EMILY POV
The wedding party had started; everyone was already dancing and jubilating. Wine was flowing, and I could see my father laughing happily and dancing with different ladies, but Eron was just sitting gently beside me, not showing any expression on his face.
I wondered if he laughed at all. The aura coming from him was just different, and I couldn't place it.
"Everyone, please go back to your seats. It is time for the two to have their first dance," my father shouted, and everyone could see that he was drunk.
Eron stood up and stretched his arm toward me. This was the moment I had been waiting for. My father only did that for me; I had been learning how to dance since I was three years old.
We moved toward the center of the ballroom, and the light focused on us. As we danced, I could only feel a mix of joy, happiness, and sadness. I was not marrying a demon, but people called him that—maybe because he was wicked and didn't care about people. Or maybe it was just some bloody rumor about him.
"You dance pretty well, my princess," he said. My face flushed at the way he called me, and I couldn't hide it.
"I am not a good dancer myself, but I can see you are," he added.
I was only thinking about the coldness of his touch and pale skin. How could someone be perfect like this, I wondered.
"You are not that bad, Prince Eron," I replied. He put on a smirk while still keeping his cold face.
"I am just trying; I'm not as good as you, princess."
The music stopped, and we walked back to my chair, but Eron stopped midway and went to meet with my father. As they were talking, my mother came closer to me.
"You must be happy that he is not the demon people talk about. He is the most handsome man I have ever seen—cool and calm," she said, putting on a smile.
"Mother, I am scared. I am going away from here for the first time. How will I cope?" I said, worried.
"When I married your father, I never knew him until our wedding night, but we got along well. I am sure you will too. And don't forget all my teachings. You must be gentle and respect your husband because he is the only one who can protect you and guide you. This world is wicked, and I am a little scared about where you are going."
With the way my mother was talking, I didn't know when tears started coming down my eyes.
"Don't cry, my lovely angel," she said, pulling out her white napkin to wipe my tears. I could understand her worries because it was normal; I might not see her again.
"Princess, it is time to go. Your chariot is ready," Sarah said, and I could see her weary eyes. I was going to miss her.
"Mother, I didn't know; maybe Prince Eron can allow me to take Sarah with me. She is my only friend that I have?" I asked my mother.
"Daughter, I see that you are now ready to go to your new house," my father said as he came toward us with Eron.
He looked at me with his captivating hazel eyes, without showing any emotions—just his normal plain face.
He turned toward Sarah. "You can come with us, Sarah; I think your madam will surely love it." Immediately he said that, I was shocked, and I could see the shock on Sarah's face and my mother too, because we were surprised at how he knew that.
Father broke the sudden silence. "Sarah, I think you need to go and pack your things, or do you want to keep your madam waiting? You guys have a long journey ahead."
Sarah left us immediately, and I was also ready to go. We walked down the hallway to the palace garden, where the chariot was parked. As we were walking, I looked back to see where I grew up. I didn't know if I would ever see the place again. My mom was walking beside me, holding my hands, and I could still see the tears in her eyes.
"Mom, don't cry again, please. I am not dead, and the way you are acting, I might start crying too," I reminded her, and she wiped her tears away. My dad and the prince were still talking, and I could see all our female maids looking and peeking at Eron. They were all amazed to see how handsome and cute he looked.
"Sister, I am going to miss you. I hope father can allow me to come and visit you anytime soon because I don't know how I am going to cope without seeing you every day," Darion said, giving me a final hug.
"I am going to miss you too, twin brother. I hope you can come sometime," I replied.
"Daughter, I hope you can be a good child and listen to what your mother has taught you about how to cope with your husband," father said, hugging me. This was the first time my father hugged me, and I could smell the wine from the party on him.
"I hope you forgive me for all I have done and be a good child and make me proud," he added.
"I will do my best, Dad," I replied, looking forward to starting a new life ahead of me.
My mother moved closer; she didn't say anything. She hugged me and then moved closer to Eron, my husband, to tell him about something, but I couldn't hear what they were talking about.
"Miss Emily, I am done packing my things; we can go now," Sarah said, looking happier than ever.
I walked to the chariot, already packed and ready to move out. As I moved toward the door, the guard opened it for me. Another guard bent down for me to step on his back to hop in, but I couldn't do it because I felt that he was also a human being.
I didn't know what to do about it because all my life, I had never experienced something like this before: another person stepping on another person. What a wicked world.
"Ma, please, you must step on me. You can use me as a step to climb on the chariot, ma," the young man said, looking afraid, as if he had committed a serious crime if I did not climb on him.
"Don't worry; I don't need that. I can climb on it by myself," I ignored his worry and told him he should be fine.
I was surprised to see Eron climb onto him confidently and sit down beside me. I still found this awkward. How could I see someone like this? Maybe this was one of his behaviors that made people call him a demon.
He sat down confidently and majestically. I could still feel the dark aura coming from him. He had an angelic face, but I could sense the dark aura surrounding him.
"We are ready to go," he said, and I could see that our driver swung his rope, and the chariot began to move. I looked back at the palace where I grew up. I couldn't believe that someday I would leave this place, leave my family behind, and go to a s
trange place that I could not imagine.
Now a new chapter began in my life.
