Chapter 101 - Chapter 101: Apparition

During the Potions class, Professor Snape strode purposefully up to the blackboard and began to explain the knowledge of potions in a low and serious voice.

"The Swelling Potion can quickly cause obvious swelling at the point of contact."

"But it can also make objects grow and expand, and it is also commonly used for the repair of severed limbs."

"Making it is not easy. It requires high blending skills."

Professor Snape looked at a student daydreaming below the podium and issued a severe warning:

"I emphasize again that any kind of disrespect for potions is unacceptable."

After seeing the daydreaming student come back to his senses, Professor Snape continued his lecture:

"The Swelling Potion is mainly composed of three ingredients: dried nettles, bat spleens, and pufferfish eyes."

After introducing the materials of the potion, Professor Snape began to explain the blending process and precautions.

In class, Professor Snape, as usual, scolded Harry Potter harshly. Then he gave an excellent grade to the potion blended by Light with a straight face.

Looking at Professor Snape who continued to pick on Harry Potter, Light had an idea in his mind: "Isn't the teacher who can teach me Apparition right in front of me?"

With this thought in mind, Light immediately took action and wrote a small note: "I have some questions to ask you at seven o'clock tonight!"

When Professor Snape was patrolling the classroom, Light quietly stuffed the note into his hand.

Seeing the note that Light had stuffed over, Professor Snape frowned slightly, but instead of throwing it away directly, he put it away.

At night, under the dim yellow light, Light carried a box and walked along the castle corridor to Professor Snape's office!

After knocking on the door to indicate his arrival, Light directly pushed the door open and entered.

Professor Snape, sitting behind the desk, was correcting homework. After hearing the sound of the door being pushed open, he didn't even lift his head and directly asked:

"Alright! What the hell do you want from me? And, have you finished using my stuff?"

"I've finished using it! I've brought it here too."

Light lifted the thing in his hand and then placed the box that could speed up fermentation on the nearby shelf.

Professor Snape didn't say anything and continued to correct the homework. Seeing this, Light couldn't help but curiously ask:

"Professor, aren't our classes all hands-on practice? Why do you still need to correct homework!"

After a moment of silence, Professor Snape slowly said, "Fifth-year students have to take the O.W.L.s exams. This is the theoretical part! It's still too early for you now."

"So, what on earth do you want from me!" Maybe he was too busy or didn't like beating around the bush. Professor Snape's tone was clearly not right.

Seeing how busy Professor Snape was, Light hesitantly said, "Professor, I want to learn Apparition!"

"Want to learn Apparition? It's not time for you yet!"

Professor Snape, who was correcting homework, looked up at Light and instinctively wanted to refuse.

The Apparition Spells is quite challenging. One needs a good mental state and sufficient control to master it.

So, in the wizarding world, only students over seventeen years old usually start learning it with the help of a teacher.

"Professor, I really hope to learn this Spells!"

Professor Snape couldn't make up his mind for a moment. After pondering for a moment, he said, "I can teach you, but you have to tell me why you want to learn it!"

Light gave the reason he had prepared long ago, "I need it to get something!"

After giving this vague reason, Light could see a look of annoyance on his otherwise expressionless face.

Professor Snape gently tapped the table with his left hand. After thinking for a bit, he finally agreed.

Light wasn't surprised by Professor Snape's consent. After all, Old Dumbledore quite 'trusted' him.

After Professor Snape finished marking the homework, Light directly took him to the Room of Requirement.

After wishing for a practice room where he could freely practice Apparition, Light was the first to push the door open and enter!

What he saw was an extremely empty space. Just by looking, you could tell it was perfect for practicing Spells.

Professor Snape, who came in behind, didn't say a word. Instead, his form blurred and he instantly appeared in the middle of the space!

Standing in the middle of the space, Professor Snape called out seriously to Light, "Come here quickly!"

"Do you know the Spells for Apparition?" When Light ran up to Professor Snape and stopped, he heard the professor's question.

"Yes! I've specifically studied it. I'm just worried about being split apart when using it..."

After listening to Light's understanding of this Spells, Professor Snape nodded and began to teach Light.

"You know the principle of this Spells, so it's simple!" Professor Snape took out his wand and said to Light:

"This Spells isn't really about skills. It requires more of a firm determination!"

"Think of the place you want to go and use that thought to channel the Magic Power in your body, and recite the Spells."

"Make sure you remember the place you want to go. That's the key to Apparition!"

After saying the key point, Professor Snape seriously warned Light, "Concentrate. This Spells requires concentration!"

"Once you get distracted, you'll easily be split apart, bits and pieces everywhere."

"If there's no wizard skilled in Apparition to help, you'll be a goner."

After giving Light a scare, Professor Snape raised his wand and waved it repeatedly, blasting a hole in the ground.

"Remember it and then go there!"

Light looked at the blasted hole. After making sure he remembered it, he began to recite the Spells.

"Apparition!"

As Light uttered the Spells, he instantly felt as though something was sucking him in.

The surrounding space compressed, making it hard for him to move. This feeling disappeared soon after.

"Did it work?"

Light looked at the hole and realized he hadn't moved an inch! He couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.

"Looks like you've got the feeling. When you're in that compressed state, that's when you're Apparitioning!"

"Try two more times and remember that sensation. Then I'll guide you through the next step!"

Seeing Light fail, Professor Snape wasn't surprised or too worried. Instead, he told him to cast the Spells again.

After Light remembered the feeling of being squeezed, Professor Snape directly put his hand on his shoulder and instructed, "Remember this feeling!"

After saying that, he paused briefly until Light was ready. Then he took Light and performed Apparition.

This time, Light didn't feel the sense of squeeze. Instead, he felt a floating sense of emptiness, as if there was no place to stand.

After Professor Snape took Light to perform Apparition several times, he stood aside and let Light practice on his own.

After several attempts, Light finally overcame the sense of squeeze, but he got stuck in the sense of emptiness.

After another dozen or so successive attempts, he barely grasped the feeling and began to overcome the ethereal sense of emptiness!

After grasping this feeling, he practiced numerous more times.

After getting rid of the spatial squeeze and constantly keeping the destination in mind, Light's firm belief drove the Flow of Magic Power throughout his body.

He soon felt as if he had broken through something. With a stagger of his steps, he found himself at his destination.
