Turning away from my victim, I placed my hand on the ground and cast Negative Energy Fields.
The negative energy swirled around my palm before rising and spreading. The two other men directly hit by the energy wave collapsed, their legs giving way under their weight. One of them, pointing his blade at me, mobilized his chakra.
However, his gesture lacked confidence. I could see dozens of openings, weaknesses in his defense.
He trembled, his necrotic legs causing him to stagger. "What are you?" he asked, his voice broken.
I had had enough of hearing that question.
The negative energy had already healed my wound. I stood up and fixed my cold gaze on him.
I slowly walked toward him.
The man already on the ground pleaded, "Don't come any closer."
I turned my attention to him, thinking about the faces I had seen through Jack the Ripper's eyes. Disgust flooded me. The more I looked at them, the less they seemed human.
"Kill them," I ordered mentally.
The bear, reacting to my command, struck the nearest man, sending him crashing against the wall with the force of a squashed tomato.
To my surprise, an arrow flew through the air, grazing my skin before embedding itself in the other man's forehead. I quickly turned to see the archer, now standing again, his wound already healed, pointing his crossbow at his former victim.
It reminded me of a description I had read once about the Death Knight: "The danger is all the greater because once a Death Knight kills its target, the corpse transforms into a zombie. In the New World, there exists a naturally spawned Death Knight who kills his enemies and turns them into undead ghouls."
A ghoul. That's what he had become. It affected me more than I wanted to admit, as it was the first time I had seen a human undead.
But I didn't dwell on it long. I turned my attention back to the others trying to flee.
The place was their base, and no one here was innocent. Their existence was no longer necessary. I focused on the life forces trying to hide, frightened by the bear's roar.
Picking up the sword of the man who had just died, I pointed it at the nearest life force.
"Kill them too."
As soon as the order left my mouth, another arrow, wrapped in negative energy, pierced a wall and snuffed out another life.
I looked away and made my way toward the basement, absorbing the negative energy to prevent it from reaching the "merchandise" below.
I approached the area where Jack the Ripper stood. As I neared, Naruto looked at me, his eyes widening in horror.
Surprised, I examined my reflection through Jack the Ripper's eyes.
I was covered in blood, my eyes glowing in the darkness.
I turned my attention back to Naruto. My face impassive, I asked him in a cold voice, "Are you afraid?"
He remained silent.
"Why did you leave?" I asked again.
Still no answer.
"It's okay, I understand... sleep."
At these words, all the prisoners, including Naruto, collapsed to the ground.
I made a tearing motion upwards. The hole I had created to enter widened. In one leap, I emerged, my eyes scanning the horizon. Only death reigned around me. The survivors were those who had managed to flee.
I cast one last look at the human corpses, thinking, "It would be a shame to waste this."
A few hours later, my undead birds, which I had created, signaled the approach of shinobi.
Through their eyes, I recognized one of them by his white hair and the other by his watermelon-shaped head.
"So this is who that old monkey sends me?"
There were only jonin in the squad. Facing them was out of the question. Not with Gai in the team.
I had chosen the first option for the quest.
Gently running my hand through Naruto's hair as he slept, I placed him on the ground before vanishing into the shadows.
The memories of all the former prisoners had been altered so that they wouldn't remember me. Just to mess with Konoha.
It was pointless anyway. The traces of the battle and the abilities I had shown to Konoha would betray me.
