Chapter 34 - Luca's POV

After she fell right into that river that day, I knew that I had lost her for good.

That feeling was there and it kept being there until I saw her at the memorial for my father.

I could not believe my eyes the moment I set them on her. She looked different, by the way, so there was this sliver of doubt in my mind. Which was okay. Being doubtful wasn't that bad at all. 

I didn't want to believe that it was her. I wanted to hope that it was someone else. Yeah, because I didn't want to be staring at her ghost.

But it was truly her. My people had confirmed it. She had survived the fall, only because she swam to safety.

The moon goddess was with her, no doubt about that.

Some of the women who used to make my life much better saw that I had become morose and no matter what they tried, or however they tried to take my pain away, it just didn't work. I didn't even care that they were still around anymore.

I just wanted to be by myself.
