Chapter 2 - Story 1 (Part 2)

Will You Really Like the First Person You Fall For, For a Long Time?

During my second year in university, I met the boy I had liked back in my second year of high school. From that moment on, it felt like the connection we once had was restored.

We would occasionally meet at the library when we had free time. Just like before, we never sat beside each other — instead, we always sat face-to-face. Whenever I looked up and saw him concentrating so seriously, it felt as though I had returned to those high school days when we studied together at the library. Sometimes I found myself staring at him for too long, lost in thought, until he'd suddenly look up and meet my gaze. Embarrassed, I would quickly lower my head — and each time, I'd hear him chuckle softly.

Over time, we spent more moments together — sometimes studying, other times sharing meals. Yet deep down, I never believed that he liked me. Although I had feelings for him, I felt that he only saw me as a good friend and senior. I didn't dare confess — I was afraid of being rejected and even more afraid of losing him as a friend.

One day, a senior from my department started pursuing me. I had already told him that I liked someone else, but he insisted, "Since you're still single, just give me a chance." Feeling helpless, I replied, "Senior, let me say this clearly once again — I've liked someone for a long time. I won't stop you from trying, but I have the right to refuse you."

Coincidentally, Nan Jun happened to overhear this because he had come to ask me out for dinner.

"Senior, you like someone?" he asked.

I was a little embarrassed at first, but then I realized — he didn't know who it was anyway. So, I nodded, "Yeah, I like someone."

Hearing my answer, he seemed a little unhappy. But then he asked, "Does he like you back?"

I thought for a moment. "I'm not too sure... I feel like he only sees me as a friend."

He muttered something under his breath, but I couldn't hear what it was.

Later, after our final exams, we went out with some friends to celebrate. University students often enjoy trying new things, so we decided to visit a live music bar to relax and listen to some songs.

Earlier, when I told Nan Jun about our post-exam plans, he eagerly said he wanted to come too. After asking my friends, they were fine with it — so this 'tag-along' ended up joining our group.

Throughout the evening, he stuck to me like glue. I jokingly said, "Have you always been this clingy? I don't want to become your mom."

He grinned shamelessly, "Then from now on, you're my mom. Mom~"

I rolled my eyes. "Get lost! I'm not old enough to have a son like you."

Since the exams were over, we decided to order some drinks to celebrate. I had never tried alcohol before, so I didn't dare drink much. But curiosity got the better of me, and my friend ordered a fruity cocktail for me.

I took a sip — it tasted pretty good. One sip turned into several, and soon I couldn't stop.

Suddenly, a hand reached out and grabbed my glass.

"Don't drink so much," Nan Jun warned.

I frowned. At that point, I didn't even realize I was already tipsy. I reached for my drink.

"I want more... it's so good... I haven't had enough..."

As I staggered to grab it, I lost my balance and stumbled right into his arms.

When I looked up, I saw his face. Without thinking, I reached out and ruffled his hair.

"You're so cute…" I giggled.

He grabbed my hand. "Do you really think I'm cute?"

Looking into his clear, bright eyes, I nodded with certainty.

"Mm-hmm... you're adorable... like a little puppy…"

"Then... do you like this little puppy?"

I reached out, touched his face, hiccupped, and laughed again.

"I like you the most... since a long time ago... you're so cute... I love cute things the most..."

He placed his hand over mine and nuzzled against it.

"Then... who am I?"

I squinted at him.

"You're... you're... Nan Jun…"

That's the last thing I remembered. The next thing I knew, I was being carried on his back as we walked toward my dorm.

"Am I... heavy?" I mumbled.

"You're light... don't worry," he replied.

Maybe I was just too tipsy and my mind wasn't thinking straight, but at that moment, I finally let my feelings spill out.

"I... like... you... I've liked you for a long time…"

As I spoke, tears started falling. It felt like I had finally released a secret I'd been holding in for so long.

Hearing me cry, he gently set me down, crouched in front of me, and said, "Lin Xi, look at me."

Through my blurry, teary eyes, I stared at him. He wiped my tears away and said softly, "Don't cry... I like you too."

"Really...? But... I thought we were... just friends…"

"If we were just friends," he said with a smile, "I wouldn't have chosen a university so far from home just for you... and I wouldn't be here carrying you back to your dorm."

I blinked. "So... you really... like me?"

His response was a gentle kiss — soft and warm.

Afterward, I looked at him and whispered, "Can you do that again? I'm afraid I might be dreaming…"

The next morning, I woke up and remembered everything from the night before — the confession, the tears, and the kiss. It still felt surreal, yet the warmth of his lips lingered.

I grabbed my phone and saw a message he had sent late at night:

**"Today is Day One."**

Feeling playful, I replied:

**"Day one of what? Did I say something weird when I was drunk?"**

To my surprise, his reply came instantly:

**"Come downstairs."**

I quickly washed up, threw on a jacket, and rushed down.

The moment he saw me, he ran over and hugged me tightly.

"Ah! Put me down!" I gasped, pushing his shoulder. His face was too close to mine, and I could feel my face heating up.

Then, to my shock, he buried his face in my chest.

"Xi Xi... you really don't remember yesterday?" His voice trembled slightly, and I felt something damp against me.

"Wait… is he crying?" I panicked — but deep inside, I was happy. It showed how much he cared.

"Nan Jun, look at me," I said softly.

He lifted his tear-filled eyes, and I kissed his cheek.

"I like you the most, my boyfriend."

I saw his eyes light up again, but then he shamelessly said, "Xixi... I want more…"

"No way!" I blushed. "People are watching! Now put me down!"

"I'll put you down if you kiss me again," he teased.

I quickly pecked his face. "Happy now?"

Finally, he set me down and presented a bouquet of flowers.

"Lin Xi, will you be my girlfriend?"

Looking at the flowers — and at him — I realized I didn't need anything else. I nodded.

"Yes! I'm willing."

So... will you really like the first person you fall for, for a long time?

The answer is yes.
