Chapter 18 - Countdown in Solitude

4 more days…

[Log 49] {Sil} Vicky, I know it's nice talking to you and all, but I can't help but notice that Logan hasn't talked much.

{Sil} I was hoping that with you guys both coming to meet with me that we'd be able to talk more.

{Vicky} He's not talking because I put him in a coma.

{Sil} Please elaborate.

{Vicky} A pleasure coma. >:)

{Sil} Nevermind, you don't have to elaborate anymore.

{Vicky} Aww.

{Sil} But seriously, where is Logan? Isn't he with you?

Vicky was unsure how to reveal this to Sil. She really did want to tell him the truth about why Logan didn't want to be reminded of Peter, but should she wait until they met physically? Or tell him now? Her hands hovered above the keyboard and she prepared to type, but she couldn't get her hands to move. She was unsure on how to go forward.

{Sil} Vicky?

{Sil} Hello?

{Sil} Please respond.

{Vicky} I'm still here.

{Sil} What happened to Logan?

{Vicky} He's worried for you.

{Sil} That's why you're visiting me though, it's why you're meeting me halfway.

{Vicky} Logan's worried about how much he'd have to catch you up on. It's been about a hundred years since you've left and a lot has happened.

{Sil} Yeah I figured… so… how bad does it have to be for Logan to be worried?

Vicky stared at the chat. She really didn't know how to explain this to Sil without getting him worried. She wished Logan would actually say something in the chat, but Vicky was left to carry the conversation.

{Vicky} I really do want to tell you. I genuinely do, but it's best if I told you in person.

{Sil} It better be a birthday party or something.

Right as she was about to type "I'm sorry," before revealing the truth, she couldn't help but think 'Holy shit, he gave me an out.' When seeing what Sil wrote. She needed to take this opportunity.

{Vicky} Yeah, you totally guessed it right.

{Vicky} Ruins the surprise though

{Sil} My birthday is 4 months from now.

{Vicky} Well..

{Vicky} We missed how many birthdays?

{Sil} True… when was the last time I actually celebrated my birthday?

{Sil} I mean the last birthday I remember was my 8th… and you know what happened after lol.

{Sil} ...

{Vicky} ...

{Vicky} Yeah…

{Vicky} Well.. Guess what! This birthday will have alcohol!

{Sil} Vic i'm not an alcoholic…

{Vicky} Are you turning down free drinks?? I didn't raise you like this…

{Sil} Mimimimimi.

{Sil} You were more of a bad influence than a parental figure. 🙄

{Vicky} That's what I mean buddy boy.

{Sil} And your slang is shit.

{Vicky} Oohhh, who's your dictionary?

{Sil} Raten.

{Vicky} Sil you haven't spoken to him much at all, how is he your dictionary?

{Sil} We shared the same body for the longest time, and don't you recall those video calls we used to do?

{Vicky} We should bring those back. Maybe instead of yearly, we make them monthly!

{Sil} Once my communication isn't crap anymore, sure.

{Sil} But I kinda don't want to show them my shitty love life.

{Vicky} it's not shitty, it's entertaining!!

{Sil} Yeah that's what I mean…

{Vicky} It's fun to hear about how you got dicked down real bad by aliens.

{Sil} I swear if you mention…

{Vicky} DUCK GUY!!! 😈

{Sil} I'm ending these logs. I'm sick of you.

{Vicky} See you tomorrow. ♥️

{Sil} Please go back to plowing your husband.

3 more days…

[Log 50] {Sil} I'm going to shit myself from the anxiety, when the fuck are we meeting up!?!?

{Logan} 3 days.

{Logan} Assuming nothing gets in the way.

{Sil} LOok who finally SHOWS up. DId vicky rip your ass a new hole?

{Logan} Three.

{Sil} What.

{Logan} Days.

{Vicky} Hehehehehe.

{Sil} …

{Sil} I was going to ask about how we're gonna meet up if my navigation barely functions but…

{Sil} I wanna end this log.

{Vicky} NOOOOOOO.

{Vicky} Okay fine! I'll stop.

{Logan} We will use the last information your ship sends out, and follow the general course as well as using scans we made from our ship to locate nearby objects.

{Sil} So… you guys will find me first before I find you?

{Vicky} Ya lol. Your ship is probably crap.

{Vicky} No offense lol.

{Sil} Wow it's almost as if my ship was attacked.

{Sil} for once I agree.

{Logan} Don't you ever diss my creations again.

{Sil} I mean, Vicky is right. It's pretty old, not gonna lie.

{Vicky} Oh no.

{Logan is typing….}

{Logan} I'll spare you the wrath of my words… for now.

{Vicky} I actually kinda wanted to hear it.

{Logan} I am afraid of what you mean by that, but will tell you later.

{Vicky} I wanna hear you nowww.

{Sil} Get a room or a chatlog. I don't wanna hear it.

Sil ended the log. It was closed pretty fast compared to other days, and he kinda regretted closing it. The day was still fresh according to his clock, not like he had other means to tell the time.

Was he jealous of Vicky and Logan? He didn't want to seem petty or jealous of what they had. Still, he couldn't help but feel that familiar ache in his heart.

Maybe… he wanted what they had more than he could manage, but the person he wanted was not going to be here for a long time, and even then, how could he be sure that he would still love them?

"Maybe… I should move on…" he mumbled.

He began to think about anything but 'that guy'. The duck man seemed nice, but he probably wouldn't want a relationship based on a singular night. Well… a few nights. Sil tried to think about anyone else who could fill the loneliness, someone else to distract him from… 'that guy.'

Sil got up from his chair and laid on his bed staring at the ceiling. He thought about Fex, he was getting married to that one lady from the military. He thought about Layla, but she was also into 'that guy' and so did Peter now that he recalled it. There was that one person who he remembered helped him greatly with getting Vorden and Raten back.

Shiro. Did Sil have the same feelings towards him? Could he have those same feelings? Sil thought about it, but didn't feel any particular way towards Shiro. He was more like a friend than a potential lover. Still, he missed him, and he felt lonely again. Just thinking about anyone back home made Sil feel so small.

Sil sat up from the bed and looked over at the papers he had written his poetry on. Several pages sat on the table where his computer lay. Despite the several days of him working and figuring out words, these papers held the memory of 'that guy.'

Standing up from the bed, he walked over to the table and picked up the papers. He saw a few words of his work before quickly crumpling it up and throwing it away. Sil was starting to get used to ridding himself of painful memories.
