I got into a fighting stance, one that my broken ankle could allow and made a 'come here ' gesture.The creature descended, its breath hot and wet on my skin. I felt claws rake across my back, tearing through my clothes, my flesh.
The pain was excruciating, but it was the fear that paralyzed me. My screams echoed through the forest, a raw, primal sound ripped from the deepest part of my stomach.
I shot up from the bed, my eyes wide as I looked around frantically in my room. I relaxed once I saw it was a nightmare.
My body tensed again when I heard a knock on my door, I sighed and got up from the bed.

I raised my hand to knock again when the door opened, she stood there looking sullen and sad.
Her eyes were lifeless and the dark circles around her eyes were the evidence that she had been through a lot. Her sleeping shirt was drenched in sweat and I could imagine the nightmare she was having when I interrupted her.
"What are you doing here?" She asked me.
