Chapter 2 - CHAPTER TWO: A RIVALRY WAS BORN

The next day, Lunneta had a lot of activities to complete as part of her duties as an heir, which she enjoyed very much. First, she had to greet her parents at the east wing before starting her day.

She walked steadily with a mischievous smile on her face, rushing into her parents' palace.

"Mother, Father, good morning," she said with an easy smile.

"Lunneta, darling," her father's deep voice called out.

Her dad was very handsome and looked like a human in his late twenties, but he was much older, even a thousand years older. Lunneta always loved it when he called her name. Lunneta moved to his side, acting all cute towards him.

"This child must have come with a request," Alexander said with a huge smile as he reclined on his chair.

His wife smiled, looking at their daughter's adorable expression.

"Tell us, what do you want?" Heidi asked her daughter, pushing her work aside.

"Nothing, Mother. I come here every morning as usual."

"Yes, you do, and you leave us with a request every time," her father said in a deadpan voice.

"Father, you are mocking me," Lunneta said with a fake angry voice, turning her head to the other side.

She did not see when her father stood up until she was thrown five feet in the air. Lunneta let out a loud scream, laughing loudly, feeling secure because she knew her dad would catch her.

Wrapping her arms around his neck, she kissed his cheek, smiling happily. "I love you, Father. You too, Mother."

"We love you too, my dear," Alexander said, kissing her hair. He placed her on his lap, sitting on his chair but not before giving his wife a smothering kiss.

Lunneta stepped down from her father's body, kissed her mom, and ran out of the room while giggling. She moved to her first duty of the day, flying towards the academy which sat at the top of the mountain, with her maids trailing behind her. The Light Crescent clan had just one academy which all the children in the clan attended, so everybody knew everybody.

She stepped into the class, sitting at her usual spot when her friend Lino glided into the seat next to her. Lino was a picture of serenity with her red hair cascading around her.

"Good morning, Your Highness," Lino greeted, smiling at her. She hummed as an answer, already used to her antics.

"Are you not tired of pretending?" Lunneta asked, her face a perfect mask.

Lino rolled her eyes at her exaggeration but still looked around to make sure other kids were out of earshot.

Hugging Lunneta tightly, a huge smile surfaced. "I missed you so much. Can I come to your palace for a sleepover?" She asked while pouting her bottom lip, her eyes getting all cute.

"Okay, but I have somewhere to be later."

"Can I come with you?"

"No, you can't."

"Pretty please."

"I heard you are getting engaged?" Lunneta asked, throwing Lino off track. The clan had this idea of engaging a child to her soulmate, allowing them to grow up together and understand each other better. Thank God my parents don't have such an idea for now.

"Yes, to Theo, son of the High Ambassador to the Eastern region," she said with a little smile.

"I still can't believe you found your soul mate so early."

"Me too," she replied quietly.

Soul mates were two persons who share an identical soul and heartbeats after the other. In our clan, soul mates were a big thing. Once both souls identify each other, a mark appears on each other's body. One mark completes the other. The ache in your heart increases the more your person is not in sync.

The master entered the class, and his teachings began. After the class, the ladies moved to the feminine virtue class, where we learned all about how a lady should behave and act, the technique of managing a home. The class was always entertaining. Lunneta slipped away from the class without Lino noticing; she needed fresh air. Lunneta flew far away from the class to her safe space. Although she did not understand what brought her there, she sat on the rock, taking in the serene environment, a small smile lacing her lips. She heard a cough behind me; she shouldn't have been surprised, but she was.

Kai looked at the beautiful scene in front of him and couldn't help gasping a little bit in awe.

"I told you the last time that this was my territory, and I hate someone invading my space," Lunneta spoke with anger in her voice, but to him, she just looked like a child throwing a tantrum. He didn't respond and continued his meditation, closing his eyes. Lunneta moved closer to him.

"I'm talking to you." This was the first time someone was blatantly ignoring her, and it made her embarrassed.

Kai raised an eyebrow, turning his face to meet hers.

"I heard you the first time," he said in a soothing voice.

"Then if you did, move," Lunneta said, almost stomping her feet but held herself back.

"Well, make me." Kai stood up from the stone he was sitting on, his eyes growing a little bit dark.

These were two people who answered to nobody except their father, so the air was charged and sparked. It felt like a fight was about to happen.

"Why don't you take your spoiled self back to your palace, princess?" Kai mocked her.

Lunneta's chest heaved furiously in anger.

"I could say the same for you, you devil spawn." She cried in anger, tears welling up in her eyes as she ran towards the edge, flying straight home.

Kai's eyes lingered to where she left, his cold face twitching a bit, thinking that it went well before continuing his meditation, not knowing a rivalry had just been born.
