Night came, and so did Alice's troubles. Her phone had not stopped going off, with constant calls and messages from her husband. While she was trying hard to ignore everyone, they had marched up to the Marge mansion to find her. Blair and everyone else were seated when the guards walked in and informed them of the Murfields' arrival. Brandon turned to Kabir, who gave him a little nod.
"Let them in," Brandon ordered. From the corner, Alice trembled; her body and mind did not want to meet the treacherous eyes of her husband, but it was too late. The doorbell rang, and soon they stood before her. Mr. George Murfield's smug, thundering steps against the marble floor were not helping.
"Why did you not call home when she came to you? She is your brother's wife. Do you have any idea how worried he has been?" Brandon turned to Claude, wearing a solemn expression; his sullen eyes carried pain and tears.
"I was worried," he murmured, stepping closer to Alice, who quickly backed away.
