It had fewer rooms, and most of them were concentrated on the 1st floor.

Wade and Tom occupied one of them, and the other rooms were empty today.

So, after Wade walked out of his room, he saw a narrow corridor.

One side of the corridor was the wall, and the other side had the doors to the guest rooms.

At each end of the corridor were stairs: one leading down and the other leading to the attic.

Wade closed the door, glanced at the stairs leading up, and then was about to turn and walk toward the stairs going down.

Just as he turned, he suddenly felt a chill behind him.

Could it be a ghost? Wade wondered to himself as he turned back around.

"Wow..."

When he clearly saw what was in front of him, Wade couldn't help but widen his eyes.

At the top of the stairs leading up, strange black mist was flowing down like water...

And the mist was gradually gathering together, slowly filling the entire enclosed corridor!
