Chapter 3 - Breakthrough

"Where are those Thunder mages master Cyrus promised to send?!" Ovaron asked himself as he sensed the rising energy of the Nighclaw.

It had been a couple of days, and yet the supervisor of thie facility had not sent the mages he had guaranteed to. The barrier was losing power, and the Mana from the monster was unleashing at the same speed. Ovaron looked around to see his fellow scientists struggling.

Unlike him, the other scientists weren't capable of withstanding high levels of Mana, they were normal humans.

Ovaron thought of everything he could and stepped towards the machine that was creating the artificial barrier.

He placed his hand on it and began puring Mana into it.

"Mr. Ovaron, don't!" One of the scientists said. "We need Thunder magic to charge the machine. Uncontrolled Mana could break it!"

Ovaron ignored the warnings. He continued to pour his Mana into it, regardless of the consequences.

(Using Thunder magic was the best way to charge up any machine. These machines required energy, and Mana was a type of energy. But it can't charge a machine because Mana would break the machine. Thunder magic was the pure, controlled version of magic and was perfect to charge a machine. P.S. Thunder magic is weaker than uncontrolled Mana)

As Ovaron poured his Mana into the machine, a sound rang, symbolising that it was fully charged.

All the scientists looked at Ovaron and began praising him for his amazing feat. He could've potentially saved the entire facility from being destroyed from the monster they had created.

But amongst the celebrations, the Mana within the machine began transporting to a new place.

The Mana slowly exited the machine and entered the monster resting within the chamber. A loud alarm rang, startling the scientists. They looked at the monster and artificial barrier and saw the barrier slowly fading.

Fear struck them as they rushed to the machine to stop it from doing whatever it was doing.

But they were too late, as the eyes of the monster opened and it released its Mana, pushing back all the people in the room. The barrier disappeared, and the Nightclaw stepped out.

The Nightclaw had two, curved horns on its head. Its eyes were large and glowed like a lamp. The Nightclaw had large, white wings, almost two meters in length. It's body was covered in black and grey scales. The nightclaw was atleast five meters (sixteen feet & four inches) in height.

The nightclaw looked straight at the scientists, before vanishing into thin air.
