Nicholas was sitting at his desk and patiently waiting for Max to bring the report about Isabella. But he was taking too much time. Nicholas was tapping his fingers on the desk as, with each passing second, his patience was slowly slipping away from him.
Nicholas had given the order to Max yesterday evening, and it was morning now, but he still hadn't received the report. And it was drawing him to the edge. He wondered whether his men had become incompetent.
He forgave them for the fact that they hadn't been able to find Isabella in five years, but even now, when she already was in his domain, they were taking time to find just some mere information about her, which was enraging him.
Just when Nicholas was on his last line of patience, a knock echoed in the air, pulling him out of his thoughts. He stopped tapping on the desk and glanced at the door before permitting the person to come inside.
The door slowly opened, and Max walked inside the room; his soul instantly trembled with fear when he saw the darkness in Nicholas' eyes. Max had worked for Nicholas for years, but he was still afraid of him. Yet his fear didn't stop him from swearing his loyalty to Nicholas.
Max didn't show his fear and calmed himself. He put on his professional expression and stopped in front of the desk. He slightly bowed and handed a file to Nicholas before speaking,
"I apologize for taking time, boss. Here is the detailed report of Miss's last five years' activities."
Nicholas released a deep breath to control his rage and took the file from his hand hurriedly. He looked at Max and said coldly,
"Understood. You can leave."
Max, without any other words, bowed before leaving silently. The moment the door closed, Nicholas opened the file. He slowly started to read every little detail Max had spent the whole last night finding out.
As Nicholas was slowly reading the documents, he found out the reasons he and his men didn't find Isabella.
The first reason was because Isabella and her brother had changed their identities to move to another country. But just changing their identities wasn't a problem for him. He could have found them even with their alternative identities. The main reason was because they went to country Averna.
Apparently, Nicholas, basically, the whole Costa family didn't have any influence there. After Nicholas took over the throne, he tried to spread his influence there but didn't succeed because his family had some beef with the leader of country Averna that Nicholas was unaware of.
Despite that, Nicholas still tried to find Isabella there, but he didn't find any trace. They met with a dead end. He sent his search team there twice, and both of the times they returned empty-handed.
Now that he knew she was in Averna, he felt someone had deliberately stopped him from finding her. Someone dared to hide her from him. If his feeling was true, then he needed to look into it later. Find that person and make him pay for separating her from him.
Nicholas continued reading further information about what his little moon did in those five years. A smile formed on his lips as he took in the details. He was reading everything.
Every single detail about what she did in every single second. He didn't want to miss even a single moment, and he was enjoying reading it. Max did a good job of finding the information.
The smile on Nicholas's face suddenly fell, and his heart stopped beating when he came across certain information. He had to read and re-read it multiple times to make sure that he didn't get it wrong.
When his mind perceived that what he read was correct, his eyes darkened dangerously. His little moon was pregnant. She gave birth to twins. She had children. She had children with another man.
How dare another man take his place? How dare someone else touch her other than him? How dare someone touch what was his? Rage filled his mind as he wondered who was the father of the twins. He needed to kill the man who dared to take his place. His little moon was only his. She would be only his.
But soon that rage disappeared when he read in the documents that the children didn't have a father. He frowned as he learned the twins' ages. Nicholas read the whole document calmly over and over again, and in the end, he came across the twins' picture.
Nicholas's frown deepened, and his heart beat wildly as he scanned the twins' image, his eyes locked on them. The little boy looked exactly like him. He looked like a little version of him. And the girl looked like Isabella but had golden eyes. His golden eyes.
As he stared at their images, everything slowly clicked, and Nicholas put every little thing together, leading a devious smile to break into his mouth. It didn't take long for him to realize that the twins were his. The children Isabella gave birth to were his.
Nicholas didn't need any documents or DNA reports to prove that they were his. Their images were enough. Especially their eyes. Only the direct lineage of the Costa family had golden eyes. At present, only Nicholas and his father had those bewitching golden eyes.
Now his children have them. His children that he had with his little moon. Their children.
Immense joy filled Nicholas's heart, and his eyes twinkled as he stared at the twins and his little moon's pictures. He couldn't stop staring at them. They were his family. They were his.
Nicholas smirked deviously as he found another good opportunity to cage his little moon. There was no way his little moon would have been able to get away from him. And now it had become impossible.
Now no one could come between them. No one could save her from him. Not even himself. He would soon unite with his beautiful family. He would cage her. His little moon.
"Now you can never escape from me, Mia Luna. Never." Nicholas whispered darkly, his voice laced with pure obsession.
A knock sounded on the door and yanked Nicholas back to reality. He looked up from the pictures, and Luca walked inside the room.
Luca stared at the happy Nicholas with a frown. He heard the news of finally finding Isabella, and he thought maybe she was the reason behind his happiness. He wanted to talk about it, but he decided to finish the business first.
"It's time for the conference meeting. It will start in ten minutes. We shall make our way there now." Luca uttered calmly.
"Got it," Nicholas muttered, his tone laced with happiness.
"And I heard last night that you had finally found her. Good to hear that. Congratulations, bro." Luca said with a smile.
Nicholas smiled back and nodded. Nicholas thought about something for a second before instructing Luca,
"Gave me all the information about the twins. What they like, their habits, hobbies, everything."
Nicholas wanted to know everything about his little stars before he went to them. He would win them. Luca nodded, confused, and asked, his confusion evident in his tone,
"Okay, but whose twins?"
"Mine."
"Oh, okay, yours," Luca whispered absentmindedly, but soon his eyes widened when Nicholas's words sank into him.
"What?" Luca exclaimed in shock.
"Your children. When did you have children? Why don't I know?" Luca asked in one breath.
"Mine and Isabella's children. I also found it now." Nicholas said calmly, extending the file to Luca.
Luca took the file from Nicholas hurriedly before reading the documents hastily. He gasped when he saw the twins pictures. Soon a smile formed on his lips, and he murmured,
"Wow, this is the most shocking and pleasant news. The whole underworld will go crazy when they learn about it."
Nicholas's smile instantly disappeared at Luca's words. He hadn't thought about the underworld. Now that he mentioned it, his mind started to race.
What he said was true. They truly would go crazy, but most of them with the desire to kill them. If they found out about them, it would be dangerous. Their lives would be in danger.
No, he couldn't let them find Isabella and the twins, not until he had them with him. Nicholas shook his head while saying seriously,
"The people in the underworld must not know. Especially my uncle. For the twins and Isabella's safety, it's better if no one knows. I'm only trusting you, Lorenzo, and Max. Don't let this news leak. Got it."
"Got it," Luca said while nodding, understanding Nicholas.
"I will take care of finding the information. Now, we should head to the meeting." Luca said, making Nicholas nod.
Nicholas stood up and put on his jacket. He strode out of his cabin with Luca trailing behind him. The aura around him turned cold and unapproachable, making the employees hold their breaths and be afraid to even look away from their computer screens.
The employee breathed out when Nicholas left. They started to whisper as they took notice of Nicholas' change of emotions. They were glad and relieved by Nicholas' change of emotions.
The cold and unapproachable aura of Nicholas was more acceptable to them than the aura he had for the last five years.
After the disappearance of Isabella, the aura around Nicholas turned dark and murderous. The employees' lives turned into live horror movies. In those five years, the employee was fired for even a tiny mistake. There was not a single person in the company who didn't witness and was a victim of Nicholas Warth.
The employees thanked whoever was the reason for Nicholas' sudden change. They prayed for Nicholas to stay like this forever.
As Nicholas walked toward the conference room, he planned how he was going to approach Isabella. He would be patient and put his plan into work slowly.
He would make sure she would never be able to run away from him again. He had prepared everything for his little moon in those five years. Now it was time to start it. It was time to have her.
The game began now.
