Chapter 98 - Chapter 98: Horcruxes - The Diadem of Ravenclaw

Light passed through the quiet Gryffindor common room and returned to his dormitory, exhausted. Lying in bed, his heart was filled with anxiety and unease.

Light tossed and turned in bed and couldn't fall asleep at all. The events that had occurred in the previous room kept replaying in his mind.

The sudden appearance of the basilisk was different from the original plot, and there was an unknown figure pulling the strings behind the scenes. All of this gave Light a huge headache.

Although his body was very tired, his brain couldn't stop. He was thinking about what he should do next.

Thinking of this, Light couldn't help but let out a self - deprecating laugh. "Just because one thing has gone out of control, I'm acting like a headless chicken."

"I really don't know how Old Dumbledore managed to keep going in the thick fog of war!"

"Maybe, I really should do some good Research on the Horcruxes!"

Gradually, Light's thoughts began to relax. His eyes finally couldn't help but close, and under the influence of exhaustion, he slowly drifted off to sleep.

Early the next morning, after waking up, Light stretched comfortably. But then, the anxiety in his heart affected him, and he instantly felt terrible!

After thinking for a long time, Light finally decided to go to the Room of Requirement to retrieve the Horcrux, the Diadem of Ravenclaw.

He wanted to carefully Research it to see if he could make a Horcrux tracker.

After classes, Light smoothly made his way to the Room of Requirement and asked for a storage room.

When Light pushed open the door, he was stunned by what he saw.

Countless sundries were piled together randomly, looking like huge and continuous mountain ranges.

Light couldn't help but swallow hard, suppressing the thought of retreating. He stepped towards the location where he remembered the Horcrux was.

He still remembered that the Diadem of Ravenclaw was placed next to an old, rusty bust of a wizard, which was full of rust.

Even though Light knew this information, it was still very difficult to quickly find the Horcrux in this pile of sundries.

These days, besides attending classes, Light was either looking for the Horcrux or visiting Hagrid.

Or he would go to Hagrid's place to visit the Boggarts that were pregnant with new lives. It was a pity that two out of the four Boggarts failed to give birth.

After searching many times, Light finally found what he was looking for just before he was about to give up.

Wearing gloves that blocked the influence of Spells, Light picked up a rusty diadem.

It was very special. He wondered if it was because it had been influenced by the diary.

The moment Light saw the diadem, he was sure that this was the item he was looking for.

Holding the rusty diadem, Light couldn't help but sigh. Voldemort really knew how to hide things. He'd really got the knack of hiding a tree in the forest (meaning hiding something in plain sight effectively).

At the same time, he also keenly felt the magical disguise on the diadem. Light pointed his wand at it and cast Cancel Charm to break the disguise.

As the light of the Spell flashed, the rust on the Diadem of Ravenclaw fell off, and it became extremely magnificent.

The whole diadem was like a magical raven spreading its wings, inlaid with several sapphires, and the silver - white metal emitted a bright light.

Taking a closer look at the diadem, one could see the motto representing Ravenclaw engraved on it:

"Exceptional wisdom is humanity's greatest treasure!"

Perhaps because the disguise was lifted, the Horcruxes automatically emitted a dark aura.

Meanwhile, a flood of murmurs and distracting thoughts emerged in Light's mind, constantly tempting the holder to put on the diadem and obtain wisdom beyond that of ordinary mortals.

Fully armed, Light wasn't afraid of being controlled by these Dark Magic Spells at all.

Light placed the diadem in his hand into a wooden box, which he had specially prepared for Horcruxes.

Once bitten, twice shy. This box could not only isolate all external connections but also automatically break the control of any Spirit - related Spells.

When the lid of the box was closed, the whispers that had been haunting Light instantly disappeared.

Carrying the box with the Horcruxes in his hand, Light walked out of the door and made another wish.

After wishing for a safe laboratory for Research on Horcruxes, he pushed the door open and entered again.

The room had become cramped, but every corner was engraved with complex magical scripts that repelled and suppressed the power of Dark Magic.

Seeing this, Light didn't relax. Instead, he carefully put on all kinds of protective equipment before opening the box with the Horcruxes.

Sure enough, on the workbench, the power of the Horcruxes was suppressed to the limit, and there were no distracting thoughts or murmurs.

Seeing that the influence of the Horcruxes had disappeared, Light picked up his tools and began to test the characteristics of the Horcruxes.

In the past few days, Light had come here to Research on Horcruxes whenever he was free and had achieved some results.

First of all, the ritual for making a Horcrux required sacrificing a person. This was not simply killing someone.

Rather, one had to torture the person being sacrificed in extremely cruel ways, push their spirit to the limit, and make them produce extremely extreme emotions.

Then, use cruel Dark Magic to drain the sacrificed person of everything. Only then could one create a Magic Power source that could nourish and maintain the existence of the spirit.

At the same time, Light also discovered a very interesting characteristic. As long as the main body of the Horcrux remained intact, the other Horcruxes would remain inactive.

Similarly, only one Horcrux would be activated each time.

Moreover, based on his Research and calculations, the life resurrected using a Horcrux was not complete.

This incompleteness was very strange, as if something very important was missing.

What was missing was not Magic Power or life force but a more profound and elusive power.

After recording all his research findings, he also found that during his research, he unknowingly learned the Dark Magic of extracting life force.

Feeling that he had become tainted, Light specifically cast Expecto Patronum to make sure he wasn't affected.

After putting the studied Horcrux back into the box and carefully checking to confirm there were no loopholes, Light heaved a sigh of relief.

However, his prediction had failed! The "Horcrux Radar" was a complete failure.

There wasn't much of a connection between inactive Horcruxes. After all, they had to guard against people like him who were seeking revenge.

After putting away his notes and hiding the box with the Horcrux, Light left the Room of Requirement and headed towards the dormitory.

As soon as Light returned to the Gryffindor common room, an owl used the Accio spell and flew in through its dedicated passage.

The owl hovered in front of Light, cooing non-stop as if it was in a hurry.

Light looked up at the owl and deftly took the letter, then opened it and began to read.

"Light, are you free? The Boggart is going to give birth! A brand - new life is about to appear in this world!"

"If you're available, I hope you can also witness this great miracle."

After quickly skimming the letter, Light couldn't hide his ecstatic expression.

Without bothering to reply, he sent the owl off and then dashed straight to Hagrid's hut.
