Chapter 9 - 9. Beyond Winning

When my friends were fighting over each other, I was at Kentha Hotel, where there was an event of my writing competitions. They interviewed us about our previous writing works. After the interviews, we all felt to have made it, and we had the same constant throbbing question in our heads—who could have won the interview? I was feeling nervous when I thought about it. Frankly, the interview was a tough one to me because the judges were not friendly. There was Mr. Kenneth who cornered me by a million questions in a short period. He was harsh—I couldn't even breathe between his questions. However, I handled it well, and the crowd fell in love with me.

After the interview in the evening, I was sitting alone, continuously tapping the floor with my shoes, wishing to escape the auditorium. It was noisy inside as people loudly chatted, and I didn't like crowds. Before I could go to my hotel room, a few people came to my table, and that forced me to give them my attention. They started chatting with me and asked questions about my responses during the interview that they said were too professional. I blended into their spirits and welcomed them as the chats grew. My competitors became envy of me when they saw the crowd getting attracted to me. After a few minutes, we were told that the results were soon going to be out as soon as the judges finished their discussions. I was not settled, waiting for the results. I excused people around me and headed to the restrooms.

In the corridors leading to restrooms, a surprise struck me when I saw Ms. Gunday with Mr. Kenneth. She looked tensed and shouting beneath the whisper. Mr. Kenneth was busy trying to hold her shoulders, but she was pushing his hands away. I stood in hide watching her walking away, leaving Mr. Kenneth with a grin smile on his face. After a few seconds, he also walked his way. I wondered what could've made Ms. Gunday to behave that way with one of my judges. It seemed they knew each other. Because of that, I felt my jar of jealous getting full.

My phone vibrated. Ms. Gunday was calling me. I didn't receive her call, so she sent a text message telling me it was time for me to pack because we were going to wake up earlier in the morning, which was going to follow. She wanted us to leave the Kentha hotel as soon as the event was going to end. After reading her text message, I went straight to my hotel room.

In my room, I went straight to the bathroom and took a shower. Within a few minutes, I was done bathing. After dressing up, I jumped onto the bed and tried to keep myself busy with my phone while waiting to see the results of the interviews on the internet. Before I even concentrated, the notification of the news came. I jumped in happiness, feeling like I was beyond the sky—my name was top listed. I didn't think twice about running to Ms. Gunday's room. Her room was a door away from mine.

Without thinking, I pushed her door open and stumbled upon her coming from the bathing room. She reacted, securing the knot of her drape that had covered her body. I stood, looking at her. Ms. Gunday allowed her drape to fall down and told me to do whatever I wanted. She said it was a gift for me for being the best among other students. I looked at her eyes, scanned her body, and ran out of actions. She came closer to me and pushed me onto her bed. That night, I didn't sleep in my room. I spent the entire night with my writing tutor. In the morning, we attended the closing event. I received my certificate and trophy, along with some money. As soon as the event ended, Ms. Gunday and I headed back to Skyling College.
