Chapter 36 - Chapter 36

Her heart pounded with panic.

As Nan Song began to wheel Yu Fengjiao away, Zhuo Xuan suddenly stood and pointed an accusing finger. "I get it now! *You!* You're behind all of this!"

"Zhuo Xuan," Yu Jinwen said coldly, calling her by her full name for the first time. "Don't make baseless accusations."

The fact that he wasn't just defending Nan Song but *correcting her* sent a fresh wave of dread through Zhuo Xuan. She felt him slipping away.

But she wasn't lashing out blindly.

Her wedding had been ruined—clearly, someone was targeting her. She'd only just returned to Bei City and had no enemies… except Nan Song. And now, showing up in a *helicopter*? This was a blatant attempt to steal Yu Jinwen back!

"Nan Song, if you did this, have the guts to admit it!" Zhuo Xuan spat. Even if Nan Song *wasn't* responsible, she'd pin it on her. Otherwise, this wedding was over—and with it, her chance to marry into the Yu family.

Nan Song didn't even glance at her. "Yeah, it was me. So what?"

Yu Jinwen's head snapped toward her, stunned.

*She* was behind this? Just yesterday, she'd acted like she didn't know him—like she wanted to cut all ties forever. Why sabotage things now?

Zhuo Xuan blinked, caught off guard by the easy confession.

To Nan Song, it didn't matter. Her brother had orchestrated it, but he'd done it for her. Claiming responsibility changed nothing.

Zhuo Xuan seized the moral high ground. "You shameless—!"

Nan Song smirked. "*You're* calling *me* shameless? Weren't you the one proudly being the other woman? Or did you forget you're a player looking for a sucker to settle down with?"

Yu Jinwen's brow furrowed.

*Player? Sucker?* Was she talking about… him?

Zhuo Xuan paled, quickly turning tearful eyes to Yu Jinwen. "Jinwen, don't listen to her! How could I be like that? She's slandering me! I—I'll sue her!"

"Go ahead. It's your right." Nan Song shrugged. "But last I heard, your family's drowning in lawsuits and billions in debt. Can you even afford a lawyer? Need a loan?"

She couldn't care less about the threat. "Let me know when you're ready. My legal team's on standby."

Done with the theatrics, she wheeled Yu Fengjiao toward the exit.

Zhuo Xuan trembled with rage. How dare this *nobody* from nowhere humiliate her like this—and brag about a *legal team*? Who did she think she was? Some kind of heiress?

In her fury, it didn't occur to her that a "nobody" wouldn't know how to pilot a helicopter.

"Jinwen!" Zhuo Xuan whirled to Yu Jinwen, tears streaking her makeup. "Did you hear her? She can't get away with this! I'll sue her for invasion of privacy, defamation, *and* ruining our wedding! I'll make sure she rots in jail!"

Yu Jinwen studied her—the tear-stained face, the vindictive snarl. This wasn't the woman he remembered.

He could tolerate her vanity, her pettiness. But he wouldn't forgive being played for a fool.

"Zhuo Xuan," he said quietly. "We're done."
