CHAPTER 2
Kaira stood before King Letuka, her heart racing with anticipation. "I'd like to sleep in your chamber tonight, Your Majesty," she said, her voice laced with a hint of boldness.
King Letuka looked down on her because he's way taller than her and he closed the little gap between them, fiercely holding onto her jawline, bent down and looked into her eyes,his eyes glinting with amusement. "Consider yourself lucky, Kaira. If not, you'd be six feet under by now." His words sent a shiver down Kaira's spine, but she refused to back down.
On hearing that, kaira moved back immediately, she looked stunned, and scared at the same time.. she immediately went on her knees,,,
"your Majesty, please forgive me, it must be the result of the way I fainted earlier, please! Your Majesty" she said bitterly as the King headed to his chamber, and just then, Gilas appeared out of nowhere, his eyes fixed on the king. "My king, is everything okay?" he asked, but the king remained silent.
Kaira wailed bitterly as she dragged herself up, remembering the miserable night.
Kaira's thoughts drifted back to the night she received the letter from her father as tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as she remembered her desperate pleas to flee with her father.
"Father, please, let's just run away! I'm begging you!" she had cried.
"Father, please,, let's just run away, I'm begging you!!!!" as she cried bitterly.
"Kaira,calm down, where can we possibly run to, they would eventually find us!" Her mother, madam Camina proclaimed.
"Mother,,what are you saying, father must live, no matter what, I will make sure of it"she wept uncontrollably.
"Father, let's pack our loads right now, let's leave as soon as possible!!" As she continue begging her father.
"It's late right now, let's just leave at dawn in the morning"madam Camina suggested .
"Listen to your mother, kaira my daughter,,, you should,,," she cut her father off,,, just promise me one thing, please father"she panted..….
"My lady!!!! Her personal maid, Aurora called,jolted her from her painful memories.
"Ohh, sorry,,, she cleaned her eyes
"My lady, I have been calling you for a while, are you okay, my lady?"
She faked a smile, I'm fine, where are the rest? She asked
"They're waiting for you, my lady" she bowed
"Let's go"
.LADY LARISA CHAMBER.
Lady Larisa's personal maid, Senki emerged into the chamber in a rush to inform lady Larisa about the queen's pregnancy.
"Are you sure about this information,Senki?" Larisa asked unbelievable,,, "yes,my lady...I heard the queen will be spending the night with the king tonight". She answered.
Lady Larisa's face darkened, her eyes flashing with anger. "I need to confirm this," she muttered, storming out of her chamber.
QUEEN MAYANA'S CHAMBER
"Your highness,lady Larisa is here" the queen's announcer shouted loudly;
"Enter!" The queen answered from the inside,,,,,
Immediately she emerged inside the queen's chamber,she met kaira sitting and dinning with the queen while they were laughing with each other,,,,,
"Lady Larisa, I hope there's no problem?" The queen glanced at Lady Larisa to acknowledge her.
"My queen, there's no problem at all, I'm here to give you this tonic immediately I heard the good news of your highness carrying the royal blood, congratulations my queen" she bowed and put the tonic on the queen's table,,
"Wow,words do travel so fast,thank you so much,and also,you should join us as well",
"i can see you're enjoying your time with Lady kaira , I wish to join also but I need to be on my way because I will be spending the night with the king tonight"she smiled hardily.
Queen Mayana immediately looked up, deep into larisa's eyes, looking for an answer because she's the one that should spend the night with the king instead, obviously Larisa is seeking for trouble,kaira could understand the atmosphere as she was busying watching both Larisa and Mayana,,, kaira immediately stood up to cool the atmosphere, If not, there might be a commotion in the palace tonight.
"My queen, my lady,,, I would like to be on my way because I will be spending the night with the king,tonight!" kaira dropped a bombshell earning a killer glared from both of them
Lady Larisa stepped forward "and who do you think you are to spend the night with the king? "A common concubine, tell me ... You are just....
"Larisa!!" The queen cut her off, "what do you think you're doing in my presence!?, have you forgotten your respect?!", the queen asked daringly.
Larisa eyes deemed, she gulped hard,,"I'm sorry your highness" Larisa said defiantly.
"And you lady kaira, why are you the one spending the night with the king" she asked, confusingly,,
"My queen, who am I to think I can spend the night with the king anytime I want?,the king himself ordered to spend the night with me." She replied boldly.
"Why would the king wants to spend the night with a common concubine on the night that they're supposed to celebrate their pregnancy, because why not! ,this is a good news to the whole kingdom at large, it should be a night of celebration to both of them, what's going on!! This is the Majesty's first child for goodness sake, a child that will ascend the throne if I'm able to give birth to a male child, which I'm sure I'm going to give birth to!,did I offend his Majesty?, is he angry with me?,,,, well, It would still be fair if Kaira should spend the night with the king instead of the cunning Larisa,,, the queen thought inwardly.
"Lady Kaira should spend the night with the king instead, so she can get to know the king better" queen ordered feeling hurtfully.
"Thanks for your grace,my queen"Kaira bowed.
"Excuse me my queen" Lady Larisa glared hard as she angrily emerged from the chamber.
.THE KING CHAMBER ,IN THE NIGHT.
Infront of the king chamber, Kaira stood admiring the night,it made her remembered her father…..
The air was temperate, the breeze was cool, the stars was shining so glittering, the moon was so bright,,,
Minister of finance,Lord zenya stood under the bright moon staring at the stars shining so bright.
"Arghhh, you scared me Kaira" Lord Zenya panicked, as she jumped from nowhere to scare her father.
"Father, why are you still up, why are you not sleeping by this time?" She asked teasingly.
"My daughter, I should be asking you, why are you outside by this time of the night?"
"Hmmm, I just feel like watching the bright stars, I didn't know you'll be here" she said jokingly.
"You didn't know I'll be here when you know you father can not do without watching the stars before he go to bed in a day? You must be joking, just say you're here because you definitely know I'll be here!" Lord Zenya smiled
"Yes, you caught me, I'm here to watch the stars with my father, is that a crime?" She asked teasingly.
"Look at that big star that outshine the rest stars" ' Lord Zenya pointed to the star that shined most, "that is you shinning brightly among your mates,wherever you go, you will always be different from the rest! Lord Zenya smiled at his daughter. ,,,,,
Lord Zenya suddenly staggered !! Arhh,,, haven't I told you to stop jumping on my back, you're no longer a kid, you're now heavy!!!! Kaira laughed so hard,,,,,,,, as her father tried to balanced himself, so he can withstand the weight of his daughter,,,,, my father!!! My daughter!!!! My Josephine!!!!! Lord Zenya ,,,,, they both laughed out loud as they were busy singing each other's name...
"My lady" Gilas called which brought Kaira back from her memories.
Hope there's no problem, my lady? Because he saw the way she was smiling and giggling on her own,
"Errmm, there's no problem, I'm here to see the king.
Gilas stared at her,admiring her...
"how can one person be this beautiful, her long black hair looking so ravishing, her thick eyebrow, her flawless light skin and her pouted lips looking tempted to kiss!!, First time looking at her this deep,,, why didn't I noticed her since all this while, Is it because the king is not with her?!... Gilas thought inwardly...
"Hey!,why are you not saying anything?"
Kaira jolted him back to the reality. "I'm sorry my Lady, the king is not in his chamber right now", you should wait for him till he gets back, my lady" he bowed
"Oh, okay then",,, she replied,as she proceeded into the king's chamber, immediately she emerged inside, everywhere looked so dark, that she found it so hard to locate where to sit,she sat down patiently waiting for the King,and after what seemed like forever, she heard a movement coming inside the chamber , she sprang up immediately, and suddenly, the light came on, the king squinted his eyes, looking at everywhere then diverted his gaze back on her,,, and with his deep voice, he asked,,,, "And what are you doing here?"...…...
