Chapter 26 - Chapter 26 Photo Shoot in a Luxury Apartment

Demi Guynes' apartment is in West Hollywood and it's a high-end apartment.

The next morning, Ronald drove an orange Volkswagen Hare to the gate of her apartment. Seeing that he was driving a cheap car, the guard stopped him and asked a lot of questions. Fortunately, Ronald was white. The gatekeeper agreed to call Demi and let him in after confirmation.

After parking the car, Ronald looked around. It was indeed much better than his apartment. Not only was there a watchman, but there was also an open-air swimming pool behind the gate, and next to it was a party venue, which still had the atmosphere of last night's revelry. From deep in the yard, the laughter of men and women and the sound of people diving could be heard faintly. It was estimated that there was a private swimming pool inside.

When he arrived at Demi's apartment, she and her boyfriend were already waiting at the door. "Hi, Ronald, welcome."

Ronald held the tripod in one hand and carried the camera and flash on his back, freeing one hand to shake hands with them.

Demi had shoulder-length black hair, a very straight nose, thick black eyebrows, and very bright eyes, except that one eye was slightly inconvenient to turn. Her face was very flat from the cheekbones down to the jaw, slightly concave, and her slightly square jaw showed her strong character, which was the most suitable face for a movie star.

Her boyfriend is Freddy Moore, the lead singer of the rock band The Nu-Kats. Deliberate misspellings of names are the fashion these days.

Freddy wore a pair of big black-framed glasses and looked nothing like a rock star, but rather like a high school nerd, the kind who was bullied by the football team in high school but managed to get into a good university and find a good job after graduation.

"We're shooting here?"

Demi and her boyfriend had obviously made some preparations in advance and cleaned up a bedroom, leaving three walls and a large open space for Ronald to shoot.

"Yes, Demi takes this photo shoot very seriously. She said the photos you take can bring people to life. So we made some preparations." Freddy put his arm around Demi's shoulders and smiled shyly.

"Do you have a bedroom floor lamp or table lamp? The kind next to the bed will do. I need some supplementary lighting."

Ronald quickly set up the tripod, loaded a new roll of film, mounted the camera on the tripod, and then took out a wire and connected it to the camera shutter.

"What is this?" Demi asked curiously.

"Shutter by wire."

Freddy brought in the floor lamp, and Ronald positioned it at an angle, adjusting it carefully so that the light on Demi's face matched and worked together.

Ronald positioned himself and asked Demi to remain still in the reserved shooting position. The light was carefully designed to illuminate Demi's face, giving her the beauty of an ancient Greek sculpture.

"The audition photo is for the casting director to discover your characteristics and match them with the role in the script. So you can't use too exaggerated lighting; it has to be in line with your characteristics." Ronald explained while observing Demi.

"You need to wear a solid-color top, not black or white, so as not to steal the limelight."

"Okay." Demi went to change into a light green T-shirt next door.

"This light-colored dress is fine. It sets off your hair color." Such a pure black hair color is rarely seen in America.

After adjusting the angle of the light, Ronald took out the light meter and placed it in front of Demi's eyes. After measuring the data, he adjusted the aperture of the camera.

Focusing carefully on Demi's eyes, Ronald said:

"Now try not to move too much forward or backward, otherwise, your eyes will be out of focus and dull." Ronald raised his head and poked his head out from behind the camera holding the shutter cable.

"It's a bit presumptuous to ask this, because I need to focus on your eyes, and your eyeballs seem..."

"Yes, I had strabismus in one eye when I was a child and have had two operations. The doctor said it will get better as I get older," Demi explained generously.

"Okay, I'll use the pupil of the other eye to focus. It won't affect the final photo." Ronald liked this frank attitude very much.

"Give me a thoughtful look now, Demi." Ronald stood next to the camera with the remote shutter in his hand and talked to Demi, paying attention to Demi's expression.

"What?" Demi didn't understand.

"Think of one thing in your mind. You don't have to tell me what it is, but think of one thing."

"No, this one is not good. Change it... This one is good." Ronald pressed the shutter.

"Another, well, I like this expression."

Click, click, click, the automatic film winder works with the shutter to quickly replace the exposed film with a new one.

"When I was modeling, the photographers were different," Demi said. "They just asked me to pose."

"The director mainly looks at your temperament. I will try my best to restore your original characteristics. You are a very heroic image."

Click, click, Ronald was filming, when suddenly a girl's scream came from outside the window, and then someone fell into the water with a splash, "Ah...hahahaha." Another burst of women's laughter was heard, as if someone was playing diving.

Ronald's hands trembled; he frowned and paused filming.

Demi walked to the window, opened the curtains, and shouted to the private swimming pool below:

"Hi, Natasha, are you back?"

"Hey, Demi, aren't you going to come down and play in the water?" a voice came faintly.

"I'm taking audition photos. Can you please hold off jumping into the pool? The photographer needs silence."

"Okay, I'll wait for you..."

She stood in the right position again, measured the light, and focused. Ronald signaled that she could start over.

"Give me a loving look."

This set of photos was taken for a romantic comedy audition, which required a playful and adoring look. Ronald asked her boyfriend, Freddie to stand opposite Demi to cooperate.

Click, click, click. It was done quickly.

"I'll send it to Kodak later. If you're willing to pay Kodak an extra $5, we can expedite it. I've selected the photos and enlarged them. It'll be done in about an hour."

Demi discussed it with her boyfriend and decided to expedite the process, and then the two of them went to the Kodak photo processing shop with Ronald.

Kodak has photo processing shops with the same quality in all of America. No matter which shop you go to with your film, the quality of the prints is the same. This is also a reflection of the technology and management strength of this Fortune 500 giant that stands out from the crowd.

There were not many customers in the morning, so the three of them waited for more than 10 minutes and saw the machine spit out 36 photos.

Demi leaned on the counter and looked at her photos carefully. Her boyfriend hugged her lovingly, "Your photos are all very beautiful."

Demi turned around and kissed her boyfriend, selected two photos, and asked Ronald:

"I'll choose these two. Do you think they're okay? Ronald."

Ronald took one look and saw that these were the two most beautiful ones.

He pointed at the other two and said, "I usually follow the opinions of my clients, but if you were my friend, I would suggest you choose these two."

"Why?"

One of these two photos shows a serious face without a smile, and the other shows a smiling face suitable for a romantic scene. Ronald pointed at the photos and asked Demi's boyfriend, "What do you think Demi is thinking about in these two photos?"

"This one seems full of love, um, no, it seems a little jealous? I can't say anything about this one. Maybe it's happy, but it also seems a little sad."

Ronald spread his hands and said, "Demi, your face is very suitable for filming. Whether you light it from the left or the right, you can take beautiful close-ups. But if you ask me, your greatest talent is expression."

"The audience can see more than one expression and inner emotions on this face. I can't really explain why, I just know that the director likes this kind of face very much," Ronald concluded.

"Then choose these two, thank you, Ronald." Demi said and came up to hug him.

Ronald patted Demi politely and said to the Kodak staff, "Please enlarge this one and this one, 6 inches x 8 inches, five copies per sheet. Leave a white border."

After a while, the photos were put in place, and Ronald asked again, "Do you have a typing device here? Please type her name below the photo."

Ronald then asked Demi, "What stage name are you going to use?"

"I don't know, can't I use my real name?"

"Of course you can, but most actors will have a stage name." Ronald said, "You should choose a stage name that sounds loud, such as Sean Connery, who plays 007 James Bond, and Roger Moore, both have four syllables, with a combination of long and short sounds, which is easy to pronounce."

Demi's eyes lit up, and she turned around and hugged her boyfriend Freddy Moore, "Freddy, you will always love me, right?"

"certainly."

"So when will you marry me?"

"Darling, I told you that I need some time to talk to Lucy. After I'm done with her, we'll get married."

"I don't care, I want to marry you."

"Okay, I will definitely divorce Lucy, believe me, sweetheart."

Demi turned to the stunned Ronald and said,

"I'm going to marry Freddie soon. I'm going to use his last name and Demi Moore as my stage name."
