Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Tastes Like Chicken, Nice and Crunchy~

After engraving his Flying Thunder God seal onto two teacups, Shinno formed a seal with both hands, maintaining precise sensory control over the spatial markers as he attempted to perform the Flying Thunder God Technique.

By channeling chakra through a specific meridian pathway and utilizing the assistance of his personal Flying Thunder God markings—combined with his natural talent in ninjutsu, the bonus from his "Call It Out" trait enhancing his chakra control, and the "Spatial Awareness" trait granting high compatibility with space-time ninjutsu—Shinno managed to succeed after only a few failed attempts.

His first spatial jump was complete.

"It's like stepping through one door and out another. Space-jumping is actually this simple...? Senju Tobirama was a damn genius!"

Shinno couldn't help but admire the sheer brilliance of the Flying Thunder God's creator, the Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama. The fact that Tobirama had developed such a technique in his youth and even used it to kill Uchiha Izuna, who wielded the Mangekyō Sharingan, was nothing short of extraordinary.

Not to mention, Tobirama had left behind hundreds of forbidden jutsu in Konoha.

Had he not died so early, his achievements might have far surpassed even those of Hashirama.

Jumping between his two spatial markers again and again, Shinno quickly familiarized himself with the sensation of teleporting through space.

What initially took him several seconds to prepare and execute was now taking significantly less time after just a few dozen attempts.

However...

The chakra consumption was brutal!

Shinno felt his chakra draining like a floodgate had been opened. It was overwhelming.

In terms of jutsu rank, the Flying Thunder God Technique wasn't particularly costly. A single short-range teleport within ten meters used up only slightly more chakra than a C-rank Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique.

But the problem was—who the hell only teleports once in battle?

(Senju Tobirama: I'm in the Pure Land, don't drag me into this.)

Take Pakura's recent fight against twenty Mist shinobi, for example. Throwing out ten or twenty Flying Thunder God kunai at once—who could guarantee that every kunai would land near an enemy?

In battle, teleporting wasn't just about attacking. It was also about dodging enemy strikes and repositioning kunai for future use.

Even in the most ideal scenario—where every enemy was instantly killed upon close-range teleportation—one would still need at least thirty teleports per battle.

Firing off thirty C-rank Great Fireball Techniques in quick succession? Even an average jōnin would run out of chakra in minutes.

Even Shinno was struggling with the drain.

And this was despite his red-tier "Transmigrator" trait, which granted him mental strength several times that of a normal jōnin, and his rigorous physical training that placed his stamina above the average jōnin.

His chakra reserves weren't as absurd as Minato's, who had an innate chakra growth trait, but they were still about three times the jōnin average.

In the original story, Kakashi's chakra—after being drained by his Sharingan—was considered slightly below average for a jōnin.

In other words, Shinno had roughly 3 to 3.5 times Kakashi's usable chakra.

"Energy reserves and reaction speed..."

Shinno rubbed his chin. To fully utilize the Flying Thunder God Technique, he probably needed two more traits.

A massive chakra reserve would increase the technique's sustainability and margin for error, while an ultra-fast reaction speed would push its limits even further.

Ninja battles were fast-paced. The slightest opening could be exploited in an instant.

If he had ultra-speed reflexes, he could capitalize on those fleeting weaknesses, drastically reducing the number of teleports needed while also minimizing the risk of getting countered.

"Energy reserves aren't a priority—it's just a blue-tier trait. I can replace it with a better one later."

"But ultra-speed reflexes... I have to get that one."

"Without it, I'd be like Kakashi using Chidori without a Sharingan—flashing around aimlessly."

"Damn... No wonder Tobirama didn't fight like Minato, chaining together insane Flying Thunder God combos. Turns out, he couldn't react fast enough either."

As Shinno analyzed his situation, he continued practicing the Flying Thunder God Technique.

Only when he had used up half his chakra did he finally stop, dealing with the two teacups that bore his Flying Thunder God markings.

Until he could use the technique proficiently in actual combat, he had no intention of revealing it.

After all, ninjutsu existed to kill enemies.

Showing off prematurely would only alert his foes.

Besides, his mastery of Yin Release already made him nearly unstoppable against anyone below Kage level.

If he had been in Pakura's situation today, he could've wiped out over half the enemies in a single exchange with the sheer unpredictability of Yin Release.

A bit more effort, and he could have completely annihilated them without a scratch.

No need to wait for reinforcements, and certainly no need to be battered and bruised in the process.

After all, whether it was the Yamanaka Clan's high-level secret techniques or various genjutsu—

They were perfect for crushing weaker opponents!

...

Boom—

A surge of intense spatial energy erupted from the spot where Minato had teleported away.

In the next moment, a thick cloud of chakra smoke exploded in the room.

Minato stumbled back into the house, his face pale as if he had been exposed to some unspeakable horror. He gripped the wall with one hand and clutched his stomach with the other, clearly in agony.

"You... it's not that bad, is it?" Shinno blinked, his teasing tone fading when he saw his friend's expression.

"Red, green, purple, pink... long ones, oval ones... urgh—!"

Minato barely got the words out before the mental image of Mount Myōboku's "delicacies" flooded his mind, and he nearly threw up on the spot.

"How about thinking of something positive? Hmm... insect protein is six times higher than beef. And hey, it tastes like chicken—nice and crunchy!"

"Shinno—! Urgh—! You know what that stuff is! Urgh—!"

"Hey, you're the one who fell for Jiraiya's nonsense and signed the contract with Mount Myōboku. You can't back out now. Might as well embrace it."

"You—urgh—!"

Halfway through his sentence, Minato bolted to the bathroom.

The sound of violent retching echoed through the house before he finally staggered back to the living room, utterly drained.

"Alright, alright, since you're done emptying your stomach, let's figure out dinner. I haven't eaten yet."

"Are you the devil?"

Minato's face twisted in disbelief.

He honestly couldn't understand what had been going through his mind all those years ago when he decided that this guy was a good person and actively befriended him.

Over the years, thanks to Shinno, he had suffered so many disasters...

Waaah...
