-Evening, the academy's commercial district -
Asta and Klaus are meeting at a bridge over a river that runs through the academy and is one of the attractions for being known as River of hell.
"Why did you want me to meet you here of all places? You could have just meet me at my dorm or even a restaurant." Asta complain as he looks to the side and sees a lot of people fighting above the water while blasting eachother with spells.
" We needed some secrecy and no better place for that than a place known for its top tier entertainment." Klaus brings out a bag of list from his pocket and hands it to asta.
"What do you even want me to make a mana restrain for? You could have asked anybody for it? It's not l-" Asta says as he reads through the list but soon realised what the reason was for Klaus's caution. " A symbiote demon.. Your brother is being taken over by a symbiote demon?"
"Yes.. One of our servants *slams hand on the bridge rail* Kidnapped him when he was young, he was taken to somewhere and for past 3 years I searched everyplace to find him." He clutches his hand so hard that veins pop up on it, he grabs a nearby rock coated it with metal, " I found him, battered to half death, his body was being used as a fuel and when I tried to stop the demon, it entered his body."
"I understand. Which one was it? A bone gnauwr, steel string arachneid or-" "Soul reaver, it was a GodDamn Soul reaver." Klaus says as he throws the metal ball like a bullet and pierced a nearby dish's head, he looks back at Asta and says "It was a tier 2 soul reaver, For the past 5 months he has been using my brother's body and surviving on his mana.. I will get you whatever material you want but just help me save my brother. I am begging you asta."
Klaus looks down and bows which was near impossible for the prideful Klaus asta knew, Asta came closer and then with a thwack Klaus fell to the ground face first as asta slapped him on the head.
"I told you to stop acting as if we are strangers, I will say it again, friends help eachother you moron" asta roars as helps Klaus get back to his feet. He looks at his face and then "HAHAHAHA" asta bursts out laughing as he looks at Klaus whose glasses have tilted a full 90 degree and make him look like a plus symbol.(Like regice from pokemon)
Klaus quickly fixes his glasses and looks at asta in rage but controls himself from just blasting Asta with shards. "What do you need for the item? Metals? Bones?" He diverts the conversation to the materials.
Asta thinks in his mind and skims through his knowledge and found nothing but just as he was thinking of something to work temporarily, a lot of knowledge that he never read about it learnt resurfaces in his mind, knowledge that felt foreign but still his.
Just as Asta focused on this knowledge, he felt something or rather some memories appear in his mind, a child being carried through a forest by a bleeding old man. The old man handed the child to a dwarf he saw camping nearby and died from excessive bleeding as he says his final words as looks at the child 'I am sorry, Jassen. Grandfather won't be there on your birthday.' and dies.
"-Ta. ASTA." Klaus's words and a slap to the head woke asta up as he comes out of his daze, "Why are dazing like that? And why the hell are you crying?" Klaus says and Asta looks at him in bafflement, "Crying?" Asta mumbles as his hand reaches for his eyes which are dropping tears like a river.
"Nothing, just some old memories.. what were talking about again?" "We were talking about what you would need to make the restrictoe for the reaver." Asta asks as wipes away the tears and turns to Klaus who answered right away.
"We need a plate of mithril, few pieces of Jade or a small shard of a serpent core and some powdered marbel mixed with mana stones... And a branch of a pristine coral." Asta states a few ingredients but he felt something missing and suddenly a ingredient name popped up in his head alongside a wide variety of ingredients and his instincts screamed at him to add it.
"Noted, I will meet you tomorrow. I need to hur-" just as Klaus was leaving, a giant boom was heard and a strong shockwave hit everyone.
They turn to the direction of the shockwave and saw a massive black cloud slowly rising to the skies, asta brings out his grimoire and begins surfing on Goliath towards the epicenter.
As he Surfing over the trees, Asta sensed a sudden hostility from within the woods and quickly leaned to the side and dodged a arrow that whistled right past him. Another came but asta just grabbed it mid-air.
"Ice arrows? That makes it easier." Asta observes the arrows that were shot at him and quickly wings spurt out of his back as he wields Goliath and shots towards the enemy.
"A junior is not supposed to have such reflexes, is he a ranker? *Loads another arrow on bow* Good for me." The cloaked figure smiles as watched his Target get closer.
Asta flew through the forest but the hostility suddenly disappeared, just as he was about to gain altitude to search, hundreds of arrows came raining down upon him as he sees a person standing on a broom high above the forest.
He dashes for the figure at full speed, the arrows coming at him were blocked by the Goliath which Asta used as shield, he quickly reached him and hit him straight on with a upwards swing.
The figure breaks to reveal a statue of ice which turns into shattered ice from Asta's swing, the feel of hostility returns and Asta turns to see arrow right in front of him.
The anti-magic wings disintegrates the arrow while Asta uses Ki and Mana sense, from high up in the sky he sees a small dot far away right in middle of the forest and launches himself like a missile.
'I have to get to him before he vanishes again.' Asta quickly impacts at the spot where he felt the Mana but just as he landed he was meet by a rope trap that ignites a bunch of makeshift bombs on him.
he quickly uses Windmagic and creates dozens of wind gust that instantly blew away the bombs to the sides. 'Physical weapons.. he is not a archer but a hunter.' Asta tries to understand the hunter's fighting style from his experience in the mountains.
'A arrow to distract, a trap to injured and.. A knife to kill.' Asta slightly tilts his neck to as a flew arrow zooming just past his skin, a smile forms on his mouth as he again felt the wave of hostility.
"Too bad.. i am hunter as well." Asta threw Goliath in the air while bringing out his Phantom spear, the Goliath quickly blocks a rain of arrows from above as Asta's smile widens. He grabbed the spear and flew through the arrows as Goliath itself flew and guarded Asta.
He spins the spear and with a swing, hundreds of spear clones flew in all directions like rain and embedded themselves all around the forest.
He flew towards the Hostile he is sensing and just as expected as soon as he reached it, the location of the hostility changed right opposite him while a spiked log comes towards him. He grins a little and switched places with one of the spears near the new spot.
'Gotcha' Asta appeared right behind the hunter as it was skimming through the forest bushes, it looks at Asta terrified as Asta grabbed him before he could go to the other trap, Asta slammed him onto the ground but he threw a bomb right in between them.
The explosion blew Asta away a little but the did close to no damage as it was a smokescreen and a flashbang. The the point of hostility changed again as Asta saw a Scroll fading into mana where the hunter should have been.
"Just what sort of demon is that!! My arrows don't work and he is overwhelming Strong. I should g-" "Get what?" Asta again appears right beside the hunter and with a swipe left a cut across its torso while cutting his bow in half.
"You aren't strong enough to cause that explosion.. Tell me about your allies and I might spare your life." " Okay okay, I will tell. Jus- Argh." Asta quickly pierced the Hunter's chest with the spear and pulled it back, behind his back is a scroll which was destroyed and he fell to the ground coughing blood.
"That look of your eye said everything I need to know, Die and have better life next time." All the spears flew towards the hunter from all around the forest and turned him into a cheese, Asta left with the original spear and as soon was good distance away.
Every spear explodes into a thorns of blood or a blade of wind and shredded him to bits. Asta deactivated his wings and again surfs on the Goliath while he returns the spear to grimoire.
"This might be something decent." Asta says as he looks at the bluish grimoire he took from the dying hunter before he was shredded, a three leaf grimoire with no sign of shining.
"I already have good defence with anti-magic and decent offence with blood and wind magic, i should just hold onto it for now." He puts the grimoire in his holster while his own floats in front of him.
Picking up some speed, Asta soon reached the point of the first shockwave, the first year's campus. Just as he arrived he saw Yami coming at him at full speed.
Goliath expends and Yami lands on the blade with a spin while Asta supports him with his hand, Yami pulls the katana back and thrusts with compressed ki and mana to block a giant spear coming their way.
"What is going on? Where is the enemy?" Asta says as he looks around and found nothing but suddenly he felt a wave of hostility on his neck and ducked to see a wind blade appear beside him which he dodged.
"The bastards are using spacial magic, they are throwing attacks and swapping around with eachother like crazy." Yami says as he leaps and Asta follows behind, He brings out Defiance and Redemption( Demon destroyer) as he shares some Anti-magic with Yami.
The grounds are filled with teachers and students fighting hordes of spiders and treants.Like arrows the duo dash through the building as they slaughter hordes of giant spiders and treants, they see the attackers hiding behind a living behemoth of a treant about 30 meters tall.
"Captain, take the treant." Asta says as he fills the defiance with anti-magic and a giant slash of black colour hit the treant straight on, causing a big gap in it's trunk. The anti-magic stops the treant's regeneration.
" Dark slash technique: perpendicular double cut." Yami embued his katana with darkness magic and with a swift slash the treant was cut into two, but another attack appears and splits the treant perpendicular to the first attack. It fell in 4 pieces as yami slashes at the crouching mage behind him.
Yami quickly stops and with spin changed his sword's trajectory and slashes behind him, a cloaked figure with two scimitars appears in view and slashes at the Yami.
"I knew you would attack from behind again. Dark magic: heavy blade" Yami's and the figure's not so surprise attack clashed with a clear advantage going to Yami's strike. The figure's knees bend.
"Swap magic: point s-" "Anti magic: Mana sealing" Asta arrives from the side and plants Goliath onto the ground, a black wave of energy flew out and the figure's was nullified but Thank to Asta giving Yami's mana some power of anti-magic it didn't vanish.
With a quick strike Yami severs right of figure's arms at the elbow and asta quickly cuts the other arm While also grabbing the grimoire of the figure but just as Yami twirls and slashes again to kill the figure, Both Yami and Asta were hit with something strong and giant from the side.
they come to a stop after flipping in the air and plants their feet into the ground, standing behind the figure and the crouching mage is a giant behemoth of Person wearing two giant gauntlets, the person's face is covered by a lion mask made of metal, his chest covered with fur while his body bulges with muscle.
"Kill Them puppet." The crouching mage screams as he quickly stops what he was doing and help the cloaked one up. The behemoth growls and charges at them like a rampant beast with no mind while the attackers retreat.
"Asta, do you sense it?" "Yes.. This is a souless corpse." The both sprints towards the enemy while Asta switches the swords with Tyrant and attacks with overwhelming brute strength. The Corpse flew back, leaving Yami enough time to leave a deep cut on it's chest and follow up with a neck slash that cut.
"You follow those two, Anti-magic works better against mages." Yami says as he kicks himself upwards from the beast and keeps slashing while dodging.
Asta understood the order and quickly with the strength of four wings shot towards the forest like bullet as he blocks a claw attack for yami while using it to accelerate even further.
