Chapter 15: The Safe House
Ethan quickly pulled Roman into the mansion, his eyes scanning the surrounding area for any signs of danger. As soon as they were inside, he locked the door behind them, his mind racing with plans to keep Roman safe.
"I'm going to get you to a safe house," Ethan said, his voice firm. "You'll be protected there."
Roman nodded, his eyes wide with fear. "Okay," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Ethan quickly made a call, arranging for a team to escort Roman to the safe house. As they waited, Ethan kept a close eye on Roman, his heart aching with worry.
But as they waited, Ethan's mind was already racing with plans. He would find out who was behind this, and he would make them pay.
Finally, the team arrived, and Ethan handed Roman over to them. "Keep him safe," Ethan ordered, his eyes locked on the team leader.
The team leader nodded, his expression serious. "We will, Hawk."
As Ethan watched Roman being escorted away, he felt a pang of sadness. He didn't want to let Roman out of his sight, but he knew it was necessary.
But as he turned to head back to his office, Ethan's phone buzzed. It was a text from an unknown number.
"You'll never be able to protect Roman," the message read. "We'll always be one step ahead."
Ethan's anger boiled over. He quickly typed out a response, his fingers flying across the keyboard. "You're wrong," he wrote. "I'll always be one step ahead of you."
But as he waited for a response, Ethan's mind was already racing with plans. He would find out who was behind this, and he would make them pay.
Just then, his phone buzzed again. "You're a foolish man, Hawk," the message read. "You think you can protect Roman from us? We'll show you what we're capable of."
Ethan's eyes narrowed. He knew that he had to take action, and fast. He quickly made a call, assembling a team to take down the threats.
As he waited for the team to arrive, Ethan's mind was already racing with plans. He would find out who was behind this, and he would make them pay.
But as he stood there, waiting for the team to arrive, Ethan couldn't shake the feeling that he was missing something. Something big.
And then, just as the team arrived, Ethan's phone buzzed again. "Look outside," the message read.
Ethan's heart sank as he looked outside. Roman was standing there, his eyes wide with fear.
"What are you doing here?" Ethan demanded, rushing outside to Roman's side.
Roman's eyes locked onto Ethan's. "I didn't want to be alone," he said, his voice trembling.
Ethan's heart melted. He quickly pulled Roman into his arms, holding him tight.
"I'm here," Ethan whispered into Roman's ear. "I'll always be here to protect you."
But as he held Roman, Ethan knew that this was far from over. Whoever was behind this was still out there, waiting for their next move.
And Ethan was determined to find out who they were, and put a stop to it once and for all.
