"Your accommodation has been allocated. It's right next to the training ground over there." The Marine at the reception desk pointed toward the location and handed Carl a set of keys.
"Over there?" Carl nodded, taking the keys before heading toward the designated area.
The building was located next to Marineford's central training ground, an area frequently used by Marines of various ranks for physical conditioning and combat practice. The Elite Recruit Training Program, run under instructors like Zephyr, also used this space for drills.
As an officer directly under Admiral Kizaru, Carl was granted a private residence—a two-story lodging usually reserved for Vice Admirals or officers of notable merit.
"Kizaru's Admiral status really does come in handy," Carl muttered, puffing on a cigar as he approached the training area.
At that moment, the training ground was filled with Marine recruits engaged in Rokushiki (Six Powers) training.
Carl observed their movements, muttering, "As expected. Since they've already made it to Marine Headquarters, it makes sense for them to learn Rokushiki."
Among the techniques, the one Carl wanted to master most was Geppō (Moonwalk).
Currently, every time he wanted to move through the air, he had to activate Senbonzakura's End Scene: White Emperor Sword, consuming a significant amount of stamina.
Even though his stamina was beyond most top-tier Marines, if he were ever forced into a prolonged fight against someone like Kaido or Big Mom, excessive energy consumption could become a liability.
"With Geppō, I can maneuver freely without burning unnecessary stamina," Carl reasoned.
Suddenly, something clicked in his mind.
"Wait… System, are you there?"
[Ding! Yes, the system is at your service.]
Carl smirked and asked, "Since I'm at Marineford, isn't there a check-in reward?"
[Notification: Marineford is classified as a Special Check-In Location. A full check-in requires three days. Current progress: 0/3.]
"A Special Check-In Location?" Carl frowned. "Does that mean the rewards are different? Also, which places count as special locations?"
[Special Check-In Locations: Key locations that influence world events. Signing in at these places grants rarer rewards compared to standard locations.]
[Confirmed Special Check-In Locations: Enies Lobby, Impel Down, Sabaody Archipelago, Marineford, Mariejois, Fish-Man Island, Ohara, Amazon Lily, Wano Country, Whole Cake Island, etc.]
Carl raised an eyebrow. "That's quite a list…"
But then he noticed something odd about some of the locations.
"Ohara? That place was completely destroyed by a Buster Call two decades ago… How is that still a check-in spot?"
Mariejois was the World Nobles' sacred land—a place where even Admirals had to tread carefully.
Wano and Whole Cake Island? Those were Emperor-controlled territories, where even Marines thought twice before stepping foot.
"…Yeah, screw that. I'll stick to safer locations," Carl muttered, shaking his head.
Still, he was curious to see what kind of rewards a Special Check-In could provide.
After dropping off his cigars in his new quarters, Carl stepped back out onto the training grounds.
The Rokushiki techniques were exclusive to Marine elites and the Cipher Pol organizations under the World Government.
Strength in Rokushiki users was measured by Doriki—a combat power rating system developed in CP9.
For reference:
• A normal Marine soldier had a Doriki of around 10.
• The average CP9 agent had Doriki ranging between 400 and 2200.
• Rob Lucci, the strongest CP9 member, had a staggering 4000 Doriki, making him a beast among humans.
Carl scanned the training field. "They're just doing standard conditioning. If I want to learn Rokushiki, I need to join an elite program…"
But there was one problem—Carl had no interest in Marineford's Elite Officer Training.
That program was originally overseen by Zephyr, the former Admiral-turned-instructor. However, Zephyr had already begun his anti-pirate crusades, leaving the training curriculum in a state of decline.
Carl wasn't willing to waste time in a half-hearted class.
Instead, he considered another option…
A certain legendary Marine veteran who specialized in breaking rookies into shape.
Having made his decision, Carl vanished in a blur of speed, activating his Observation Haki to sweep across Marineford.
In an instant, every notable presence within the base became clear to him.
Near the Fleet Admiral's office, two powerful auras stood out—one belonging to Sengoku the Buddha, and the other unmistakably Kizaru.
Meanwhile, in a secluded training field, Carl sensed an overwhelming force, alongside two significantly weaker presences.
"That's definitely Garp," Carl smirked before dashing toward the location.
Marineford - Remote Training Ground
Garp stood with his arms crossed, observing the two young recruits in front of him.
Kirby and Helmeppo, both new Marine cadets, were drenched in sweat as they struggled to keep up with Garp's brutal physical regimen.
Suddenly, Garp's sharp eyes flicked to the side, sensing an approaching force.
A split second later, Carl appeared out of nowhere.
"Old man Garp!"
Garp's eyebrows twitched. "Oh? Carl? What brings you here?"
Carl's expression darkened. "Why don't you tell me?"
Garp blinked innocently. "What are you talking about?"
"Don't play dumb!" Carl snapped. "Kizaru already told me everything!"
"Damn it, that bastard Polsalino!" Garp clenched his fists. "He ratted me out?!"
Carl sighed. "You sold me out first, old man."
As the two bickered, Kirby and Helmeppo stared in shock.
"Wait… you're Solomon Carl, the Ensign from East Blue?!" Kirby blurted out.
Carl turned to the pink-haired recruit. "Oh, you're Kirby."
"And that means…" He shifted his gaze to the nervous blond beside him. "Helmeppo, huh?"
Helmeppo gulped, visibly uneasy.
Carl's sword had taken his father's arm back in Shells Town. The memory still haunted him.
Ignoring the tension, Carl casually waved at them before turning back to Garp.
"Now then, old man Garp… how do you plan to compensate me?"
Garp blinked. "Huh? Compensate for what?!"
Carl scoffed. "I upheld my side of the deal. I never actively went after your grandson, and even when I met him in East Blue, I didn't lay a hand on him."
"So don't you think I deserve some compensation?"
Garp sighed dramatically, rubbing his temples. "Fine, fine… What do you want?"
"I'm warning you in advance—I'm broke," Garp added quickly.
Carl's mouth twitched. "Everyone already knows you're broke."
Even Sengoku complained about Garp stealing his rice crackers.
"No worries," Carl smirked. "I don't need money. Just teach me Rokushiki."
Garp's eyes widened. "Hoh? You want to learn all of the Six Powers?"
Normally, a Marine struggled to master even one Rokushiki technique.
But Carl was already absurdly powerful.
So instead of asking which technique Carl wanted, Garp simply assumed he would learn everything.
Carl's smile widened—this was exactly the outcome he wanted.
