Chapter 81 - Chapter 81: The Start of the Second School Year

Light grabbed Hermione, who wanted to follow Professor McGonagall, and said, "It's no use for us to follow now. The professors can handle it."

After finally calming Hermione down, the two walked into the auditorium and found seats at the Gryffindor table.

Light looked up at the professors' platform. Neither Professor Snape nor Professor McGonagall was there, and Headmaster Dumbledore didn't show up either!

Meanwhile, Lockhart had taken the seat that was originally Quirrell's. He was grinning widely, showing his big teeth and flashing a shiny smile, as if someone was taking pictures of him at any moment.

Looking up at the empty main seat, Light was a bit curious as to why Headmaster Dumbledore hadn't appeared.

As time passed, the Sorting Ceremony, originally presided over by Professor McGonagall, didn't start for a long time. Only the shabby Sorting Hat was singing an incomprehensible song alone.

Now, not only the new young wizards began to get restless, but also the students from each house started whispering to each other and asking about the reason.

Just then, the castle gates opened again! Professor McGonagall rushed over and walked up to the Sorting Hat, announcing the start of the ceremony.

When the Sorting Hat saw Professor McGonagall coming, it stopped singing and waited for her to call the names!

During the Sorting Ceremony, Light saw Harry Potter and Ron, looking a bit disheveled, sneaking into the auditorium.

Then, they were caught by Professor Snape, who had been looking for them.

"Oh no, what should we do! Harry Potter and Ron have been caught by Snape. Will they be expelled?"

Apparently, Hermione also saw Professor Snape catching Harry Potter and Ron. She was muttering anxiously with a panicked look on her face!

There was nothing Light could do. He could only comfort her in a round - about way, Hermione, who was nearly jumping up and screeching like a groundhog.

Finally, when the Sorting Ceremony ended and Professor McGonagall had just put away the Sorting Hat, Professor Snape rushed over.

Professor Snape, with a gloomy face, leaned over and whispered to Professor McGonagall. Professor McGonagall first looked at him in shock, then left with an angry look on her face.

Right after Professor Snape and Professor McGonagall left, Headmaster Dumbledore suddenly appeared on the platform. Light looked at the person who had appeared out of thin air.

He saw Headmaster Dumbledore smiling and shouting loudly to the students:

"Welcome our new students! And welcome back, our old students! Now, let the dinner begin! Dig in and have a great time!"

After Headmaster Dumbledore finished speaking, he gently waved his right hand, and plates of delicious food suddenly appeared on the tables.

When Light was about to look away, he accidentally caught a glimpse of Headmaster Dumbledore's raised right hand. His pupils shrank, and a cold sweat broke out on his back!

After announcing the start of the dinner, Headmaster Dumbledore left the auditorium in a hurry!

Looking at the delicious food on the table, Light thought of what he had just seen and completely lost his appetite!

He also had no mood to have dinner with Hermione!

"I remember I warned him. Why did he still fall for it!" Thinking of the ancient ring on Headmaster Dumbledore's right finger, Light's face contorted involuntarily.

Having no desire to eat, Light took out several thermal lunch boxes from the box Garcia gave him and started packing the food with a worried look on his face.

After the dinner was over, Headmaster Dumbledore suddenly appeared again. He gave some instructions, led the school song, and then hurried away.

On the way back to the dormitory after singing the school song, Light unexpectedly heard a lot about Harry Potter and Ron!

Perhaps the Sorting Hat really had some tricks up its sleeve. The students in Gryffindor were all saying, 'Coming to school in a flying car is so cool!' There wasn't a single negative word.

After Harry Potter and Ron returned to the Gryffindor common room, instead of being mocked, many people looked at them with admiration, as if they had done something really awesome.

After Hermione knew that Harry Potter and Ron were okay, her tense nerves relaxed. Then she said to Light, 'Give it to me!'

'What's that?' Light looked at Hermione in confusion.

'Your packed dinner!' Hermione turned her head away a bit shyly.

'Here you go!' Light didn't ask any more questions. Light knew that Hermione, like her, hadn't eaten much. So she gave her one of the thermal lunch boxes she was carrying.

'Thanks!' Hermione quickly took the lunch box, found a seat, and started eating.

Harry Potter and Ron were surrounded by everyone. Harry Potter was a bit embarrassed at first, but later, as Ron boasted, he relaxed and began to talk about their exciting day.

After returning to the dormitory, Harry Potter and Ron ate the dinner Light had brought back and told Neville and Seamus about their experiences today while eating, leaving them completely stunned!

Light listened to them boasting and ate the food in the lunch box listlessly.

After washing up, Light lay in bed with a mind full of thoughts. She tossed and turned. It wasn't until the second half of the night that she finally managed to sort things out and fell into a deep sleep.

The next day, Light got up early. She followed the crowd to the auditorium, putting aside her worries, and started to enjoy a sumptuous breakfast.

Harry Potter and Ron didn't look as high - spirited as they did last night. They seemed absent - minded, as if they realized that something bad was about to happen.

Just as Light was frantically replenishing her energy, she heard someone exclaim, 'Oh my god! Harry Potter and Ron Weasley are on the newspaper!'

'The front - page headline features an action photo. The car flew across the city sky, and you could even see two people in the driver's cab!'

Light didn't take the passed - around newspaper. Instead, she took out her wand and cast a Spells (Muffliato) on herself, then got ready to watch the show!

Not long after she finished casting the spell, an old owl flew into the auditorium shakily, carrying a red letter in its beak.

With a panicked look on Ron's face, the owl flew unsteadily towards him and handed over the letter. Finally, the owl lost its balance and crashed into the milk jug.

The students who knew what was going on kept their distance from Ron and also looked like they were ready to watch the show!

Harry Potter, who knew the power of the howler, involuntarily swallowed hard and looked at Ron with a panicked expression.

Ron, holding the howler, was about to cry. He closed his eyes and tremblingly opened the letter.

As soon as he tore a small opening, the letter started to move on its own. It automatically folded into a big mouth, and a thunderous voice echoed throughout the hall.

'Ron! How dare you keep this from us? Ah!'

How on earth did you dare to drive the car to the school without permission!

If the school kicks you out because of this, I won't bat an eye. Just you wait and see how I'll teach you a lesson then!

You've got no clue how your dad and I felt when we found the car was gone...

Harry Potter and Ron, who were closest to the howler, felt like they were going to go deaf!

The scolding voice reverberated through the auditorium, and the sound waves even made the tableware on the tables rattle.

Such a commotion caught the attention of all the students having breakfast. They all looked over, wondering: Whose guts are so big!

The howling in the auditorium finally stopped more than ten minutes later!

Light didn't cancel the Spells until he saw everyone in the auditorium had removed their hands from their ears.
