Chapter 16 - The Dream Walker

The Dream walker, Izikel, watched as the original owner of this body argued with the Druid girl. They were arguing about who was the better sword fighter.

"I have won you almost every time we've fought, so I'm obviously better," Lyzah teased, wearing a proud expression.

Izikel with a red face defended, "but that's only because it was with wooden swords, if we used real ones I'm definitely going to win,"

From the Dream walker's perspective the two children were simply arguing as friends. He remembered having arguments like this with his friends when he was younger, maybe not about sword fighting, but it was still similar.

'Guess children are the same everywhere,'

It looked like Izikel was shy about being teased by a girl, but it was a friendly argument.

The Dream walker face palmed himself as he heard Izikel's claims,

'so you suggested to fight with real swords then you died, maybe it really was an accident after all,'

The two children went back and forth until a group of people in armor walked in on their argument. It was an open field with trees around, so it looked like their paths simply crossed.

Due to the weapons and armor they wore Izikel suspected that they were Saints, and he turned out to be right. The kids greeted the one that seemed to be their leader as Saint Raynoel.

"Evening young lord Izikel," Saint Raynoel replied, wearing a friendly smile. He had thick black bushy hair and two blades hanging on his back.

"I heard you kids arguing earlier, you know I used to be just like you two when I was younger,"

The Dream walker's brows furrowed as the man spoke, 'I didn't know there was someone else,'

"Seriously!" young Izikel remarked with wide eyes filled with admiration, " When I grow up, I want to be a Divine saint of the Lunar moon just like you,"

Lyzah chuckled mockingly, "a weakling like you can never be a saint,"

Izikel shot back, "I'm not a weakling… in fact let us test it out, and see who is stronger for real,"

He turned to the saint, "please can we use your swords for a spar?"

Saint Raynoel held the handle of one of the two blades crossed at his back, "of course not young lord, these are divine weapons, it is not just for anyone,"

He nodded at two of the other saints and they rushed to hand Izikel and Lyzah their swords.

One of them showed hesitation as he returned, "First captain, isn't it dangerous for them to play with swords?"

Saint Raynoel almost appeared pissed at the question, "How can it be dangerous when I'm here supervising. Activities like this are good for growing children, it prepares them for the future,"

Izikel, the Dream walker was suspicious of this man, why would he let two children play with real swords.

He watched attentively as the two swords clashed, in the hands of two very skilled children. From their movements it was clear that this wasn't the first time they had handled such weapons. They had probably trained using swords against more experienced fighters.

Everything was going smoothly until Lyzah's sword went straight through Izikel's chest.

The Dream walker grabed his own chest reflexively, for a moment he could have sworn he felt the sword pierce his own heart, but it was only for a moment.

The saint tried rushing in to stop the match but he was only quick enough to catch Izikel's falling body. There was a Druid healer amongst the group of Saints, but even after doing everything he could, Izikel didn't wake up.

Saint Raynoel screamed with anger, his veins shooting out his neck.

"What have you done?!"

Lyzah was shocked almost like she wasn't present when it happened.

"I-I-I… didn't mean-" she sobbed, the horror of the situation perfectly reflecting on her face.

Izikel continued watching from above,

"So this was how it all played out," he nodded,

"it looks like it was a mistake caused by a careless adult, and I'm sure they shifted the blame to that poor girl… but at least their testimony is what kept Lyzah alive and plus the fact that she was a Druid so she definitely couldn't have done it on purpose. If it was any other person that stabbed the son of a priest they would have definitely been arrested and probably executed,"

He knew this much, because he had read just how the title of Priest was revered in this lands. Even if Isiel wasn't a Divine believer of the Lunar moon he was still a Priest of the Lunar moon. Priests and their bloodline were seen as the heralds of the Archbishop. Killing one wasn't just killing another noble, it was directly attacking the Lunar Kingdom and their god. It was directly attacking their faith.

So the mere fact that they spared her life after the accident was already a very forgiving action.

Izikel was still in his thoughts when he noticed something discomforting. Lyzah was staring in his direction, it was almost like she was looking right at him. Wearing no emotion, just cold blank stare.

Everything else continued moving forward, with Raymond shouting at the male Druid healer as if it was his fault and the Saints gathering around Izikel.

Izikel tried ignoring Lyzah, thinking maybe she would look away, but nothing happened. Instead her brows furrowed making her glare even darker, in Izikel's eyes at least.

"C-can she see me?" He whispered, his body too tense to make a single move.

The Dream guide replied, "Maybe,"

"What do you mean maybe?!" He shouted but in a hushed tone.

The Dream guide continued, "it isn't impossible, we are in her dream after all,"

Being watched by someone, when you are trying to see their memories was oddly disturbing. In a way, it felt like she was evading his privacy.

"Maybe it's time to go,"

And with that he returned to his Dream.
