Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Shooting Finish

The next day, the second group's camera was requisitioned to shoot the explosion scene.

Why does a youth rock movie have explosion scenes?

The plot is as follows:

Riff and Kate invited the rock band Ramones to the high school for a live concert and renamed the high school Rock High School. In the confrontation with the conservative female principal, Ms. Togar, Kate, who got an A+ in chemistry, configured some things, and the Riff used them to blow the principal's office.

There was only one chance to shoot this scene, so Roger Corman applied for a blasting permit from the Los Angeles police.

Director Allan arranged for dual-camera shooting to capture more footage, which would facilitate post-production editing.

Ronald took a Nikon SLR camera and became a still photographer, taking a lot of photos of each actor and then the staff. These photos, as well as photos of himself and them, would be placed in the photography studio in the future, and the client would immediately believe in his ability.

PJ Soles, who played the rebellious girl, was very happy. She managed to use her connections to get an evaluation of the sample film. Knowing that Ronald had taken a very good shot of her, she came over to chat about gossip.

When they were filming the concert at the Roxy Bar yesterday, the bar charged $600 for the venue fee for the entire day.

Because he was reluctant to spend the money, Roger Corman sold tickets publicly in the newspapers. He divided the tickets into three shifts: morning, afternoon, and evening. This not only subsidized the expenses but also got a lot of extras.

The fans bought tickets, thinking there would be a concert. But only six songs were filmed on the spot, and the fans only saw the band singing these six songs over and over again, and were often interrupted by the director. Just when this group of fans was about to quit, the time was up, and the next group of fans came.

Ronald could only take his hat off for his method. This money-saving method is unique in Hollywood.

Today's explosion scene also has a "money-saving trick". There is a press conference scene that requires many extras to play the role of reporters.

The boss, Roger, notified a real gossip reporter from a Hollywood newspaper to interview the Ramones. On the one hand, he wanted to thank the reporter for helping suppress the scandal of the band members going to the police station and repay the favor. On the other hand, real reporters are more like reporters than extras, and they are free.

Ronald laughed out loud and learned a few more money-saving tricks from Roger Corman.

As the night came, the Ramones and their fans set up a concert stage under the national flag at the entrance of the high school, and director Allen shouted "Action".

The lead actor, PJ Soles, took a prop modified from an air pump and pumped the pump as hard as he could.

"Boom!"

The loud noise was beyond Ronald's expectation, and his ears were buzzing. The huge fire even burned the national flag behind the stage, and the actors screamed and ran away.

The surrounding neighbors turned on the lights, opened the windows, and came out to check the situation. Some people even called the police.

This makeshift team miscalculated the power. Ronald covered his face and smiled bitterly. Fortunately, no accident happened.

The crew quickly packed up and retreated, just in time to slip away before the police arrived.

The last day of filming is December 22. The crew has scheduled the best indoor scene for today.

The two female protagonists were wearing gymnastics vests and sports shorts, and behind them was a group of invited high school gymnastics team members. Today's filming was of a class in the gymnastics hall.

In the past few years, the women's gymnastics of the Soviet Union, America's Cold War rival, dominated the Olympics. Their female athletes introduced difficult acrobatic movements into gymnastics, breaking away from the original ballet-style gymnastics that emphasized gracefulness.

Later, the women's gymnastics team of the Union visited America. The little girl with two pigtails did somersaults on TV every day. Parents of girls all over the United States went crazy and started sending their daughters to learn gymnastics. Many high schools opened gymnastics classes.

Youth exploitation films will naturally not let go of this theme, arranging some cool scenes, energetic gymnasts wearing gymnastics vests and sports shorts, playing vaulting horses, balance beams, and uneven bars to the accompaniment of rock music...

PJ Soles took the mic again and began to sing the theme song of the movie, "Rock n Roll High School." Dancing with her were sexy bombshells Chris and Mara, who had more screen time than PJ and Dey Young.

The gymnastics team girl in the background began to perform various gymnastic movements on the gymnastics equipment: Hmm... this vaulting movement seemed to be a shuttlecock cartwheel and a straight-body front flip... one foot stepped off the mat...

"This will deduct a lot of points," Ronald thought secretly.

The costumes and dances were designed to satisfy the audience's need for ice cream. The staff on site all watched with great interest, and it seems that the effect after the release will not be bad.

There was something wrong with PJ Soles' makeup in this scene. She played an 18-year-old high school student, but she was 28 years old. Although her youthfulness was not diminished, the skin on her legs betrayed her. Some veins were exposed, and the effect was not good in the close-up.

Everyone was at a loss. The makeup artist tried desperately to apply powder, but as soon as they started dancing, the powder fell off, making it impossible to take pictures.

The director wanted to shoot without makeup, but PJ Soules disagreed. The actress took her on-screen image very seriously.

Ronald suddenly had an idea and found PJ's husband, who was visiting the set. "Does PJ have pantyhose? We can let her wear them under her sports shorts. This will cover her legs without affecting her sexy image."

Her husband rushed to get the bag and dug out a pair of pantyhose. After PJ put them on, she successfully passed the shoot.

During lunch, PJ was very happy and came over with her husband to thank Ronald for his advice. If an actress is not photogenic, it may mean that she will not have the opportunity to play the young leading role in the future and will have to turn to the development of older supporting roles.

"Ronnie, this is my husband, Dennis Quaid. He's also an actor." PJ formally introduced her husband to Ronald.

"Hi Dennis, my name is Ronald Lee."

"Thanks for your advice, Ronald. You know how women are." Dennis smiled.

PJ Soles hit her husband Dennis on the chest several times , completely changing her image of a rebellious girl in the movie and looking as cute as a little bird.

Her husband, Dennis Quaid, is as strong as a bear, which contrasts nicely with his slim and beautiful wife.

The two got married not long ago and are still in love.

"So I have to call you Mrs. PJ Quaid from now on?" Ronald asked with a smile.

"No, she won't change her last name," said PJ's husband, Dennis.

Ronald was a little surprised.

Dennis Quaid explained the reason:

PJ is already well-known, has many film contracts in Hollywood, and will receive many scripts. The audience is already familiar with their names. If they suddenly change their surnames, the audience will not know who they are, which is not cost-effective for their careers.

Secondly, PJ has made many successful movies. Actors can receive a lot of follow-up income after the movies are released. In particular, the broadcast rights of her movies "Carrie" and "Halloween" were bought by TV stations. Every time they are broadcast on HBO TV, she gets a share of the profits. Every year, she receives a check of several thousand dollars from the Screen Actors Guild.

If you change your last name, the IRS system will most likely make mistakes and count one person's income as two people's, leading to a series of troubles. You might also be fined for applying the wrong tax rate. The bureaucratic system is slow to handle such problems, so you might as well not change it.

"There's one last telephone booth scene this afternoon, PJ." Ronald reminded them and went to line up for hot dogs.

The scene in the gym was completed smoothly. Directors Allan and Joe discussed it and decided to take over the last shot that Ronald was originally responsible for. They arranged a surprise for Ronald.

This scene is also the last scene of the whole film. It tells the story of:

Rebellious Riff Randell and good girl Kate Rambeau hear the radio station holding a telephone lottery while driving out. The first listener to give the correct answer will get two tickets to the Ramones concert.

The two of them hurriedly found a telephone booth, dragged out a man who was proposing to his girlfriend, seized the phone, and called the radio station.

Director Allan held up a bullhorn and said, "Our crew is very grateful to a boy who stepped forward to take responsibility in a difficult time and served as the temporary director for a day. He is..."

"Ronald!" everyone answered.

"He has been a great help to the crew. He gets along well with everyone, which has helped us achieve unprecedented efficiency and has made the actresses look incredibly beautiful. He is..."

"Ronald!"

"Today's last scene requires a boy to play the role of the man proposing marriage. Who is most qualified to play the role of the man proposing marriage?"

"Ronald!" Everyone laughed after saying this.

Starring PJ, Dai Young, and La Ronaldo, they enter the scene and push him into a phone booth.

The director of photography, Dean Cundy, also came over to measure the focal length for him personally.

Ronald also wanted to try out the feeling of being on the other side of the camera, so he took the fake beard handed to him by makeup artist and hairstylist Gigi. Then the stylist handed him a suit and tie...

Everything is ready...

Ronald put his hand on the phone, took a deep breath, and stood still in the phone booth.

"Action!" Allan ordered.

Ronald picked up the phone and began to perform:

"This is a very special question that I will only ask one woman in my life... Please don't hang up, this is a little difficult for me... I am asking you here..."

At this time, the two beautiful girls slammed the brakes and stopped the car outside the phone booth. PJ rushed to the phone booth, opened the door, and pulled Ronald out.

Ronald, who was acting as the man proposing, took a few quick steps back, tripped and fell, still muttering, "I am asking you to be my wife."

Dey Young supported him from behind and said jokingly, "I'm sorry, you're not my type."

"Cut!"

Director Allan Arkush yelled.

"This one is good."

Everyone applauded enthusiastically.

Allan raised his megaphone to applause: "I declare that the filming of 'Rock n Roll High School' is finished."

Ronald took off his suit, tore off his fake beard and handed it to the makeup artist, looking at the phone booth, and suddenly thought:

"I just happened to call my client Demi Guynes, who is going to take photos for an audition and arrange a time to come to her house for the photo shoot."

"Ronald, come on, let's go to the after party and have a good drink."

"I'll come right over after I make a call..."
