Our character walked out of school and headed towards the school bus. Everyone was excited and having fun for the trip planned for tomorrow.
(How happy they all are... Am I thinking wrong, or have I really lost my mind? Someone died just yesterday. It's really strange how they're acting like nothing happened.)
Our character was returning home on the school bus. The traffic was heavy, delaying their arrival.
(I don't know why they made this trip mandatory. Normally, I could pretend to be sick to skip it, but my mom wouldn't accept that. She'll definitely approve of the trip for my socialization.)
After the school bus dropped our character off in front of their house, they went inside.
(Shall we fast forward to the evening?)
[A Few Hours Later – Evening]
Our character was wasting time at the computer when their mother walked in.
Sarah: You're going on the trip! No objections accepted.
(I told you so.)
****: Okay, Mom.
Sarah: You have no idea where you're going, do you?
****: Calm down, Mom. It's just a trip. They'll take us to a museum or something, maybe even an aquarium.
Sarah looked at our character with a small smile.
Sarah: You know it's a camping trip, right?
As our character looked at their mother in surprise, Sarah continued:
Sarah: Pack your bag and go to bed early.
After Sarah left the room, our character stared blankly at the walls.
****: Damn this job.
[One Day Later]
Our character woke up to a new day. They went to wash their hands and face, looking in the mirror while muttering to themselves:
**: What a messed-up life…
They had already packed their bag the night before. When they went downstairs for breakfast, their father was reading the newspaper and sipping his coffee. Upon seeing our character, he called out:
John: Good morning, son. You're all ready early.
**: I thought I'd get ready early, Dad.
While having breakfast, the school bus had already arrived. Just as our character was about to leave the house with their suitcase, their mother called out:
Sarah: See you later, last.
Sarah kissed him on the cheek as she sent him off.
****: See you, Mom.
