Chapter 23 - Yam Mansion

Eventually, they came back to the Greylash solar system. Logan announced his return, and they went back to the Green mansion. Sil took a good look around, with his sister as his guide for the very expansive place.

"Here's the 4th living room, which is my favorite since it has all of the COD games." Vicky happily explained, "And also because it's next to the kitchen with my Mountain Dew collection."

It was a kitchen and living room hybrid area. The living room had a shelf full of games, and the kitchen had a shelf full of drinks. Sil strolled up to the drink shelf to look closer.

"How old are these anyways?" Sil spoke as he picked up a bottle. He nearly dropped it when he saw the year it expired in.

"I dunno," Vicky shrugged, "I don't wanna get rid of them though, there's flavors that haven't been in production for decades. It's like collecting."

"Right…" Sil returned the ancient bottle where he saw it. "Say… When are we planning to visit Quinn?"

Vicky stopped her tracks, changing the tone of what was her enthusiastic tour, her back facing him so he was unable to tell what her facial expression was.

"Well… it's like a whole thing, we can't exactly visit the tombs as easily as we used to due to the vampires not letting in humans anymore." She said as she tapped the tips of her fingers anxiously. She didn't want to face him.

"I guess that's true." Sil wasn't super caught up on the worldly affairs that the humans and vampires had, so he had to take her word for it.

"But we can still go to that zoo!" Vicky turned around and clapped her hands together, putting on a smile.

"That's right, when's the trip?"

"It's actually really soon, about a few days away. Logan bought the tickets as soon as he could get them."

"Think Vorden, Raten, and Shiro could come?"

Vicky paused to think about if it was possible. "Hmm, maybe… I'll have to talk to Logan about it."

"Alright, talk to Logan, I'm gonna be right back," Sil stated as he headed towards the bathroom.

"Think you can bring back my sunglasses? I'm pretty sure I left them in that one."

"Okay!" Sil called out before closing the door.

Vicky began to message her husband.

{Vicky} Hey lil yam ;)

{Logan} Hello love.

{Vicky} We should actually shove a yam up your ass

{Vicky} and make a pie out of it ;))))))

{Logan} WTF

{Logan} Noted.

{Vicky} Oh yeah, btw Sil wants to invite Vorden and Raten.

{Logan} Done. They have been notified to dress casually and attend.

{Vicky} Cool cool.

{Vicky} So… you still have that planet? ;)

{Logan} Of course, I was planning on using it for industrial services that would benefit humans and vampires.

{Vicky} God, I love it when you talk dirty.

{Logan} I am not in any way talking dirty and you know it.

{Vicky} I love you talking. I like you even better muffled.

{Vicky} Gonna stuff you in my tits.

Vicky grabbed a stool and sat down. She was twirling her hair and giggling, even kicking her feet too. She just absolutely loved her little yam.

{Logan} Fine, what part am I losing tonight?

{Logan} Will it be my lungs? They're still organic.

{Vicky} Close, just your ability to speak.

{Logan} I'll order cough medicine.

{Vicky} Your ass is grass.

{Vicky} This time I'll be using your own ability against you. 💋

{Logan} Read the manual I sent you on how to use it properly.

While Sil was in the bathroom, he came across a mirror at the sink. At first, Sil was afraid of what he would see, dreaded it even, but upon closer inspection, it wasn't as bad as he thought.

Sure, he and Hilston had some similar features, they both still had the same beard, the same hair, and the same cheekbones, but otherwise they had different bodies, different hair colors, and different mannerisms. The unfortunate reminders didn't seem so bad now.

It wasn't like he was the only one to share similarities to him, Vicky had the same hair color and same nose as him. Pai had the same complexion, and the same mole. His fake parents had the same gray hair and more.

What mattered more was how his face didn't move the same way as the old man. He sure as hell would make sure not to act like him. Hilston couldn't treat Vicky and Logan the same way he did, he would be better than that. Sil cared for them more than he ever could.

Sil stared at the mirror looking at himself. He could trust his sister and brother-in-law to be there for him if he couldn't keep himself in check.

Maybe he could allow himself to relax.

Vicky was so caught up in her joy of talking to Logan that she didn't even notice the familiar bearded man walk up to her, and grip her shoulder.

"I'm back." The man spoke.

Vicky jumped with wide eyes. She thought she saw— No, that man was Sil, not Hilston.

"Shit— Sorry, sorry—!" She cried, placing a hand on her chest, breathing heavily, "I just thought I saw, no nevermind it—"

Sil was initially confused about his sister's reaction until he realized what she was hinting at.

"At least I brought back your sunglasses instead of babies." He joked, holding the item towards Vicky. As soon as he said those words, he slightly regretted it.

Vicky really didn't know how to respond. How was he joking about something that he nearly killed himself over?

"Eh, yeah…" She slowly took the lenses back, a little shocked.

"So… did you talk to Logan? Where even is he?" Sil asked to change the topic.

"Um… He's at his office, it's a left, a right, a u-turn, and a roundabout down that hall." Vicky pointed towards said hall behind her.

Sil looked behind her, then back at Vicky.

"You're joking right?"

"Mostly," Vicky said. In a way, she was mostly glad that Sil was doing well and not beating himself up over looking like Hilston, but she was beginning to fear him a little. His nonchalant mood over this reminded her of a certain someone.
