Mirio shook his head, still grinning. "You are something else, Ryuu!"
Nejire latched onto me like she had been waiting for this moment her whole life. "My brother is so cool! Even Mirio couldn't do anything, hehe."
I barely had time to react before she practically tackled me, her arms locking around my shoulders. "You totally read him like a book! Oh my gosh, Ryuu, that was amazing!"
I sighed, prying her off. "Not that serious, Bubblehead."
She ignored me and turned to Mirio, pointing a dramatic finger. "Did you see that? He saw through all your moves!"
Mirio, still rubbing his shoulder where the bat connected, grinned. "Yeah, I did."
Kaminari whistled. "Dude, you actually landed a hit. That is more than all of us combined."
"Of course, he did!" Nejire puffed her chest out, still hanging onto my arm. "He is my little brother! He is the best!"
I shot her a look. "We met, like, ten minutes ago."
"Doesn't matter. It is destiny."
Mina nudged Kaminari. "She got the energy of a fangirl who just found out her favorite character is real."
Kirishima shook his head, grinning. "Man, that was awesome, though! He actually got Mirio to react."
Bakugo clicked his tongue. "Tch. That was just luck."
Nejire gasped, turning to him. "Excuse me? That was pure skill, and you know it!"
Bakugo scowled. "Whatever."
Mirio clapped his hands. "Alright, alright, let's cool down a bit. That was great, Ryuu! You figured out my weakness real quick."
I shrugged. "Not that hard. You go blind when you phase. Means you gotta predict where you land."
Todoroki spoke up, watching me. "You used that against him."
"Yup."
Mirio nodded. "And that is exactly the kind of thinking that makes for a great hero!"
I stretched. "Or a great pain in the ass, depending on who you ask."
Nejire nodded enthusiastically. "Both! Definitely both!"
Mina leaned on my shoulder. "You realize this means Mirko is gonna be even crazier about keeping you at her agency, right?"
Sero grinned. "Yeah, no way she is letting you go now."
Nejire gasped again, like she just remembered something important. "Oh my god, I should tell her about this! She will be so proud!" She started digging through her phone.
I groaned. "Do not text her."
"Too late!"
Mirio laughed. "Looks like you are stuck with them."
Kirishima clapped my back. "Hey, could be worse!"
Todoroki tilted his head slightly. "Could it?"
"Wow, rude," Nejire huffed, still tapping on her phone. "I will have you know, Ryuu is very lucky to have me as a big sister."
"Still not my sister."
"Yet."
I stared at her. "The fuck does that mean?"
She beamed. "It means you are stuck with me now!"
Mineta, who had been suspiciously quiet, suddenly smirked. "Ryuu, if you don't want this Oppai Nee-san, I can take your place."
Nejire blinked, processing. Then her smile turned sweet... too sweet. The kind of sweet that came right before something terrible happened.
I sighed. "Oh, here we go."
Before Mineta could react, Nejire grabbed him by the collar, lifting him like he was a misbehaving kitten. "Aw, that is so cute! You think you have a chance!"
Mineta flailed. "Wait, wait, I was just..."
Nejire started spinning, holding him out like a human fidget spinner. "What was that? You wanna take Ryuu's place? Hmm, let's see if you meet the requirements!"
Mineta's protests turned into panicked yelling. "W-Wait! Let's talk about this!"
Mirio, still grinning, didn't move to help. Tamaki barely glanced over. Kaminari and Kirishima had already pulled out their phones.
Nejire stopped mid-spin, staring at Mineta like she was actually considering it. "Hmm. Let's see. Do you have a killer mouth?"
Mineta gulped. "Uh..."
"Do you fight people twice your size just because you are bored? Well anyone you fight is twice your size. Let's go with four times your size."
"First of all, rude. Secondly, that seems like a bad idea..."
"Have you ever personally insulted a top ten hero to their face and lived?"
Mineta paled. "Why would anyone..."
Nejire smiled. "Yeah, you are not built for this." Then she let go.
Mineta crashed onto the floor with a squeak.
"Denied!" Nejire dusted her hands off. "Sorry, but my little bro is one of a kind!"
Mina poked my side. "Bro, you really picked up a whole older sister just like that."
I sighed, nudging Mineta's limp form with my foot. "Did you learn your lesson?"
Mineta groaned. "I think I have a concussion."
"Good enough."
Mirio stretched. "Alright, alright, let's get back on track." He gestured toward Aizawa, who looked about two seconds away from kicking all of us out.
Aizawa sighed. "If you are done with whatever this was, we need to move on."
Nejire made a 'zip my lips' motion.
Aizawa ignored her. "Since your provisional licenses are active, expect more responsibilities. Find agencies that can make you better heroes."
Iida nodded. "Understood, Sensei! We will take this opportunity to further our growth!"
Bakugo scoffed. "Tch. If you need to be told that, you don't belong here."
Mirio smiled. "That is the spirit! It is a big jump from what you've done before, but it is the best way to improve!"
Todoroki crossed his arms. "Internships are supposed to be optional, right?"
Tamaki, still looking like he would rather be anywhere else, spoke up. "Yeah. But if you don't take one, you are missing out on experience."
Yaoyorozu nodded. "It would be unwise to pass up the opportunity."
Mirio clapped his hands. "Exactly! Now, those of you who haven't picked an agency yet, let's talk options."
Uraraka leaned forward. "Do agencies send offers, or do we reach out?"
Nejire hummed. "Bit of both! Some of you probably got invitations already."
Izuku raised a hand. "What if we want to go somewhere different than our last internships?"
Aizawa answered, "You will have to apply directly. Agencies don't just take students for no reason."
I stretched, already tired of the conversation. "We doing this all day, or are we wrapping it up?"
Aizawa gave me a tired look. "You can leave when we are done, Ryuu."
Mirio grinned. "Actually, one last thing!" He turned toward the class. "A piece of advice... pick an agency that will push you. Comfort won't make you stronger."
Aizawa cut in before we got sidetracked again. "If you haven't picked an agency yet, decide soon. We are done here."
People started getting up, already discussing their plans. Mineta was still lying on the floor.
Nejire ruffled my hair. "Alright, little bro, don't miss me too much!"
I swatted her hand away. "Yeah, yeah, just don't get lost on your way out."
She laughed, skipping toward the door with Tamaki trailing behind her. Mirio gave a final thumbs-up before following.
Kirishima stretched. "Whew, that was a lot."
Kaminari grinned. "Bro, I can't wait to hear you get bullied by Mirko again."
I sighed. "I hate all of you."
Mina patted my back. "No, you don't."
Bakugo shoved past, muttering, "Dumbasses."
Yaoyorozu checked her phone. "We should head to the dorms."
–
I waited until the halls were quiet. Everyone else was either asleep or too tired to care what I was doing. Sneaking out of the dorms wasn't hard... security was designed to keep threats out, not idiots like me in.
A few quick steps, a hop over the fence, and I was free.
U.A. to home wasn't a long trip, but it had been a while since I visited. Longer for Izuku. Mom missed us. I could tell from her texts.
The city at night was quieter, but not dead. A few shops were still open, streetlights buzzing. I kept my hoodie up, hands in my pockets, moving without much thought.
Familiar streets. Familiar turns. I was home before I even realized it.
The lights were still on.
I climbed up to the second-floor window and slid it open. Stealthy, smooth, like I done it a hundred times before. Because I had.
Mom was in the kitchen, washing dishes, humming to herself.
I grinned. It would be a crime not to mess with her a little.
I moved quietly, stepping behind her. Hands wrapped around her waist, and I leaned in, voice low.
"Don't make a sound."
She didn't even flinch. Didn't stiffen, didn't gasp. Just kept washing the damn plate.
"Welcome back, honey," she said, tone completely flat. "Let me dry my hands, then I am going medieval on your naughty ass."
I sighed. "No fun at all."
She shut the faucet off, grabbed a towel, then smacked me in the head with it.
I backed up. "Okay, yeah, I deserved that."
"You deserve worse," she muttered, shaking her head. "Breaking into your own home like a delinquent."
I sat at the table, stretching. "To be fair, I am a delinquent."
She gave me a look but didn't argue. "You hungry?"
"Always for your meals."
She walked over to the stove, already heating something up. "And where is your brother?"
"At the dorms, probably mumbling about All Might in his sleep."
She hummed, stirring whatever she had in the pot. "You should've brought him."
"Yeah, but then I couldn't sneak in through the window."
She gave me a tired look. "You have a key."
"Where is the fun in that?"
She muttered something about "raising gremlins" under her breath but didn't push it.
The food didn't take long. I grabbed my bowl, eating straight from the counter.
Mom leaned against it, watching. "Are you staying the night?"
I nodded. "Figured I should. Been a while."
She smiled a little, like that was exactly what she wanted to hear but wouldn't say out loud.
I dropped onto the couch, head landing in Mom's lap as she flipped through channels. The warmth of her hand found my hair, fingers threading through it lazily.
"We are starting internships now that we have our provisional hero licenses," I muttered.
She hummed, still playing with my hair. "Going to Mirko and Ryukyu again?"
"Looks like it. Mirko already made it clear I don't have a choice, and Ryukyu is too responsible to let me go unsupervised."
Mom chuckled. "That sounds about right."
"She is worried I'm gonna be a bad influence on her sidekicks," I added.
Mom raised a brow. "And she has right to be."
"Wow, no faith."
She patted my cheek lightly. "I have plenty of faith. Just not in your ability to stay out of trouble."
I closed my eyes, letting her fingers move through my hair. "Fair."

[Camera fades in. Ryuu sitting in hoodie. Sad LoFi plays.]
"Hey guys. I just wanted to say I'm sorry... sorry you scrolled past the Power Stone button like my pain meant nothing."
"I've grown. I've reflected. And now I'm dropping bonus chapters... for the fans who voted."
[Zooms in.]
"I forgive you.
But I will never write you a redemption arc."
