'Gotta get close!'
He thought with urgency before he immediately created another ice wall to hide himself and obscure Momo's vision.
Seeing this, Momo quickly replicated her previous attack and launched multiple metal balls toward the ice structure, each collision creating an explosion and scattering the ice and destroying the wall completely.
'Can't lose sight of him'
She reminded herself. She would be at a disadvantage if she couldn't properly see him since he needed to get close to win the match.
Momo had the ball out of an alkali metal. This type of metal reacts violently when it contacts water and thus gives her a projectile weapon against Todoroki's defence.
The dust settled and revealed Todoroki to have disappeared. The girl frowned just slightly, but of course, Momo wasn't surprised; this was something expected.
Once again, utilizing her ability, she quickly made infrared goggles, put them on, and began looking for her opponent.
It took little time before she quickly spotted his heat signature. He was hiding behind one of the buildings. Unfortunately, just as she spotted him, his signature completely disappeared; this was followed by a significant drop in temperature around the area.
The young Todoroki had been quick to realize that she tracked his position with infrared goggles. As such, he constructed a huge wall of ice that helped mask his internal temperature.
The wall he created completely surrounded Momo and sectioned off a part of the area, trapping the girl within that area.
"Her ability to create things is certainly a problem for me"
He said with a bit of frustration as he walked atop the wall, watching her as she took off her goggles and created a cold-resistant jacket for herself, boots too.
"I wanted to end this as quickly as possible, but I guess she isn't weak"
He expressed that he wondered if Taro and Bakugou just happened to get paired with opponents they could easily deal with or if it was just a bad match-up on his part.
This was fine; he came here to become a hero who would be even better than his father, so overcoming strong opponents was a good thing.
Momo exhaled a visible breath of air as she looked up to her opponent, it was clear to both of them that this match wasn't going to end, not until one of them got close to the other.
Momo was confident in her hand-to-hand combat skills; with Taro as her brother's sibling, fights were a bit dangerous for her, so she had to find ways around his strength via grappling techniques, although as they grew, those became useless as well.
So, her chances of defeating Todoroki were good. However, Todoroki's win condition was a single touch, making it difficult for her to win even in close-quarters combat. However, that is where her electrocution gloves come in; by increasing the voltage, she too can get a single touch win condition.
Shoto, on the other hand, felt the same; he knew he could win with a single touch; however, her quirk made it difficult to get close as she could create something unexpected, but there was also the fact that freezing her could be dangerous to her well-being.
"I just have to force her to give up"
He expressed before creating a glacier of ice that sloped down, and he then began to slide towards her.
He hadn't thought of a plan to win yet, but standing around did nothing to help him. This would have been so much easier if he could use his flames; of course, he'd never use them; he'd never use the quirk of that piece of shit father.
"A single touch is all it should take"
Both exclaimed to themselves.
Momo quickly activated her gloves and took a fighting stance as Todoroki barrelled towards her, sliding down the ice like a seasoned ice skater.
"ALRIGHT YOU TWO THAT'S ENOUGH!"
Aizawa spoke through the speakers, ending the match and surprising not just the two students but the spectators as well.
"What? Why'd you stop them, Mr Aizawa? Was it about to get good?"
Taro expressed. He wanted to see how Momo was going to handle an opponent like Todoroki and was hoping that she would win.
His fellow classmates echoed his sentiment.
"This is just an exercise for Mr. Aizawa to get a good sense of our quirks, it doesn't need to end in a clear winner or loser"
Asui answered in Aizawa's place and earned a nod from her teacher.
"She's right, I never said someone had to win I just wanted to see what each of you can do so that I can guide you towards the right type of hero you're suited to be"
He explained, although he was pleased by how the matches have gone so far, the students show some promise, and he already has some of them figured out.
"Yeah I guess that makes sense. It was Taro and Bakugou who made this into a competition"
Ochako expressed, and Taro simply shrugged; he didn't think it was bad being a little competitive.
"I mean, come on! it's more fun when it's a competition, right Bakugou?"
"ugh, this loser is right; everything is a contest; how can I be the best if it's not a contest!"
The young blonde grimaced at the fact he was agreeing with Taro.
"Yeah well, I'm not into that, so leave me out of it"
"Ditto, Uraraka"
Toru agreed with Uraraka, much like the brown-haired girl, She, too, didn't feel the need to compete, especially considering her quirk isn't really made for combat.
"Yeah I agree with the girls on this one"
Denki expressed and showed solidarity with the girls, much to the disappointment of both Bakugou and Taro.
"Yall really ain't like that"
Taro articulated in disappointment, but then again, this was just the first day; there was no need for them to go hard.
"We don't have to be like that. You guys are just battle freaks"
Mina chimed in the conversation, finally being free from having to nurse Eijiro, who was just now waking up.
"Huh, what happened? Who's a battle freak?"
The redhead spoke as he rubbed his head, feeling a bit of a headache.
"Rise and shine, Eijiro. Is it manly to sleep for so long?"
"Sleeping has nothing to do with being manly, and also watch out next time I'm the one knocking you out"
Kirishima voiced as he clenched his fist in determination. He felt a bit embarrassed that all it took was a single hit from Taro to knock him out cold.
"I always welcome a challenge"
Taro encouraged the young man. He was the type to never turn down a challenge. His Viltrumite blood loved the thrill of battle.
"At least someone here isn't bitch!"
Bakugou expressed angrily and Taro couldn't have agreed more with the angry gremlin.
'You're bitch!'
They all deadpanned inwardly simultaneously
It was here that Todoroki and Momo walked into the room, drawing the attention of everyone in the room.
"Oh my God that was amazing Yamomo, Your quirk is super useful"
Toru Hagakure was the first to speak, addressing the usefulness of Momo's quirk.
"Yeah she's right, Todoroki's quirk was Super strong but with your quirk you could deal with it, I didn't know you could make literally anything with it, I'm so jealous"
Mina chimed as she got up close to Momo's face, This was followed up by the rest of the girls going on and on about the practicality and usefulness of quirk.
"Damn dude, You're like super strong"
Denki expressed in amazement and received a monotone "thanks" from the stoic Todoroki.
"Oh please, he didn't even manage to win"
Bakugou disagreed with Denki, obviously the young blonde would never allow anyone to be perceived as stronger than himself.
"I mean yeah, he only used half his quirk, if he could use the other, he'd be unstoppable"
Denki countered; his statement was correct; Todoroki was limiting himself to only using his ice powers instead of his fire powers.
However, Todoroki disagreed with the latter part of Denki's statement. He didn't know if he would have won even in the event he used his fire quirk, this was mostly because he could see Momo creating something as a counter.
"Shut up! That's just an excuse"
"I mean he's not wrong, Todoroki's ice ability has insane potential, and the fact he can create ice as huge as buildings shows that"
Taro reasonably explained, although now he wished he was the one who had faced Todoroki.
"My sister did well being able to fight you to a draw"
He stated plainly and took a glance at Momo. Her quirk was really useful and insanely practical, yet she could only fight to a draw.
'That's fine, I guess'
He thought to himself, it was just a quirk exercise, so he supposed she would get stronger from here on out.
"Alright kids, who's next up?"
Once he concluded they were done chatting amongst themselves, Aizawa reminded them that the exercise was still ongoing.
...
A/N: In terms of love interest so far I'm considering Toru Hagakure and Nejire Hado, I'm also considering Mei Hatsume
This is not a harem so don't suggest All three.
Next chapter on Monday or Tuesday.
