Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Nan Song steadied her nerves, opened the laptop, and her fingers flew across the keyboard. Within moments, she hacked into the surveillance system and erased all traces of her presence. She left as cleanly as she had arrived.

"Sir, Madam has left!"

Early the next morning, Yu Jinwen returned from the hospital to the mansion upon receiving the news.

As he pushed open the door to the master bedroom, a fresh, soothing scent of roses greeted him—Nan Song's signature fragrance. He had grown accustomed to it over the past three years.

He rarely entered the master bedroom, which Nan Song had personally decorated. The room's warm, bright yellow bedding exuded a sense of tranquility and cleanliness, reflecting her style. But he didn't linger or admire the decor. Instead, he walked straight to the bedside.

The divorce agreement lay there, already signed by her. The ten-million-yuan check he had written remained untouched.

Beside it was a delicate, translucent rose seal. The base was engraved with the characters "Yu Jinwen's Seal," and the side featured an exquisitely carved white rose. He couldn't help but run his fingers over it. The jade was high-quality Hetian white jade, clear and luminous, cool to the touch. Remarkably, red veins ran through the base, resembling a blooming red rose under sunlight—both mesmerizing and beautiful.

He knew she loved roses. She had planted a garden of them, though he had never gifted her a single bouquet.

Beneath the seal was a card. He picked it up and opened it to find neat, elegant handwriting: "Happy third anniversary. Goodbye, Ah Jin." Yu Jinwen's eyes flickered as he read the words. He glanced at the calendar on the bedside table—the tenth day of the fourth lunar month. It was the day they had registered their marriage. Three years had passed in the blink of an eye.

As he held the priceless Hetian jade seal, a thought suddenly struck him: Where had she gotten the money?

He had never shortchanged her on the monthly household allowance, but the funds in her account were rarely touched. She had claimed that since she lacked nothing at home, there was little need to spend. There were no large withdrawals from her account.

Yu Jinwen listened to his assistant's report, his expression inscrutable. "Find out where she went," he ordered in a low voice. "Monitor her movements closely. If she was indeed planted by a rival, bring her back immediately."

An orphan from the countryside with no family—was Lu Nan Song really who she seemed?

Three days later, Nan City.

The headquarters of Nan Corporation, located in the CBD's Guangmao Building, was in chaos. Employees rushed through the doors, while executives gathered in the lobby early, awaiting the arrival of their new CEO.

Just two days prior, Nan Corporation, on the brink of bankruptcy due to plummeting stocks, had miraculously been revived by a mysterious investor who acquired it at a high price. While the employees were relieved to keep their jobs, they were also gripped by a new wave of anxiety.

"Who is the new CEO? Man or woman? Any clues about their background? There's been no news at all!"

"Don't ask me. Even the management has no idea who it is. That's why they say 'the dragon's head is seen, but its tail remains hidden.' I hope it's a handsome man—a domineering CEO to save me!"

"Keep dreaming. What if it's a woman?"

"Don't joke around. That's impossible. You might as well wish for the young mistress of the Nan family to come back from the dead..."

"They're here! Stop chatting!"

Everyone held their breath, their eyes fixed on the entrance. Tension filled the air as a black Rolls-Royce pulled up to the door. The vice president personally stepped forward to open the car door, and out stepped a figure.

To be precise, a woman.

First, a pair of ten-centimeter black stilettos touched the ground. Then, a woman with short, sleek hair and a crisp white pantsuit emerged, standing tall. Her flawless makeup accentuated her striking features.

The senior executives, veterans who had worked at Nan Corporation for nearly a decade, gasped in shock at the familiar face. "Y-young Mistress..."

Nan Song stood at the entrance of Nan Corporation, her red lips curving into a faint smile. "Hi, long time no see."
