My name is Roxy Migurdia.

I'm 40 years old, but I look like I'm 14...

Hmm... That doesn't sound great either way.

Anyway, I'm a demon.

So, even though I'm 40, I'm actually still in the adolescent stage of my life.

If you convert that to human years, it's about...

14 years old.

Alright.

When I was 14, I secretly became an adventurer without telling my family.

At the time, I thought this would be a step toward breaking free from the nightmare of not being able to use "telepathy" and stepping into a world of endless possibilities.

That's what I thought.

But since my appearance stopped changing at 14, and my hair color resembled the infamous Superd tribe, I faced a lot of hardship after becoming an adventurer.

Fortunately, I soon found an adventurer team willing to accept me, and by the time I was 20, I became a B-rank adventurer.

Pretty lucky, huh?

But good times are always fleeting.

During a magical disaster, my team leader died tragically, and as a result, the adventurer team disbanded.

The gruesome sight of his death is still vivid in my mind, but when I returned to the adventurer's guild to report it, their indifferent attitude made me realize something.

This is what being an adventurer is like.

I was too naive back then.

Later, I left the Demon Continent and set foot on the Milis Continent.

My blue hair, which glowed green under firelight, and my short stature caused me a lot of trouble.

Luckily, when I reached the port town, I didn't face much discrimination. The local adventurer's guild also helped me a lot, which restored my confidence as a young adventurer.

And after being promoted to A-rank, I was overjoyed.

Surely this would prove my strength, right?

Sure enough, the next day I was invited to a mission, and the adventurer team said I was indispensable.

A-rank adventurers are quite respected.

The mission was to disguise myself as a little girl and infiltrate the side of a lolicon merchant to investigate his illegal dealings.

I guess this is just the daily life of an adventurer.

I was furious and was about to refuse, but the adventurer team offered a price I couldn't refuse.

Four times the usual pay.

I agreed.

The disguise went smoothly, but I had to frequently change outfits and tie my hair in childish styles to pretend to be a little girl.

Every time, I was mocked by my peers...

What's the big deal? I'm saving people here...

An accident happened. After investigating for a while, I was discovered by a slave trader, knocked out, and thrown into a dungeon.

Thanks to that, I genuinely infiltrated the victims.

I broke the window and was rescued by my companions, saving the girls. Seeing their smiles...

I felt it was all worth it.

I accepted the guild's request to escort them back to Millishion.

Even though I knew I would face discrimination there.

...There were many unexpected encounters. Whenever I met people, I faced all kinds of discrimination.

It was a dark period.

I gradually stopped wanting to interact with people.

Later, by chance, I met a fellow countryman who invited me to work at a tavern. There, I saved up some money and set out on a journey to the Asura Kingdom.

—The homeland of my teacher.

When I was young, he traveled to our village and taught me magic, showing me the vastness of the world.

It was because of him that I decided to become an adventurer.

But he left without saying goodbye back then. I thought maybe he didn't want to see me again.

Then, I received a request—to go to my teacher's home in the Asura Kingdom and urge him to finish writing Journey Across the World.

After much hesitation, I accepted the request.

At my teacher's home, I talked with him about the past. I realized that his sudden departure back then was just a misunderstanding. He was in a hurry to leave and had asked a fellow tribesman to relay the message. But in his carelessness, he forgot—

Most of my tribe communicates through "telepathy," and his clumsy Demon language might have been incomprehensible to them...

Anyway, my teacher continued writing, and I continued my journey—to Sharia, where I studied at the magic university for four years.

After leaving the magic university, since the Asura Kingdom clears out monsters every winter, there weren't many specific requests to take on.

My finances were once again stretched thin.

That's when I saw a notice from a remote village's knight family looking for a home magic tutor, offering two silver coins a month.

I stayed there for two years.

The Greyrat family was very kind, making me feel the warmth of home.

I took on my first disciple—Rudeus, a child of extraordinary talent but with a bit of a precocious attitude. Over two years, I taught him everything I knew.

Life with the Greyrat family was happy, and I felt the warmth of home. You could say it was my second home.

But with meeting comes parting.

When I realized I had nothing left to teach, I decided to leave that "home."

I needed to embrace a broader future. I wanted to go on adventures, to continue improving my magic. Even if I was alone, it didn't matter.

After all, I had already experienced the warmth of home, hadn't I?

That's what I thought.

Until I met...

A boy in the forest on the way.

Though young, he was full of masculinity, tall, with a childish expression.

We promised... to go on adventures together in the future.

But...

How far away is the future?

Roxy blinked, and in the hazy mist, a pair of dark gray eyes appeared before her.

The eyes narrowed slightly, carrying a smile.

Roxy "looked" at the memories in her mind, her slightly cold thin lips pursing as she leaned against the edge of the bathtub, slowly, slowly...

With a plop, she sank into the water.

With the subtle motion of blinking, ripples spread before her eyes.

Bubbles rose from her mouth, drifting among her floating, seaweed-like blue hair, passing in front of her face.

Perhaps due to lack of oxygen, Roxy felt her vision blur.

Filled with fleeting glimpses of the past.

Fleeting...

Glimpses...

Roxy slowly closed her eyes.

With a plop, two hands reached into the bathtub and pulled her out. Roxy should have snapped awake, but she only looked dazedly at the palace maid who had "fished" her out.

"Miss Roxy! Miss Roxy! You can't close the windows and soak in hot water for an hour in winter! You'll get dizzy!"

Roxy felt her mind foggy, only now realizing why memories had been flooding her mind.

It was because of the lack of oxygen...

The maids scrambled to pull her out of the bathtub, quickly wrapping her in a bathrobe that was too large for her petite frame, leaving only her head exposed.

Her wet blue hair clung to her cheeks, contrasting with her flushed face. When Roxy's small feet touched the cold floor, she finally came to her senses.

Then, in her daze, she thought...

"Good thing Allen isn't here. If he saw this, he'd probably scold me for being careless again..."

Not once did it occur to her that this was a bath, so how could Allen have seen her?

Outside the window, the moon hung in the sky.

When she fully woke up...

It would probably be another night of writing letters, right?
