Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Aurelius Dumbledore

____________

Watching the black mist gradually filling the corridor in front of him, Wade slowly backed away...

When facing a beast, the worst thing to do is to turn your back and run.

Wade was worried that if he turned around and ran, the black mist would suddenly rush towards him!

After all, a mindless, crazed entity... isn't that just like a beast?

Yes, when he saw the strange black mist and sensed the powerful magic within, Wade had already guessed its true identity.

The Obscurial, Credence Barebone... or rather, he should be called Aurelius Dumbledore, Aberforth's biological son.

Wade only knew that around 1930, after the Qilin election event ended, Aberforth had taken him back home.

As for his fate, Wade wasn't sure.

However, it had been seven or eight years now, and based on the short lifespan of the Silent Ones, even if Aurelius had extraordinary talent, his situation was undoubtedly very grim.

After all, this period of time had been long enough that even Nagini had gradually fallen into obscurity and disappeared from people's sight...

For Aurelius, an Obscurial, to still be alive was nothing short of a miracle.

As Wade was contemplating whether to break through the floor and jump down to escape or to slowly retreat down the stairs... Suddenly, he heard Aberforth's voice from behind.

"Don't move, don't panic..."

"!!!"

Upon hearing this, Wade immediately stopped in his tracks.

Then, Aberforth's figure appeared behind Wade.

He carefully approached the black mist.

"Calm down... Aurelius, calm down, you can do it. I believe in you, right?"

With Aberforth's gentle persuasion, the black mist began to tremble.

Gradually, the black mist that had filled the entire corridor slowly began to shrink, finally gathering in the corner of the corridor, turning into a pale young man.

His body trembled uncontrollably. "I... I can't hold on much longer... Please, kill me... I won't last much longer anyway. Rather than staying here not knowing when I'll lose control and hurt someone, it's better to just send me out of this world now..."

"Nonsense! What kind of son forces his father to kill him? Besides, there are magical protections set up by your uncle in the attic. Even if you lose control, you can't destroy it. Don't worry, you won't harm anyone."

"But this time, I unknowingly ran out, didn't I? Even your uncle's magic couldn't stop me completely... Father, just promise me... let it all end..."

Aberforth's face showed sorrow. "Don't say that anymore! Good child, let's go back. I'll stay with you until the end... You don't need to worry about anything else! Please... don't pressure me anymore..."

He supported Aurelius and slowly helped him to his feet.

Aurelius's pale face was filled with bitterness. He turned his head to look at Wade. "I'm sorry..."

It seemed like he wanted to say something else, but his mouth opened, and in the end, no words came out.

During this time, Wade said nothing, just quietly watching them, and finally, watching them slowly ascend the stairs toward the attic.

At that moment, Wade fully understood why Aberforth had forbidden them from going to the attic.

Because Aurelius hadn't died; he was living in the attic, and due to the great danger of an Obscurial losing control, many protective spells were set up in the attic.

If Wade wasn't mistaken, the sound he had just heard was the sound of an Obscurial in a state of uncontrolled rage, impacting the protective spells.

When he had walked out of the corridor, the Obscurus had just broken through the protective magic, ran out, and then they bumped into each other...

Soon, Aberforth came downstairs with a serious expression.

He came to Wade's side. "If you have any questions, ask them."

Aberforth knew that after the child had unexpectedly seen Aurelius today, there would definitely be a lot of questions. It would be impossible to not tell him anything.

At this age, children are the most curious, and if they go off looking for the "answers" on their own, they might cause trouble...

"What was that just now?" Wade had no choice but to ask symbolically.

"That was an Obscurial... You can understand it as a kind of illness, and the person who has that illness is my son, Aurelius Dumbledore. Anyone who contracts this illness can turn into an Obscurus at any time, losing their reason... This time was an accident, I've reinforced the protective magic again," Aberforth replied.

Wade looked at Aberforth's expression and didn't want to ask any more questions.

Because asking further would only make this poor father relive the tragic past he did not wish to remember.

Besides, he had already guessed most of the cause and effect, and there was no need to ask more.

"I don't have any other questions..."

Aberforth looked at Wade in surprise.

If it were him, facing something like this, he would definitely have a lot of questions. But Wade only asked one and then stopped?

However, Aberforth quickly understood Wade's thoughts.

"Alright... if you have any questions, come find me," Aberforth said, giving Wade a deep look before turning and walking down the stairs.

'This really is a very gentle child...' Aberforth thought to himself.

...

When Tom woke up, it was already three o'clock in the afternoon.

As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw Wade practicing Transfiguration, turning a matchstick into various shapes.

Bastard! You told me to sleep, but you're secretly working hard?

How shameless!

Wade looked up and saw Tom glaring at him with a face full of anger.

"How did you sleep? You look much better," Wade said.

"How I slept? Aren't you the one who knows best?" Tom glared at Wade angrily.

"Alright, alright, I know you don't want to see me, Tom," Wade waved his hand, "It doesn't matter, I was just thinking about how to leave anyway."

Tom frowned. "What do you mean?"

Wade took out a key and waved it in front of Tom.

"As someone who has five or six thousand Galleons stored in Gringotts, there's really no need for me to rely on others. Why not just buy my own house? If that doesn't work, I can always find a place and build one myself! Heh~ I have Toby to take care of my daily needs, so why do I need a guardian?"

With a large sum of Galleons and valuable gold bars, Wade certainly had the necessary conditions to live on his own.

The key thing was, living alone would allow him to conduct many of the experiments he had been considering but never had the means to carry out before.

These experiments could not be done with a guardian watching over him...

Tom shook his head. "Dumbledore won't agree to that. If he doesn't agree, you won't be able to do it. Don't bother thinking about it. You should know, he's not as friendly as he seems."

"You make a good point, but I'll figure something out." Wade frowned as he thought.

"Also, don't forget, those thousands of Galleons and gold bars, and my half of them!" Tom emphasized.

At the beginning, the work was done by two people, and the trouble was also caused by two people. The money earned—however it was earned—Tom deserved half!

"Oh, of course, of course, your share won't be left out." Wade put the Gringotts key back into his pocket.

After a long silence, Tom suddenly asked, "If... you can figure out a way to move out... can you take me with you?"

"What?" Wade looked at Tom in shock. "Didn't you say you didn't want to stay with me? Tom, don't get any ideas! I'm not interested in men!"

"Bastard! What dirty thoughts are in your head!" Tom's face darkened, "What I meant was... we move out together, get away from the so-called guardians, and then go our separate ways!"
