Malgrim stood firm against the onslaught of the berserk trolls, shielding his people from their relentless attacks. His body was drenched in blood and sweat, but he did not waver. The sky above had turned ominously dark, tainted by the corrupted energy of the relic, casting an eerie shadow over the battlefield.
Despite his unwavering stance, his warriors could not hide their concern.
Troll Warrior 1 (worriedly):
"Malgrim, this is too dangerous! Protecting the civilians is important, but your safety is just as crucial! Please, fall back!"
Troll Warrior 2 (pleading):
"Let us handle this! You must stay safe for the sake of our people. If you fall, morale will crumble!"
Malgrim paused momentarily, glancing at his warriors. Their eyes were filled with concern and fear, but he simply shook his head. His expression was resolute.
Malgrim (firmly):
"This is where I must stand. I am a warrior of my people, and I will not retreat until they are safe!"
Seeing his unwavering determination, the warriors could no longer argue. They clenched their weapons and chose to fight alongside him.
Troll Warrior 1 (bowing his head):
"Understood, Malgrim. Then we shall fight together!"
At the center of the battlefield, Gra'kar strode forward, his body pulsating with the dark energy of the corrupted relic. In one hand, he held his spear, and in the other, he clenched the relic tightly. His crimson eyes glowed with madness, and a thick, malevolent aura surrounded him, siphoning the very life force from the air around him.
Merslin and his companions, along with the moderate faction of the trolls, were already locked in combat against the rampaging berserkers. Shamanic totems and spirit wolves summoned by the trolls made the battlefield even more chaotic. Merslin could feel Gra'kar's overwhelming presence approaching.
Merslin (resolute):
"If we don't stop him, this battle will never end. Get ready—Gra'kar is coming!"
Malgrim, still fending off the berserk trolls, also sensed Gra'kar's approach. He knew that if this madness continued, history would repeat itself, dooming his people once again.
Malgrim (clenching his fist):
"I will not let another tragedy unfold. I will fight until my last breath to protect my people!"
Gra'kar, now fully consumed by the relic's power, lunged forward with inhuman speed. Malgrim braced himself as the corrupted warlord hurled his spear. With expert precision, Malgrim deflected the blow with his shield, but the sheer force sent him staggering backward.
Gra'kar (mocking, voice laced with madness):
"Malgrim! Do you truly believe you can stop me? With the power of the relic, I am unstoppable!"
Malgrim gritted his teeth as he held his ground. But even with all his experience, he was beginning to falter under Gra'kar's relentless assault. His warriors saw this and became desperate.
Troll Warrior 1 (panicked):
"Malgrim is struggling! We have to help him!"
Troll Warrior 2 (pleading):
"Gra'kar's power is beyond anything we've seen! We can't let Malgrim fight alone!"
Yet, Malgrim refused to yield.
Malgrim (steadfastly):
"This is my duty! I will not run!"
Despite his resolve, Gra'kar's power was overwhelming. Seeing this, Merslin and Lisa made a split-second decision. If Malgrim continued fighting alone, he would fall.
Merslin (determined):
"If we don't intervene now, Malgrim will die. We fight together!"
Lisa (nodding, gripping her sword):
"Yes! Together, we can bring him down!"
Merslin summoned shimmering silver chains and unleashed Chains of Binding, wrapping them tightly around Gra'kar's limbs, momentarily restraining his movements.
Merslin (shouting):
"Now, Lisa! Go for it!"
Lisa dashed forward with precision, aiming for Gra'kar's exposed side. But even bound, Gra'kar's raw power was terrifying. With a mighty roar, he shattered the chains and deflected Lisa's attack.
Gra'kar (laughing maniacally):
"Do you truly believe such feeble tricks can stop me?! This power is mine alone!"
Lisa and Merslin exchanged glances, realizing that even working together, they could not match his strength. They needed another plan.
A Desperate Struggle
Even as Merslin, Lisa, and Malgrim fought with everything they had, Gra'kar continued to overpower them. His corrupted relic-fed strength seemed limitless, and every moment that passed pushed them closer to defeat.
Merslin (panting):
"We need to change our strategy… We can't win like this!"
Suddenly, something unexpected happened. The dark energy of the relic started turning against Gra'kar. The immense power he had absorbed began to consume his own body, draining his vitality.
Gra'kar (gasping in pain):
"Wh-what is this?! My power… my strength is—"
Malgrim, recognizing this as the relic's curse, seized the opportunity.
Malgrim (solemnly):
"This is the fate of those who succumb to corrupted power. Gra'kar, your arrogance has doomed you."
For the first time, Gra'kar's movements slowed. Merslin and Lisa saw their chance.
Lisa (shouting):
"Now! Finish this!"
Pooling the last of their strength, they launched a final attack. Lisa's sword struck true, piercing Gra'kar's side, while Malgrim drove his spear into the corrupted warlord's chest.
Gra'kar staggered back, eyes wide in disbelief. The relic's power, which he had once thought invincible, was devouring him from within.
Gra'kar (screaming):
"No… NO! This can't be happening!"
But it was too late. The relic, now fully rejecting him, began to unravel his body. His once-mighty form collapsed, crumbling into black dust as the dark energy dissipated.
Merslin (exhaling deeply):
"It's over… Gra'kar is finished."
As the relic's corruption faded, the berserk trolls regained their sanity, collapsing to the ground in exhaustion. The ominous darkness that had covered the sky began to clear, and for the first time, the island felt peaceful again.
The Aftermath
The battlefield was silent. The trolls, both warriors and civilians, looked around in disbelief. The chaos that had nearly destroyed them was finally over.
Malgrim gazed down at Gra'kar's remains, knowing that the cycle of destruction had been broken.
Malgrim (softly):
"This is the end of an era… and the beginning of something new."
Merslin, Lisa, and their companions stood beside him. They had survived.
But deep within the ruins, something stirred.
The relic, though weakened, still held whispers of an ancient power.
And somewhere beyond the horizon… others had been watching.

A New Beginning
Thanks to Malgrim's generosity, the Black Pirate Crew's ship had been repaired, and Merslin's party was finally ready to set sail. Having survived the fierce battle against Gra'kar, they were now determined to move toward their next destination. As the preparations were completed, Balok approached Merslin's party with a deep sense of gratitude.
Balok (sincerely):
"I truly owe you my life. Living as a pirate, I've always been close to death, but this time, I could actually see the end. I survived thanks to you."
Merslin nodded, accepting Balok's gratitude. The battle had been a harsh trial for them as well, but knowing they had successfully stopped Gra'kar's madness and saved the island strengthened their resolve.
Merslin (gently):
"If we hadn't fought together, the outcome might have been very different. You played an important role as well."
Malgrim also approached Merslin's group, his eyes reflecting both deep fatigue and genuine appreciation.
Malgrim (gratefully):
"Thanks to your help, we were able to protect our people and this island. I sincerely thank you. Without you, we would not have won this battle."
Malgrim turned to his subordinates and gave them firm orders to provide the utmost hospitality for Merslin's group, ensuring they had everything they needed.
Malgrim (commanding his warriors):
"These people are our honored allies. Repair their ship and prepare the necessary supplies and provisions for their journey. Make sure they can rest comfortably on our island before they set sail."
The troll warriors immediately got to work, repairing the ship and gathering supplies. While the trolls recovered from the battle's exhaustion, Merslin's group was also able to rest and prepare for their next journey.
Merslin (gratefully):
"Malgrim, I appreciate your kindness. It was an honor to fight alongside you."
Malgrim (smiling warmly):
"The honor was mine. We will always remember our friendship. May your journey be blessed with fortune."
