Chapter 76 - Chapter 76: The Aftermath

In the basement, the originally solemn atmosphere had disappeared! Professor Snape (a common nickname for Professor Snape) and Boggin each found a corner to squat in, as if they were both deep in thought.

Meanwhile, Light questioned Garcia.

Garcia let out a hearty laugh and said to Light, "Great, there's not the slightest sign of transformation. It's been a long time since I took a stroll under the moon."

"However, it was extremely painful when taking the potion! Can you reduce the Pain? After all, many of my family members are quite frail!"

Garcia looked at Light with a hopeful expression.

"Alright, I'll improve it! I'll block the Pain while ensuring the efficacy of the potion!"

"However, I've run out of ingredients! The ingredient is the blood of a werewolf! You need to provide it for me!"

After saying that, Light picked up another bottle of potion from the workbench and handed it to Garcia.

"I still have one more bottle here! See if anyone needs it!"

Garcia took the potion and looked at it curiously.

Previously, he had been so terrified that he just gulped it down. But this time, seeing the potion, he didn't feel the same fear as before.

After observing it for a while, he suddenly turned around and approached John with the potion in his right hand.

John, who had been daydreaming, was startled by the sudden sense of fear and almost wet himself!

Garcia nodded in satisfaction when he saw John's reaction. Then he took out his pocket - watch, checked the time, bid farewell to Light, and dragged John away.

Light didn't care about their departure. He first walked towards Professor Snape.

As the sun was rising, Garcia and John swaggered down the streets of Knockturn Alley.

"Come on, just ask! Stop looking so wishy - washy. It doesn't suit you," Garcia said, looking at John with disdain.

"Why didn't you make him swear an oath? We both did!" John waved his arms around wildly and said discontentedly.

"Precisely because we both took oaths, and there are two of us. Do you understand?" Garcia glanced at John, who was still confused.

"There are two of us. What if I sacrifice your life for my own good life and let others know the news?"

"You wouldn't do that. You're Garcia! I trust you!" John said firmly and proudly.

Garcia couldn't help but sigh and put his hand on his forehead.

"That's what you think, but they don't think so. If I insisted on making the witness take an oath, we probably wouldn't have been able to leave that place."

"They need someone to keep one of us in check in case we sacrifice our lives to reveal the news; it's their insurance measure."

After listening to Garcia's explanation, John scratched his head and asked even more puzzledly, "How do they know if we break the oath?"

Hearing John's words, Garcia gave him a speechless look, raised the hand that had taken the oath, and explained helplessly.

"The two parties who took the oath can know if the other party breaks the oath through the connection established before. Otherwise, why didn't I take the oath with you? I was just afraid of pushing them too far!"

As John listened to Garcia's explanation, he suddenly stopped walking, his face full of disbelief.

He had never thought there were so many tricks in it. His mind was overloaded (like a pig's brain being over - worked)!

"Let's go! There are still many things to handle! Don't just stand there like a fool!"

Hearing Garcia's call, John, who was standing there in a daze, flashed a smile and scurried up eagerly. Then they went back to their base together.

In the basement, Light greeted Professor Snape, who had a poker face. He hunched his shoulders, rubbed his hands together, and wore an obsequious smile on his face.

"Professor, I'm really sorry! I didn't do it on purpose. I didn't want this to happen either!"

Professor Snape looked deeply at the smiling boy in front of him and said calmly, "It doesn't matter. At least I learned a remarkable piece of news! ... Come and see me off!"

Professor Snape didn't seem too affected. After pondering for a moment, he showed the intention to leave.

Hearing this, Light raised his eyebrows. He knew that Professor Snape wanted to have a private chat with him.

"Sure! Sure! I'll see you off!" Light of course readily agreed and led the way in front.

All the way to the door, Light also grabbed a few precious ingredients from the shop as gifts for Professor Snape on the way, and Professor Snape didn't refuse.

Standing at the shop door, Professor Snape looked at Light, who was all smiles. After hesitating for a moment, he said to him,

"The potion you developed is very dangerous. I believe you also know the consequences it will bring!"

"I firmly believe that there are no secrets in this world; once more than two people know a piece of news, it will surely be exposed, just a matter of time."

Looking at Light, whose smile had disappeared and who was silently lowering his head, Professor Snape couldn't help but sigh. His tone was sincere.

"I'm really sorry about this, Light! Although it's really shameless of me to say this, I still hope you can tell Dumbledore about this news!"

Light was silent for a long time and then said in a low voice, "I understand!"

Seeing that Light didn't give a definite answer, Professor Snape didn't press further. Instead, he said goodbye and then turned to leave.

"It seems the talk didn't go smoothly!" Boggin's greasy voice came from in front of the counter.

"Are you done with your business? Just standing here making sarcastic remarks!" Light retorted irritably.

"I still have a little bit left to deal with. It's not a big problem. No! Compared with what you've done, what I've got is just the tip of the iceberg!"

There was no more greasiness in Boggin's voice, and his tone was very solemn.

After a long silence, Light finally couldn't help but ask, "What's your opinion?"

After finally hearing what he wanted to hear, Boggin coughed twice and seriously shared his opinion with Light.

"At present, none of the people here wants this news to be revealed. But everyone knows that this news will definitely be revealed."

"So they're all stalling, hoping this fire won't burn on them, especially those two werewolves!"

Here, Boggin paused. After glancing at Light, whose brows were tightly knitted, he continued,

"They, including me, can hide. But you, as the center of the storm, can't escape no matter what!"

"As an elder, I don't want to see an outstanding young man disappear like this. So I hope you can choose your allies well!"

After saying that, Boggin just quietly looked at the silent Light!

Light let out a long breath and said impatiently, "So, who do you speak for? The pure - bloods? The Ministry of Magic? Or the Death Eaters who follow Voldemort?"

"Maybe all of them! Those who cling stubbornly to their positions won't have a good chance of survival. Isn't the world always like this?"

Looking at Boggin, who had put on his greasy smile again, Light already knew what kind of person he was.

A 'broker', an intermediary who maneuvers among different forces!

Light, now fully aware of the situation, squinted his eyes and said indifferently, "So, are you going to get caught up in this stormy wave?"

"Of course not. I just hope to get out of this mess unscathed before the storm hits. After all, I'm just a merchant!"

Boggin's smile became even greasier.
