Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: The Feast of Mount Myoboku

Yamanaka Shinno mentally noted down the coordinates of his exclusive space marker, committing them to memory.

Feeling elated, he once again examined his personal system panel.

Spatial Awareness!

Once he fully mastered the Flying Thunder God Technique, he would be unstoppable—able to advance or retreat at will, attack or flee, cover for allies, and break through enemy lines. His survival abilities would skyrocket!

Why should he even worry about the Third Shinobi World War?

"If I could get another copy chance and acquire 'Ultra-Fast Reflexes' as well, that would be perfect."

Still unsatisfied, Yamanaka Shinno muttered to himself. He glanced at the remaining entry draw and casually tapped to activate it.

[Congratulations, host! You have obtained the White Trait: 'Bro, You Smell So Good'.]

Bro, You Smell So Good (White): ♂ Upon obtaining this entry, attraction toward ♀ continuously decreases, while interest in male peers of the same age steadily rises. The effect intensifies the longer you interact with them, until… well… you get the idea.

…????

This damn system.

When it came to disappointment, it never failed to deliver.

Yamanaka Shinno's mouth twitched. One second, he had been fantasizing about acquiring 'Ultra-Fast Reflexes,' and the next? This?

This?!

Sure, he understood that white entries had the highest probability of appearing, but this wasn't just a matter of bad luck—it was straight-up mental damage!

"Shinno? Did you overexert your chakra?"

Namikaze Minato, who had been standing watch, noticed his friend's darkened expression and grew concerned. He quickly stepped away from the window and walked over.

"I'm fine. Here, I need you to get this intelligence scroll to the toads of Mount Myoboku."

Taking a deep breath, Yamanaka Shinno handed Minato the intelligence scroll, which, incidentally, contained a fair amount of extra 'content.'

While he had added personal touches, all the intelligence inside was real—extracted directly from the minds of enemy shinobi. He had merely… adjusted the focus in his reports.

"Got it. You should rest a bit, don't overwork yourself."

Minato accepted the scroll, still somewhat concerned. Then, he pulled out a small tube identical to Yamanaka Shinno's from his pouch.

Dipping a finger into the tube to coat it with blood, he activated the Summoning Jutsu.

There was no helping it—ever since Shinno had demonstrated this method, Minato had felt increasingly foolish every time he looked at the self-inflicted wounds on his fingertips that took days to heal.

After a few attempts, he had shamelessly asked Kushina to make him one of these special blood-storage tubes engraved with sealing formulas.

The seals on the tube helped preserve the blood's activity significantly. As long as it wasn't opened frequently, it could remain usable for up to a year.

Poof!

The summoning smoke cleared, revealing a small red toad wearing goggles. Though not large, this toad was one of Mount Myoboku's communication specialists.

"Yo! Good evening, Minato! Jiraiya is actually visiting Mount Myoboku right now. Fukasaku and Shima are preparing a feast! Want to join in?"

Toad Kosuke raised a hand in greeting.

"Hm? Where did Jiraiya-sensei get reverse-summoned from?"

Minato blinked in surprise and quickly asked.

"From Konoha. He went back yesterday but couldn't find you—he said he was disappointed."

Kosuke exaggeratedly mimicked Jiraiya's regretful expression.

"In that case, can you pass this scroll directly to Jiraiya-sensei? Let him know…"

Minato's face brightened with a smile.

But if Jiraiya had been reverse-summoned from Konoha to Mount Myoboku, then dismissing the reverse-summoning would send him back instantly.

Forget an hour—it wouldn't even take a minute.

"Minato, you should just go to Mount Myoboku yourself. Have Jiraiya-sensei deliver this to the decryption unit, and while you're there, transfer these two prisoners back to Konoha via the toads."

Yamanaka Shinno pulled out a scroll containing the sealed heads of two Kirigakure shinobi and shoved it into Minato's arms.

"Uh… actually…"

Minato thought about Fukasaku and Shima's 'feast,' and his face paled slightly.

But then he glanced at the two heavily injured prisoners.

Shinno had already extracted part of their memories, but given more time, Konoha could glean even more valuable intelligence from them.

If they didn't transfer the prisoners through Mount Myoboku, the only other option for maintaining secrecy was… eliminating them.

What a waste that would be.

"I get it. You've been looking forward to the feast at Mount Myoboku for a long time. Hurry up and go—I'll be fine here alone!"

Shinno gave Minato a thumbs-up, grinning like Might Guy.

That overly enthusiastic, sunshine-filled smile almost made Minato break down on the spot.

Too cruel!

Too cruel!

Shinno knew full well Minato couldn't complain about Mount Myoboku's 'cuisine' in front of the toads.

But Minato really didn't want to eat bugs!

Those were BUGS!

"Oh! So little Minato's been looking forward to this feast? I'll go tell Lady Shima right away~"

Kosuke, delighted, vanished in a puff of smoke before Minato could even react.

"Wait—"

Minato stood frozen, his hand raised mid-gesture.

Did… did he say that?

No! He didn't!

"Hold onto these. And enjoy the feast."

Shinno waved with a mischievous grin, eyes full of amusement.

"I… ah… fine…"

Minato sighed deeply, helpless against his wicked friend.

Summoning his massive toad companion, Gamachu, he had it swallow the two prisoners before dismissing the summoning, sending them to Mount Myoboku.

Just as he was about to say something more, the pull of reverse summoning activated.

With a bitter expression, Minato took several deep breaths, consoled himself with the fact that Jiraiya would be suffering alongside him, and grudgingly accepted the summoning.

Poof!

Watching Minato vanish, Yamanaka Shinno grinned and immediately began testing his Flying Thunder God Technique.

Following the instructions from the scroll, he closed his eyes, connected with the spatial energy, and guided his chakra into alignment.

A moment later, he pressed a hand against the outer wall of a teacup.

A circular marking with two clockwise arrows appeared on its surface—his personal space marker.

Compared to Minato's, his spatial awareness was several times clearer.
