Chapter 97 - Chapter 97: The Basilisk

In the dimly lit room, the faint moonlight filtering through the window outlined the massive figure of the basilisk.

Light squinted his eyes. With the meager light, he saw the basilisk stretching its head and flickering its forked tongue, as if hunting for prey ahead.

Seeing this, Light couldn't help but feel a sense of relief.

Suddenly, the basilisk opened its huge mouth and lunged towards a dark corner.

"Pili Baozha!" Light immediately abandoned Sectumsempra, which couldn't deliver a fatal blow in one strike.

Squinting his eyes without aiming, the effect of his wand allowed the Spells to automatically track and accurately hit the basilisk that was lunging at its prey.

"Boom!" A thunderous explosion echoed as the blast deflected the basilisk's head.

The distorted snake's head wobbled slightly and then turned towards where Light was!

"It's not even hurt?" Light was briefly startled, and at the same time, he realized that the basilisk had seen through the Disillusionment Charm!

Forcing himself to suppress the habit of facing the enemy head - on, Light kept his head down but didn't stop casting Spells: "Sectumsempra!"

The Spells didn't have the expected effect. It merely severed the basilisk's venomous fangs.

Seemingly sensing the threat of death from the previous Spells, the basilisk let out a dull roar and lunged directly at Light.

"Damn it! I can't even use the auto - aim well without a clear sight!" Light cursed under his breath and quickly moved to the side to avoid the oncoming lunge.

Light squinted and saw that the place where he had just stood was now occupied by the huge snake.

In the darkness, the basilisk kept slithering around the room, constantly narrowing Light's space to dodge.

"Sectumsempra!"

Light waved his wand, and another invisible wave sliced towards the slithering basilisk.

Hearing no scream or feeling any sense of cutting through flesh, Light frowned. This snake was really good at dodging.

At this moment, Light suddenly heard the sound of scales rubbing against each other. A sense of unease welled up in his heart. He squinted and looked towards where the basilisk was.

He found that the snake had arched its body, ready to pounce on its prey, and its head was aimed right at the direction where he was about to move!

Seeing this, Light was startled. He abruptly stopped in his tracks and forced himself to halt his steps.

Meanwhile, countless thoughts flashed through his mind: "Well, there's no other way. You're asking for it. Summon Fiendfyre curse!"

Countless fierce flames gushed out from Light's wand, forming a curtain of fire to protect him.

The basilisk, which was about to pounce, instantly stopped its movement. It seemed to be well aware of the power of the Fiendfyre curse.

Light squinted at the basilisk, which looked like it had encountered its natural enemy. It kept roaring, as if defying the Fiendfyre curse!

Light waved his wand, and the protective Fiendfyre curse transformed into a huge Fiendfyre Curse Lion. The continuous stream of Fiendfyre curse from the wand made the already large Fiendfyre Curse Lion even bigger.

As the Fiendfyre Curse Lion kept growing, the basilisk's roars became even louder.

'It must be a one - shot kill. Otherwise, it'll be extremely dangerous if this gigantic creature thrashes around with the Fiendfyre curse.'

Light, who was facing off against the basilisk, made a decision right away after a moment of thought.

Guided by his wand, the Fiendfyre Curse Lion pounced on the basilisk. Unable to hold back its wild nature, the basilisk also lunged at the Fiendfyre Curse Lion, which was similar in size to itself.

The moment they made contact, the Fiendfyre curse instantly wrapped around the basilisk. Immediately, shrill roars echoed throughout the room.

The Fiendfyre Curse Lion seemed to have a physical form. Its front paws pinned the basilisk down while it continuously bit the huge serpent.

With each bite of the Fiendfyre Curse Lion, the Fiendfyre curse was left behind, continuing to burn the basilisk's body.

Just when Light thought the matter was settled, an orange-yellow light shot out from the doorway and turned into a net of light, enveloping both the Fiendfyre Curse Lion and the basilisk.

Light didn't care about the Fiendfyre curse on the basilisk that was gradually going out. He immediately raised his wand and aimed it at the doorway, shouting, "Sectumsempra!"

Seeing the sliced door, Light knew that Sectumsempra had been deflected! Just as he was about to cast another spell for an attack.

At this time, a strange roar came from the doorway. The basilisk, which was on the verge of death from the fire, suddenly moved.

"Parseltongue!"

Hearing this eerie tone, Light's pupils constricted. He instantly turned around, lowered his head, and squinted his eyes.

At the same time, the Fiendfyre curse emerged again to protect him as he guarded against the basilisk and the Attack hiding in the dark.

After a long while, Light, protected by the Fiendfyre curse, didn't suffer any attacks. So he squinted and looked at the place where the basilisk had been.

He found that the basilisk had disappeared from the spot. So Light carefully searched the room for its figure.

Not feeling at ease, Light controlled the Fiendfyre curse to search the room. The Fiendfyre curse was controlled to form a net of fire that covered the entire room, not even sparing the doorway.

After a careful search, Light really didn't find any trace of the enemy. Still not at ease, he remained protected by the Fiendfyre curse.

He headed towards the place where the basilisk was about to devour its prey when he first entered the room.

Light slowly approached and found a man in a gorgeous robe lying on the ground, with his pants still wet.

"Lockhart?!" Looking at the man lying on the ground, Light frowned tightly, his face looking ugly.

"Damn it! If I'd known it was you, I wouldn't have bothered coming. But how did he end up here?"

"Could it be that the two people corrupted by the Horcruxes had agreed to fight each other?"

Looking at the man lying on the ground, Light was completely puzzled.

While Light was deep in thought, he saw Lockhart's eyelids twitch. He knew that this guy was about to wake up.

Light's eyes brightened. He used the Fiendfyre curse to hide his figure and turned into a giant over two or three meters tall.

"Where am I?" Lockhart covered his head and groaned as he got up from the ground. Without even looking around clearly, he felt a chill in his crotch.

Before he could react, a hoarse voice came: "It's so late. What are you doing here?"

Looking in the direction of the voice, just as Lockhart was about to brag, he saw that the speaker was a two - or three - meter - tall flaming humanoid creature.

Looking at this obvious bad guy in front of him, Lockhart's legs couldn't help but tremble.

The other party seemed impatient. His voice turned gruff: "Don't want to talk? I'm also quite proficient in the Cruciatus Curse!"

Hearing the words 'Cruciatus Curse', Lockhart trembled and frantically explained.

"I know nothing. I don't know why I'm here. Someone must be trying to frame me..."

Light, who was hidden in the Fiendfyre curse, sifted through Lockhart's memories and found that he really knew nothing.

It turned out that part of his memory from tonight had been erased!

Knowing this guy was useless, Light ignored the still babbling Lockhart without bothering to waste time chatting with him.

Light directly cast the Disillusionment Charm on himself. After extinguishing the Fiendfyre curse, he left the room, leaving Lockhart there still blabbering on.
