Nathan's POV
Damn it!
Why her?!
Anita majestically made her way toward us as the prisoner and I heaved heavily from the fight. Blood dripped from the corner of my mouth, and my knuckles throbbed, but I didn't care. I barely registered the pain.
When she reached us, she didn't waste a second before turning to the prison guard. "Who started the fight?" she demanded.
"Him," the guard said without hesitation, pointing straight at me.
Her eyes, filled with disgust, snapped back to me. Then, she took a step forward—and unexpectedly—SLAP.
My head whipped to the side. My cheek stung like fire.
I gritted my teeth and clenched my fists, every instinct in me screaming to retaliate. But I knew better. I was already skating on thin ice. One wrong move, and I'd be wishing for a life sentence instead of just facing it.
But she wasn't done. Another step. SLAP—again, harder this time.
"You ungrateful animal!" she spat, her voice trembling with fury.
