The next day...
Naosu shouts: "Wake up!!!"
They help each other get up, and they all head to the training ground. Amidst the chatter and laughter, a tall man with gray hair and light blue eyes appears.
A trainee (Maru) shouts: "Stop, stop! It's Mr. Rayodan..."
Everyone lines up, and Rayodan stands before them.
Rayodan: "Welcome, trainees. I am Rayodan Pyarod Rali. Now you have reached the training where you can fight the powerful scorpions outside. The scorpions you saw in the previous training are like children compared to those outside."
Naosu: "Attention!! The Biarud Army has four techniques: Dismantling, Ignition, Explosion, and Healing. You will discover which one you belong to through a method you'll see now. But know this: some of you may be unlucky and not belong to any technique. Now, follow me..."
They follow Naosu and a group of fighters to a place where there's a pit in front of them. They don't know what's inside.
Naosu: "Now, each of you will jump in. When we see you come out from the other side, the next one will enter. So, who will start?"
Silence. No one steps forward to enter.
Naosu: "Cowards!! Fine, I'll choose then, you cowards..."
He points at Sumiko.
Naosu: "You, come here."
Sumiko steps forward and stands in front of him.
Naosu: "What's your name?"
Sumiko: "Sumiko Lainen, sir."
Naosu: "Remember, all of you, why you're here. Inside, feel as if you're protecting your family. Go ahead, Sumiko."
Sumiko jumps into the pit. A faint light barely allows him to see anything. He moves forward a little and sees a sword and an axe, with water beside them. He looks around, trying to figure out what to do, when suddenly... a Silamudor scorpion appears!
The scorpion: "Hello, little one... I'm Gan. What's your name?"
Sumiko steps back, feeling afraid.
Sumiko: "Stay away, or I'll tear you apart!"
Gan (laughing): "You?"
Sumiko remembers the weapons behind him. He runs toward them, but suddenly, complete darkness falls, and he can no longer see anything. He stumbles and falls to the ground.
The scorpion approaches him.
Gan: "What? Can't you see in the dark?"
It gets closer and wounds his leg. Sumiko tries to find the weapons somewhere. The scorpion kicks him in the stomach. Finally, Sumiko feels the weapons beside him and grabs the sword. He swings it toward the scorpion, whose glowing eyes are the only thing visible in the dark. He strikes the scorpion with the sword, but its stone-like skin is unaffected. The scorpion grabs Sumiko by the neck, lifts him off the ground, and almost chokes him.
Gan: "I feel sorry for you, weak coward. I'd feel like a fool if I ate such a weak heart."
Suddenly, the axe beside them lights up. Sumiko reaches for it, but it's too far. Then, suddenly, the glowing red axe moves from its place into Sumiko's hand. He stabs it into the scorpion's head from behind, and... 1... 2... 3... its head explodes, and it falls to the ground. Immediately, Sumiko stabs the axe into the scorpion's spinal cord, killing it, and it explodes again.
Sumiko laughs and shouts: "I did it... I did it!"
Two fighters appear out of nowhere, and one of them says:
Fighter: "Yes, you did it. Congratulations."
Sumiko: "Thank you."
Fighter: "You now possess the Explosion technique. As you saw, you'll master it later. This is the way out."
Sumiko: "Goodbye."
One by one, they take their turns until it's Rogan's turn.
Rogan enters, and just like Sumiko, he sees the weapons. He takes one of the swords and moves forward. Suddenly, a fat Silamudor scorpion appears. Rogan panics, feeling afraid because he can barely see. He attacks the scorpion with his sword, striking it, but to no avail. The sword bounces off.
The scorpion laughs loudly and mockingly, doing nothing.
Rogan continues to strike the scorpion with his sword, but it's useless.
The scorpion laughs at him hysterically, then suddenly stops laughing and plunges both of its claws into Rogan's shoulders.
The scorpion: "What do you think? You'll wipe out the scorpions? You'll destroy us? Do you think your army can affect Lord Silamudor Roga? You're still young. Outside this training, you'll see wonders. I was like you once, but I thank Lord Roga for this life. We'll kill you, your family, your friends, and everyone you love."
Rogan: "Shut up!!!"
The sword ignites with fire, and Rogan's eyes grow redder. He swings the sword toward the scorpion, cutting off its hand along with its claws. The scorpion retreats when it sees Rogan's form. Rogan cuts it into pieces, screaming with each strike.
The place lights up, and the two fighters appear. One of them claps for Rogan.
Fighter: "Very impressive. Congratulations, sir."
Rogan: "Thank you... Am I done?"
Fighter: "You've discovered your technique: Ignition. You'll continue your training and become stronger. Leave the sword here, and you may go."
Rogan exits and sees Sumiko and many other trainees deeply asleep on the ground.
Rogan: "What happened?"
1... 2... 3...
He can no longer stand and falls to the ground, fast asleep...
