Devin
"Why are you like this?" Maggie wailed. "You can't just get up and leave! You were dying just last week!"
Devin ignored her sister and continued packing her duffel.
"Can you talk to me?" She urged and wailed for what had to be the fifth time.
With a sigh, she turned around and stood before her sister. Devin spun around and leapfrogged three times and then stood again. " See," She motioned to herself. " I'm not dying, I think I can pose for a shoot."
Maggie fluttered her eyes as though she was holding tears.
Not knowing what else to do, she hugged her sister. Rubbing up and down her back to soothe her. " I'm going to be fine Maggie."
This all started when Maggie insisted on staying at her place last night. She was in the house waiting for her when she came back from the bridge incident. That didn't phase her much. She was used to this by now, her space was never hers. Plus, she did just have a major accident. The real issue she was having now was that Maggie was insisting on staying the entire week at her place. The bridge was looking like a better deal to her.
Now, Maggie was getting all hysterical because she was going to work. She was not going to pass up the opportunity, so she would just indulge in her sister's theatrics. Just this once.
A few more minutes of consoling, she convinced her to let her go. She would only begone only be gone for so long.
The vibe on the set was great. Even though she was just a step in, everyone was treating her nice. It wasn't as if she was not qualified enough. This was big opportunity. She could be happier that she was the second choice. The call this morning was a surprise to her. Who comes down with mono on the the day of their shoot?
The theme for this was butterflies, in relation to spring. Her makeup was a bright combination of blue an yellow in a beautiful way. She was kept calm and chatted with the others that were in the room. They just had their solo shots done so know it was time for the group ones.
Their was a guy among the set workers, who seemed to be supervising. Everyone tried to be their best whenever he came around. He was very hands-on for a guy for a CEO, she assumed.
They got into their poses as speed shots got taken. But through the flashes, someone had caught her attention. Dynos? He sat beside the guy who she thought was CEO and grabbed coffee from him. Why was he here? She thought. He had some nerve showing up after last night.
He seemed to be amused. She wanted to assume that she was imagining things, but he was clearly having a conversation with the guy. Nobody seemed to notice the random stranger sitting in the middle of such and important thing. She tried to ignore him as much as she could. Even though the bastard was so obviously staring at her.
After the shoot, he disappeared. But so did the CEO guy. She was worried for some reason. Dynos was not a vampire, so it was not like he took him to suck his blood. He also wasn't childish enough to plant negative thoughts about her into the man's head.
She walked back and forth for a while before deciding to head into the bathroom. As she came to a corner she bumped into someone and spilled a bit of her drink onto him. " I am so so sorry." She apologized, too embarrassed to look at his face.
"It's fine." The man said in a voice she recognized.
"Can't you look where you're going?" The CEO man added, "Should I bring a shirt from your office sir?"
Devin stared back and forth between them confused. Sir?
"No, I'll get it myself. I have files to go through, finish up here." Dynos said as he swished past her and headed to the elevator.
There she was, dumbfounded at what just happened. She felt like she jumped right into a movie. The whole thing didn't feel real, but it was, and everyone just ignored what happened. She watched as he waited for the elevator but didn't move towards him. He didn't say anything to her either. She thought about ignoring him too, but she didn't feel right. The word skin-walker, flashed her mind.
With boldness she stood beside him and entered the elevator alongside him. When he didn't say anything for awhile she thought for second that Dynos was actually a spirit. The idea of talking to a ghost this entire time terrified her. She began rethinking this elevator ride.
" Your spiraling." He said in a low voice. As soon as the elevator opened, he got off without saying another word.
She followed him, relieved. "I knew it was you."
Shedidn't.
He quirked his brow, "Did you?" His voice was mocking. "You thought I was skin walker."
She forgot that he could hear her thoughts. She shook her head." I'm not indulging you. What are you doing here, as if you own the place? You can't show up at my work place and control people." She whispered.
They walked past a bunch of people to clear hall. He stood in front of the door there. " I do own the place." He stated casually before walking into the office.
Devin stands in front of the door. " Someone will see us in the office. We shouldn't be here." She tells him. It was ridiculous to believe him. That would mean she didn't get the job by chance. He made it happen.
He opens the closest and picks a shirt from it. He seemed to at ease for her liking. "You're the one that shouldn't be in here. Considering the fact that you work for me now." He began to unbutton his shirt. "People will think you got the job because you're sleeping with me. It's kind of unethical."
" In your dreams."
He takes off the stained shirt, with his back facing her, unresponsive. She stares at his back the entire time, wondering to herself if all gods are built that way. She gives him a dirty look of anger. Of course, his back is perfect.
He sits in the chair and goes through the files on the table. "Pervert."
She marches over to the desk, after shutting the door. "I am not a pervert. You are the one that decided to change in front of me."
"And you were the one that decided to watch. I hope the view was worth your dignity."
She covered her face in her hands. " Why are you doing this to me? So what, I magically got this job or something, because you wanted me here?" She accepted the fact that he really did own the place.
" No... You're Ethan's last minute savior. I came late this morning so he handled things."
She removed her hands from her face and looked at him seriously. "You really had nothing to do with me being called?" She asked again.
He looked back at her with the same seriousness. "This is my workplace. I don't play with toys here."
Flabbergasted, she wondered why she even bothered to interact with him in the first place. Not only did he just insult her, but she was also supposed to see his face till fashion week was over. Which was three months away.
Focused he was, as he flipped through his papers. He ignored again. As if had the right to be mad. She was the one that almost died. Maybe he was just being professional, she reasoned. He was a psychopath but not that much... right?
He looked up and asked. " Are you going to stare at me all day?"
She flipped around and stormed out of the office. The entire interaction made her furious. He was treating her crap. She silently wished that she had punched him harder.

Despite the surprise that morning. Nothing else happened. In fact, the day was fine, or going to be fine. That is if she can keep her question to herself.
As soon she got home that afternoon, Maggie welcomed her. With food.
Now her sister was erratic, but she did have things she was actually good at. Like running the company, her family and cooking. She made all her favorites and served them for dinner. It was such a sweet gesture. She almost felt bad for always pushing her out.
Suddenly she put on a movie. It would have not meant anything if it was just some movie, but she put the movie. Ten things I hate about you was the movie we spent our childhood loving. When their mother was still alive. It was off limits unless a good cry was required. It wasn't a sad movie, but Maggie and their mother cried every time. Her playing it was not a good sign. Sam also hadn't called, which was also not good. Which begged the question, why was she really here?
Maggie wasn't what you would deem a completely selfish person, but she wasn't exactly selfless. She had a kid back home, so Devin couldn't fathom what she doing here without him. She had to be hiding something, but she didn't really want to ask. As long as she got food and some solace she really didn't mind her staying really. Maybe her and her sister weren't so different after all.
Halfway through the movie Maggie started bawling. Devin just sat still, trying her best to ignore the sobbing woman. She thought of what to do. She could pretend to sleep? But she was laughing a few seconds ago.
Maggie sniffled. "You can ask me you know?"
She winced. "What's wrong?" She tried her best to sound concerned.
She started between sobs, "I was drinking after I came back from the hospital..."
Notagain.
"I went to check Danny in the crib, but then Sam came in and saw that wasn't really myself..."
Sam hates it when she drinks. It seems to be the only time the guy acted like he had a spine. Something about his uncle dying? Devin never remembered. All she knew was that Sam hated it and it was about the only thing he could make Maggie quit doing. Or so he thought.
"He got so mad Devie... He took Danny from me and took him to the nursery, and then came back... yelling at me!"
"Sam can yell?" Devin joked.
Maggie wiped eyes with her hands. "That's...not funny Devie."
"Oh, come on... Sam gets mad? Tell me you filmed it?" She continued.
A smile formed on her face. She tried to suppress it. "Stop..."
Devin shrugged. "I'm just saying...where's that emotion when you make us wait in the parking lot for two hours, while you prance around at the mall. We could use a lot of that madness then." She trying to make her sister laugh.
She laughs out then. "You are such...a pain, I hate you." She wipes her face completely. "I know I said I'd stop, I did...but then I saw you. In the bed like that. I thought I was going to lose you too."
Watching her sister, she felt sorry. All this time, maybe she was the one being selfish. To her, she was fine, but to everyone else, she was in a serious accident. She needed to remember that non of what she was going through was normal. She had to show a little more empathy to her sister.
" Sarah asked of you."
Nevermind.
"Sarah asked of me. I nearly died on her property, and she only asked?" Devin got up to go to her room.
Maggie followed after her wrapped in a blanket. "She's our grandmother Devie. You can't ignore her forever."
"She stopped being my grandmother a long time ago. Goodnight Maggie." Devin slammed the door at her sister's face. Maggie was unbelievable. She used any moment she gets to bring up the fact that she wasn't speaking to their grandparents anymore. If she was keen on getting them to reconcile, the least she could do was try find out what happened.
"You are such a brat!" Her sister yelled from the other side.
That was rich, coming from the Disneyland princess herself. Devin didn't have anything to say to that. All she wanted was a goodnight sleep. Apparently that was the only good she could attain these days.
She tossed and turned in bed. There was a problem. She tried not to think about it, but Dynos was now very involved in her life. He was meant to grant her wishes but clearly he had no intention of meeting her so soon. Especially after last night it seems.
The image of him in the office popped in her head. He owned the place and his presence let her know. Him sitting there all serious and...working.
She froze.
Devin turned over and tried her very best to shut out all thoughts about him. What was wrong with her? She wasn't that type of girl. She was resilient and strong and NOT about to be one of those Stockholm syndrome girls. Or maybe, she was just ovulating.
She pressed her face against the bear stuffy beside her and screamed.
Shit.
She stared at the ceiling. " I think I find him... attractive?"
